posted a message on My MCEdit is different :(

You downloaded mcedit 2.0 rather than 1.0, as far as I can tell. 2.0 is still in beta, and is completely different. Go back to their website and download any of the 1.0 versions. Here's a link to the 1.0 download page.

posted a message on Duplicate items on mac laptop, creative?

You can change the "Pick block" key in options under controls. Change it to something on your keyboard and then that key will work to duplicate blocks/items.

posted a message on How do you build maps in a snapshot?

It completely depends on whether you use something that they change, break or remove. As someone above me mentioned, Mojang has said that 1.9 is feature complete, so nothing should be added to mess up your map. There is still a chance, however, that they do some rebalancing to a feature, fix a bug that you were using, or change something you were using, in which case you will have to remake that portion of your map for the full 1.9 release.

Personally, I'd shy away from exploiting bugs or using NBT tagging commands until the full release to make sure that nothing more gets changed to break what you were doing.

posted a message on Is it a good idea to build a house over a mob spawner?

I had a house over a skeleton spawner for weeks and never noticed until recently when mining. If you're having mob troubles, you can bring up F3 and look at the L (light) level in each block of your house. If the light is under seven, then mobs can spawn and you need more torches in that area.

posted a message on Why 1.9! Now no one will do mods

Wait... But if you have equally good modlike things in vanilla that are ruining mods, what's the point of mods? IMO if you can do it in vanilla, it's always better. Easier install, faster running, doesn't break with every new release. If the point of mods is replaced by vanilla mechanics, then mods being gone isn't a bad thing.

posted a message on How will pvp change in 1.9?

I've seen a lot of threads saying '1.9 will ruin PVP,' or something to that effect, and getting debunked. Frequently the debunkers are people saying that pvp will not be ruined, it will only change. I'd like to hear; how will it change? What are new uses for the new features, and how will YOU use them in Survival Games, Factions, etc?

Man, I had FORGOTTEN this idea... Support, I think this would make the game much better, more variable, and make singleplayer fun again.

posted a message on So whats up with the devs not adding an option to make worlds finite?

Yeah, basically making finite worlds wouldn't actually decrease load on the computer because minecraft runs on a chunk system. If you still for some reason want a finite world (to conserve disc space for example) the there's the worldborder command.

posted a message on Minecraft grass

Not sure exactly how (beginning programmer) but I do know that minecraft grass runs on what is essentially a 2d graph, with different grass colors throughout the graph. You'd need to create your own colormap and call that rather than the default map.

    Thanks a lot!

Is multiplayer much different than multiplayer on 360? I know on 360 he has his friends and if they're online he can join. Is it not the same concept on PC...

You mentioned if they're on the same network... but not if my son is at home and his friend is at his home?

    Forgive my ignorance. :)

Multiplayer on PC is a bit more involved; for your son and his friends to play together when they are not on the same wifi network, you need to set up a minecraft server in some way. The free way is downloading the server files from minecraft.net and port forwarding. The paid way is to use a server hosting company, and pay them every month or so to host your server. Server hosting is much easier, and you have to potentially open your home network to hackers to perform the other one. Also, if you have a slow network at home, you may not want to try running a server on it.

posted a message on DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS!?

As far as I can tell, they normally only teleport when the blocks under them are removed, but that can't really be exploited (sadly) because they teleport completely unpredictably, almost like dragon eggs. I wish there was a way to make them teleport reliably, but no such immediately apparent luck. On topic, I made a short shulkour course, and realized that even without the special peek datatag, they can still push you off trapdoors and trap you in two block high hallways.

posted a message on Mineplex scammed me. Not saying names.

Yeah, this happens to everyone. Since the eula disallowed selling "gameplay features" like kits, mineplex can't give away kits anymore so you'll just have to buy them with gems. You aren't supposed to be losing old kits though... submit a support ticket maybe?

posted a message on /alias - Make custom commands easily!

Yay! Seems a bit technical for me, but I think I could find many uses for this, especially with arguments. One use would allow me to execute on a player to setblock a gold block or run other commands where they're looking, if I'm not mistaken, which would be an awesome application. (OMG MY GAZE MAKES COWS)

Ok. Sorry, I made edits this morning to the spiders and endermen sections, but apparently nothing saved, I'll re-edit soon.
