You are forcing a narrow view point of what art is on Minecraft to further you argument. It does not need to make a comment on social, political or a cultural paradigm to be considered art.
If you make this argument though, I could easily say it does. Its what the world will be like after a great plague wipes out 99.9999% of the population out, and your stranded on a island. You see how people have to live now, and start from scratch. it is only then can we truly see the beauty of nature around us.

I do agree that Minecraft was never intended as "artwork", but that does not disqualify peoples prospects of what it represents through a visual medium, and how it inspires people to look at nature differently.
It is all about prospective, and you can not take away individual prospective away from people. They will think what they want to think. Considering this nominated to go into the Smithsonian... i would think twice about your argument.
I think minecraft is the best game in the world atm.
In terms of developers though, Nintendo wins. They have a lot of good games. At the moment Nintendo seems to have issues coming up with anything original, but that doesnt matter.

Almost every symbol in the world is offensive to someone, to get offended over a symbol is actual quite childish no matter the history of the symbol its still just a symbol. And if you think its a troll against you just ignore it and don't let it get to you.

Notch just needs to give to people small updates, or maybe just a blog post! We just want information or tiny updates(someone said flower color), like a reskin for mobs adding more diversity. If he does not update his blog for 2 weeks we will start to get curious about what the other employees are doing. Twitter is no place to try to find MC news.
