posted a message on Is it possible to load old Indev maps?
Hi, I created an Indev map called DungeonCraft a long time ago. I was wondering if it was still possible to open that now? I remember back when infdev was in development you could just type /indev and bring it back up. It would seem that is not the case anymore?

posted a message on [WIP]Zelda:LttP ReCreation
    Hello everyone!

Some may remember me and others may not. Oh well doesn't matter! Ever since SMP hit I've seen a lot of great projects happen and well, I finally gave in and decided to recreate the world of Link to the Past. Though this is SMP it's mostly just me working on it, but some people have volunteered to TNT all the mountains around me.

This is a private server, don't bother asking me to get you in. I have no say in any of that.

Pictures are too big to fit on boards, so links only.

Here is the location I picked out, though it's not the original overhead of the area I selected... wish I saved that screenshot! Also has my Hyrule outline I used, but you can get an idea of the scale I'm doing.

Another picture I gave to the server to show them how I'm scaling everything:
    http://imgur.com/Xfb17.jpg

Lastly I have Hyrule about 50% done:

I'm going to be adding flowers and all that fun stuff, the map will be very detailed. I finished the castle today, not very difficult. The recreation will be exactly as the overworld map in LttP. Meaning, Hyrule is chopped in half. I am not improvising anything that isn't shown in the map in the game. In order to fit dungeon, I WILL be improvising stairways and hallways and such in order to make it all fit. Since it's an old SNES game they didn't have to worry about making everything because you never had a reason to see all of it.

So yeah that's it, I'll answer any questions whenever I stop by the forums. I don't visit as much as I use to since I was waiting for a more developed game... but I got bored of waiting. I'll update this thread every time a new main area finishes.

Also: I'll see what I can do about letting people into the server when it's all complete. That way everyone can take their time to see all the fine details I am going to add.

posted a message on Misa's Realistic Texture Pack - 1.20.1+ UPDATED ELSEWHERE!
Wonderful job Misa. Patch fixed the error and texture's look great.

Only thing I somewhat dislike (but is growing on me) is the diamond stone block and the diamond block. Keep up the great work though, I'll be lookin forward to the future updates!

If none of that's comforting enough in terms of how fast I get updates out, just think of the year or so that I was personally using my own pack without releasing any of it to the public. :tongue.gif:

Thanks for releasing it to us :3.

Swords, stone houses, bows, zombies... Yep. Sound a fantasy medieval theme to me.

I'm sorry to hear your imagination is so limited.

    Quote from Droqen »
So instead of a magnet allowing you to find interesting landmark-like places...
You'd prefer the only reliable method of finding interesting and important places to be through communication with players who are likely already far away?
And if any kind of local communication were to be implemented, you might have to contact players outside of the game (or privately through the /tells that are newly implemented).

Last of all, you can't player communicate to give co-ordinates unless everyone has a GPS (which is not really a good idea)

In my opinion I believe stumbling on landmarks is more enjoyable than being told "there is something here." I never enjoyed that in recent games and I know I wouldn't enjoy it here. A map would then help rediscover landmarks you found.

Plus if a player wants to be found, he would just type it "go to this area." You don't need a magnet. Even if local communication was added, notch would add more communication as well... he isn't stupid. So then that means a giant magnet to find towns, is truly useless. Players who want to be found can easily tell you, and players who don't want to be found simply won't make one. Also navigation isn't rocket science, you can easily navigate the land without anything at all. but I believe a compass should be added at least to help those less fortunate players.

Last of all, you don't need a GPS to tell someone where something is. Overall the idea adds nothing you can't already do. We can already navigate and find stuff, why add things that don't add to the game? I understand people want to be spoon-fed everything but you also have to factor in players who want more realistic exploring experience. As long as you suggest something that divides the fanbase you have a lower chance of getting your suggestion noticed.

Do not read this with the wrong tone of voice. I'm not trying to be rude in any way, just stating a few opinions.

posted a message on My Vehicle Build Idea
Alright I know there is another topic on this but I feel it didn't touch on it correctly. I'm here to try to perfect the idea with my own ideas. For the record I only support half of it but I saw interest in the idea so I'm going to give everyone a bit more to think on.

    GOAL:
To allow players to build a vehicle they can drive while keeping it within a reasonable size.

    PROCESS:
    1) A Platform.
    :wood: :wood: :wood:
    :wood: :wood: :wood:
    :wood: :wood: :wood:
Simple, this will allow the vehicle to move.

    2) Wheels & Propellers.
    [] [] []
    :|: :|: []
    :|: :|: []
    Hard to make a wheel...
    [] :Iron: []
    :Iron: :|: :Iron:
    [] :Iron: []
    Forgot the propeller...

    3) Steering Wheel.
    [] :|: []
    :|: :Logs^: :|:
    [] :wood: []
    :Logs^: = Wheel from above.

    4) Putting in all together.
Make platform and connect wheels or propeller. Build anything you want on top of the platform. Place the steering wheel where you want to stand while driving. Use redstone, or anything similar Notch may add, to connect your steering wheel to your movable platform. Click the steering wheel and away you go!

    5) Over-sized Vehicle Prevention.
    Two Options:
-Give weight to blocks so that when you reach a certain weight limit the vehicle won't move. This opens up more uses for blocks in the future.
-Set imaginary boundaries around the platform which regulates size.

    6) Main Issues (IMO).
Boats are fine, I always support additional boats. Water is flat so it poses no issues for vehicle movement. The terrain for minecraft however gives a natural problem for vehicles. A car can't jump over the blocks on the terrain. In order to drive smoothly over all of it you would have to create a monster truck, which brings me to the next dilemma.

Blocks are large, building your own vehicle with the current blocks will make huge vehicles that don't really fit into the world proportions.

    7) Plus side.
These parts I introduce could be expanded much further than just simple vehicles. However this is a vehicle thread, so I leave that bit up to your imagination.

Like I said this is just a bit more for people to think about. I support boats, but no cars and only one type of aircraft which is my own idea :tongue.gif:.

posted a message on Lost Music!
Alright either this thread can die or become the official find music thread.

About 4 years ago, back when the game Oblivion released I stumbled onto a really good artist. I am unable to find him again. Here are the only things I remember:

    -It was free music
    -Orchestra style music
-Fan made for Oblivion and never released as a mod I believe, though someone may have used it.
-He also had free music for much more than Oblivion, but I grabbed that soundtrack because I liked it the most.
-One song was slow sort like with rain behind it. Another song was a more upbeat war song that featured a really strong and bad*** low brass half way through it.

I know someone must have his music on hand! I mentioned it to several people and they all remember the music but don't remember who it was.

Only if you can make body armor out of the magnets, that way if anyone hits me with their sword my armor steals it!

Other than that, I really dislike the magnet idea :sad.gif:. Give me a map or a compass, finding towns should either be done by randomly exploring, or player communication giving coordinates. Might just be me who wants it like that though :tongue.gif:.

IDK why people are saying "this is doesn't fit the theme". Since when do you guys get to decide what Notch is doing with the game :tongue.gif:. Theme wise is only limited to your imagination. You can easily make sci-fi looking stuff in this game as well.

I'm not fond of the idea, but it could easily fit into minecraft.

Yep yep, but idk, IMO when it comes to something like this... I really rather see Minecraft than something craftable. I do want some aesthetic things added to the game but not at the expense of creativity. That's just me though.

Just for the record... just need to... you know, throw this out there.

We can already build a cannon that shoots REALLY FAR. Probably further than Notch would allow this cannon to shoot. Most likely would do more damage faster as well.

Sure it may not be mobile... but the enemy wouldn't be able to do much against it anyways lol.

posted a message on Minecraft on Steam
I hardly care what ever happens with steam because even if it was added to steam it would still be easily available off steam.

However... Notch loves Valve and Valve loves. I can easily see both Notch and Valve going out of their way to put Minecraft on Steam. Valve would love it and Notch would be honored to do it.
