posted a message on Half Life 2 Rebel (Escape City 17) Cosplay : Help Needed On Getting The Right Stuffs!
Hello dwellers of the off topic section!
As you can tell from the title of this topic, I have come to this section of the forums to ask for guidance on getting some elements for the cosplay.
I really have been just having trouble with getting two elements of the costume together. The vest and the hat. The undershirt I can just get at my local thrift store, I can also get the some other items at either my local thrift store or at some store like Target; such as the belts and even stuff for making the segments on the legs and the left arm.
Now, I'm not that well funded, and spending a few extra bucks for something of better quality sounds reasonable to me. This is also my first cosplay, so I'm not going to try to make myself look like I just got out of a fire fight between a few combine, I just want to look well enough to look the part. If anyone was curious, I'm planning on going to the first Salt Lake Comicon using this costume.

    Thanks for the recommendations!

Plus, it is a Sky-themed map. Oh no.
No, I didn't mean to bring the hate. I merely meant to tell you that people might not download your map because there was no pictures.

    Hope I helped,

*le sigh* Yet again, there's a forum like this. I'm sorry to say this, but, no picks, no clicks. Just so you know what that means( if you don't know already), it means without pictures of your creation, people will think that it is a virus or some malware. I suggest looking at the post about posting your map that is on the main map forum for posting pictures.

    Sincerely,

It's a shame that this was taken down. I haven't tested it yet, but if the download link provided by Baiter12 works, I play it. If it doesn't work, I will be undoubtedly sad. D:

    The fact is this:

This has been tried SO MANY TIMES. And nearly all; save maybe one or two and one has long died and the other just had people editing whats already there into the 'new' block;, have ended in failure. The styles of the people are to varied. Plus people get bored of waiting for others to have the time, and want to work on it and the project ends up dieing. In that case it is a masive waste of time for those who did make textures that it is just not worth the time and risk to bother with something like this.

There was even a texture challenge based on the idea of a community pack, red VS blue, pick a side and texture for it, first to make a full pack 'won' it never even got a quarter of the way through before waiting on those that 'claimed' tiles got done, or people dropped out.. it never really took off and this was done for FUN.

The whole logic behind a community pack is just flawed from the get so. So many have tried, so many that were very well sorted out.. they have all died.

So yes, you are told the very same thing, as we who have been in this community and have seen such topics and ideals come and fade away that it is not worth it to try.

My personal suggestion is if both of you feel you can work together, dedicate yourselves to different sections of the pack, like one of you do the GUI/Items while the other does block textures. Then, open up a new WIP thread somewhere.

I don't mean to turn your thread into a negative-fest, I just don't want to see people wasting their time with already disproven methods. Really in the long run, it's probably better if you 2 go solo, or work together exclusively/closely.

More people = More mess, I guess is/was my final point. :P
Thank you both for justifying your two points, that was a whole mess up there. Epic, let's coordinate what textures each of us would do over personal Messaging, and leave this post to be locked and start a WIP one when we've done more work.

You know what, no, I'm done I'm not making it a community project seeing as you two are so against it. I'll do it myself.
Ok, that's fine with me. But this topic is going to be unused unless you use it as an update forum for the pack. Other wise this topic should be terminated. I'm sorta sad we couldn't make it a community project, but because of the complaints, I'd rather have people see the idea for what it is, and not try to take it on with hate.

    Thanks

Well sorry. But we see a LOT of topics like this around here, and most if not all are just people wanting others to do the work for them so they can then later take credit for 'making' it.
Look, the original idea for the pack was to create something that would be fun for role playing, building, and just for fun. We were certainly not thinking that we could get away with 1. stealing other people's creative works, and 2. saying that we(mainly Epic_Awesome1 but I plan on submitting some textures myself) created these works all on our own. Yes, it might not turn out "amazing" or "the new default" but at least it would be a fun texture pack for people to build and or play in.

    Good day to you sir/madam

Just wanted to say, if you want to help, you can post your texture here(in a direct photo of it, or a photo in which the texture is used)! I'm very positive that if all of us bioshock/minecraft fans band together, we can make this a proper texture pack!

Probably the best thread I've read today. I wish i could contribute, but I aint no artist. I wish I was, and I did attempt to make a Minecraft texture pack but it ended up looking like a rip-off of Coterie Craft.. But I will use this texture pack when it is finished and spread the word. And, hey, I might make a video or something.
Thanks! If this does get finished, I bet it will be awesome! Also, do you have any friends that are artists? If so, you could point them here if their interested! By the way, your profile picture is adorable!

And that would help me out so much, the 3-4 textures I've created so far have taken alot of work to prevent them from looking like this:

Yes, I wonder if we can pull more people into this, tell me, what textures have you done so far, and what do you need to do?

Since I didn't use a color wheel for the textures so far I had to create a rough one that looked like the colors in the gold block. I'll make one for the wood block soon.

I believe so myself, I was looking at a scene in this video: when he first got to Columbia and everything was lit by torch light and stuff.

    P.S. Glass completed:

Awesome! It looks great! I wonder if more people will help out with this and make it a whole community pack! That would be cool!

Here's my take at a Bioshock gold block. Used HSV Noise and Motion Blue to make this:

Cool! Very detailed! I was just wondering if you could incorporate the color wheel, because I was planning on using what the result of this forum to build little segments of Columbia, and some areas in the games have gloomy looking buildings, and I would like the possibility of that. I'll put a link to a video to help explain, but if that is too much for you guys it doesn't really matter.
    Link to the video :

    Thanks!

That tiles not so well, and it is too bright. I might do some textures for this.
