You can also use a multiworld plugin to have access to both of them at once! :smile.gif:

Thanks, but I can't seem to get the world to load at all. Is there a post anywhere that explains the changes that need to be made? Or a revision document which explains the differences?

    i need a server hoster

I don't use a holster, I just tuck that shizz in my belt. Not only is it concealed, but I look all gangsta when I pull up my shirt!

    Oh wait... you said 'hoster'...

    Nvmd.

I have an old world from about 10 months ago that I'd love to restore as it had some interesting creations in it. When I tried to replace my /world folder on a new server with it, it didn't load. Am I doing something wrong? Should this work? Or are older worlds incompatible with the latest server? Is there any way to migrate them over? Thanks.

posted a message on [Multi World] Minecraft Server Control Script
I'm a bit confused as to the directory structure. I stopped MC for a while so maybe I'm just out of date.

    /minecraft/minecraft_server/minecraft_server.jar

However, when I start the server via the script, it starts my world in the parent dir rather than the server dir:

    /minecraft/worlds

Why doesn't it start it in:

    /minecraft/minecraft_server/worlds

    ???

    Thanks for the script!

Wait wait, so you are saying that it posts 'Can't keep up' to the server console but it DOESN'T LOG IT!? So basically I need to stare at the screen and break out a counter or something? Hrm, seems like some better server troubleshooting additions are necessary.

Server is running on a raid array, as I indicated, its a beefy machine. It does share load with some other functions but it isn't getting hit a lot - I just want a way to monitor / know when and what the actual issue is - lots of speculation without any way to really get a clear indication it seems.

Is there any way to see this definitively? For instance, does the server log if there was a disk access issue so it would be possible to know if the issue is local server IO or network latency?

We only have 5 max people on the server - not a lot of IO. It is on a pretty beefy machine too and connected through a school network with a massive pipe. If it is a server RAM problem I can fix that - is how much ram I'm starting the server with relevant?

Hey all, I'm getting some incidents of giant floor to ceiling blank spots when the world gets drawn. They're about 20x20sq and the world still exists there (I can jump around on it and chop stuff) but there is a visual gap. Is this a client-side thing or a server-side thing? If server-side is there any way I can minimize its occurance?

Sometimes, when I'm deep in a cave mining, and the music comes on all of a sudden, it scares the sh*t out of me more than a monster beating on me.

Just making sure that powered minecarts aren't working currently in SMP, right? I can't get a powered minecart to do anything. Are minecarts working at all?

The problem isn't the mobs, it is the fall / fire / lava / breath damage.

    Quote from Aelux »
Well, first of all, not being able to die in SMP was never a feature... It's called "Survival" Multiplayer for a reason. It was always intended to have damage and be exactly like SSP (Survival Single Player) but a multiplayer version, obviously. An option to turn off health would defeat the purpose of the "Survival" aspect of the game. Notch IS going to develop (eventually) a mode where you can just build without any limits or monsters - someone correct me if i'm wrong. Right now though, you're going to have to deal with the bugs regarding health unless a mod is released to circumvent its affects.

I would suggest hMOD (Hey0's mod) forums for further information regarding getting rid of health. A plugin might be available by now.

The game became hugely popular due to its various play styles - its intent and its reality have been two different things for quite some time now and there is a large community who have enjoyed the social builder aspect of the game. Limiting that play style limits an entire community (read customer if money is your sole motive). The game existed for months without damage - the fact that it has been turned on without a way to turn it off it a bit odd given that the functionality already existed - just would have taken writing a flag to turn it off into the events which trigger damage. This just seems like it could have been a straightforward thing to do to stay inclusive to a broad community rather than limiting things to just those who want a damage style of play.

This is baffling to me - why is there no flag to turn off damage. I love the 'OPTION' to have damage but it isn't an option, it was forced on us and now a whole style of play has been significantly hampered with no ability to turn it off.

posted a message on Does your server not work? - The list of possible solutions
Survival Multi Player (SMP) doesn't have monsters (mobs) - so you seem to be mixing things up a bit. If you are running single player you get mobs. If you are running multiplayer other people can join your server but you don't get mobs. If you are running SMP and you can join your own server then other people can join too, you are just another user. If this is the problem, you are running SMP and you can join your server, then you must have a connectivity issue - firewall or otherwise, between other folks and your server, it isn't minecraft.
