I tried this again and, much to my embarrassment, it worked this time. It's not perfect. I've teleported into a couple of biomes that were a bit different than MineAtlas predicted, but they have been small differences. Probably attributable to the creation of ravines. Also, spawn points are off, as you mention above. They're not usually off by much but I have had at least one off by over 1,000 blocks (seed 257635662).
Anyway, this seems to be a great resource for anyone wanting to check out a biome before they commit to creating a world in it.

So I'm planning to buy a Realm as soon as they hit the Switch. Right now I'm trying to gather a hand full of people that love building, exploring and just generally: have a lot of fun. The initial idea is to have one single Realm, but if more people decide to buy and host Realms the idea would be to all be in 1 discord, with multiple channels of the different Realms. This way we can visit each other and check out builds!
However, that's still lightyears away. First I want to just find some bros and sis's to chill with. If you're up for it, let me know!
I prefer players that are 18+, however if you prove to be mature enough I might let people younger than that join.
Let me know if you're interested! The discord channel is right here: https://discord.gg/EK45DvQ
Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Switch has quickly become my favorite platform for Minecraft, and I think the default controls are comfortable and natural. Although I think you could probably grow to become comfortable to any set up eventually.

Seeds are generated the same as before (for PE), they just added ravines. Sounds like you've just been unlucky.
You could try using something like mineatlas.com to look at the biomes without having to travel around. It's designed for java (biomes and land masses come up right but the spawn point will be wrong but close enough), just type in the seed number. However, if you have a negative number you need to convert it (memory sizes are different, 32 vs. 64 bit) by adding 232. Just used it on my new 1.2 world and it works great.

Due to a lag glitch, my entire inventory disappeared last night, including ALL of my Mending Diamond armor and tools, with the exception of my Silk Touch shovel. *sigh*
On the plus side...
Accomplished with enchanted iron armor and a really strong bow. My son was standing behind me, but I don't know that he shot the dragon or not.
PS - I just checked with him, and he did hit the dragon once, on the killing shot we both hit at the same time. I suspect his presence also made the dragon act more predictably. It kept charging in a straight line rather than circling around the healing crystals and spellbombing.

Actually, you can just paste the URL to the image directly into here, without worrying about bb code.
For example, on the line below this, I'm going to paste in "h" followed by "ttp://i.imgur.com/hn5u9dm.png" (without any quotes)
You can do exactly the same thing in a spoiler; click ! to make a spoiler, and paste the URL inside.
Note it has to be the URL of the actual image - not the page containing it. The URL ending in ".png" or ".jpg" or whatever. For example, putting http://imgur.com/hn5u9dm will link to that page, not show the image.
You can get the image URL by right-clicking on it and 'copy image location', or something similar, depending on your browser.

Lava Workshop complete, unless I find problems later.
The front door. I think I like this design. It's a little fancy for a remote mountain monastery, so I might make it more in-sync later.
Here is the workshop itself, with a wide FOV:
This is a complete redesign of my original lava workshop. Instead of the water flowing downward, it flows from the back. An observer on the left watches the space. When you mine the obsidian block, it sends a signal through a pulse extender (to stop it from sending multiple pulses) to the dispenser. The dispenser is fed lava buckets from above, and just pours the lava into the water stream for the player to mine. Empty buckets are pulled out of the dispenser through a hopper/filter system underneath and returned to the player. The button visible in that last picture is for manually forcing a dispense.

I've spent about 80xp enchanting 4 sets of iron armor and weapons in preparation for going through the End Portal. It's designed to be expendable - nobody's going to be upset if it's lost in the void. I'm not sure yet when we're going to go thru the Portal. The only two non-family members of Eranil not only have been playing other games, but they live in Houston, so they're just a weeeee bit preoccupied with other matters right now. Yes, they are safe.
Besides the enchanting and the farming necessary to do it, I've been cleaning out one of the lava pools from under Oshewani and converting it to obsidian. I've played around with rebuilding my lava workshop design, but rather than look up the design, I'm rebuilding the design from scratch. I might come up with something better this way.
And finally, I've cleaned out the witches from the iron farm. I need to boot some villagers back up there to replace them. I'm trying to come up with a water elevator design that fits in with the current aesthetic, and can be left there permanently. The issue will be in routing it around or through the farm without disrupting operations. It's also tempting to do a few other modifications to it, and I just haven't had the push to start any of these changes yet.
