Hey! I have a pretty simple idea to add just a few ores and metals that I'd personally really love to have in the game. The topic is here. I'm dim and am having a difficult time getting Forge to work, and would love it if I could at the very least have some guidance.
Where did you put everything and did you check the second page of tabs?
The BBMM zip is in the .minecraft/mods/ folder, as well as the BBMM example zip (the one that was zipped inside the downloaded zip). The other files that were inside the BBMM example zip are in .minecraft/bbmm/.
I checked all of the tabs and I looked for it in TooManyItems. I doubt there are any incompatibilities, but the other mods I have are the aforementioned along with OptiFine.
Is this still active? I installed the mod and example according to the instructions but the new block and items do not seem to show up, neither in the creative menu nor with TooManyItems. I'm using the most recent stable version of Forge, 7.8.0. Could that be the issue?
This, I think, is a pretty simple idea. I've begun looking into making it for myself, but if there's someone else who actually knows what they're doing and would like to cover it, that would be awesome.
The mod would add 7 new ores and 9 new ingots that can be used in tool, armor, and block recipes. I think that each new material fills in a gap that vanilla Minecraft leaves open, and I feel existing expansions upon metals make tons of unnecessary additions.
Overworld:
Copper Ore
Tin Ore
Nether:
Silver Ore
Mithril Ore
Magnesium
Ender:
Cobalt Ore
Amber
Copper, tin, silver, mithril, and cobalt can be smelted into their respective ingots at a furnace.
Crafting together a single ingot of two materials can yield a new unrefined metal. Unrefined metals can be smelted in a furnace to create an ingot.
Copper + Tin = Unrefined Bronze
Iron + Coal = Unrefined Pig Iron
Iron + Pig Iron = Unrefined Steel
Gold + Copper = Unrefined Rose Gold
Characteristics of the new materials:
Copper is greenish-brown. Copper ingots can be burned in the furnace to make copper wire, a green substitute for redstone wire. Tools made from copper are as durable as wood and as fast as iron. Veins of copper appear shallow and mid-depth and in clusters of 4 to 12. Veins are as common as iron.
Tin is greenish-gray. Bows made from tin rather than wood shoot arrows with 1.5x as much force. Tools made from tin are as durable as stone and as fast as wood. Veins of tin appear mid-depth and in clusters of 6 to 12. Veins are marginally less common than iron.
Silver is purple. (That was a joke, it's silver.) Silver can be used in place of iron when crafting arrows, and a silver arrow is twice as damaging as an ordinary arrow. Tools made from silver are 1.5x more durable than iron and are as fast as iron. The appearance of veins is not dependent upon depth; they appear in clusters of 2 to 6. Veins are marginally more common than iron.
Mithril is violet. Tools made from mithril are twice as durable as diamond and as fast as diamond. Veins of mithril appear mid-depth and deeper and in clusters of 1 to 5. Veins are slightly more common than diamond.
Magnesium is dark green. Tools and armor cannot be made from magnesium, but blocks can. Magnesium blocks are flammable like logs. Magnesium can be used as fuel in a furnace and lasts twice as long as coal. It can be used in place of coal when crafting torches, and the magnesium torch burns blue instead of red. The appearance of veins is not dependent upon depth; they appear in clusters of 2 to 7. Veins are as common as iron.
Cobalt is blue. Tools made from cobalt are as durable as stone and as fast as diamond. The appearance of veins is not dependent upon depth; they appear in clusters of 3 to 6. Veins are marginally less common than iron.
Amber is red. Tools and armor cannot be made from amber, but blocks can. Amber can be eaten as food and replenishes as much energy as bread. Amber can be used in place of slime when crafting sticky pistons, and the green on the piston appears red instead. The appearance of veins is not dependent upon depth; they appear in clusters of 2 to 8. Veins are as common as iron.
Bronze is reddish-brown. Tools made from bronze are as durable as iron and as fast as stone. Tools made from bronze are 1.5x as damaging as iron in combat. It does not appear as an ore.
Pig iron is orange. Tools made from pig iron are 1.5x more durable than iron and as fast as iron. It does not appear as an ore.
Steel is light gray. Steel can be used in place of iron when crafting arrows, and a steel arrow is 1.5x as damaging as an ordinary arrow. Bows made from steel rather than wood shoot arrows with twice as much force. Tools made from steel are as damaging as diamond in combat. Tools made from steel are 1.5x more durable than diamond and as fast as iron. It does not appear as an ore.
Rose gold is pink. Tools made from rose gold are as durable as stone and as fast as wood. It does not appear as an ore.
I'd like to make Minecraft sound a little nicer than the clinks and sometimes really immersion-breaking effects that are there by default. What are my best options?
I used to really love The16pRPG, but then it stopped being updated. What's the most similar texture pack that is fully compatible with the most recent version of Minecraft?
Looks nice :3 Will it be mostly focused on just going out walking around and exploring? Or will there be fighting/surviving aspects? Will it be an MMO or singleplayer?
The idea is for pacifism to be a virtue. Combat will heavily favor against the player so that you're influenced to choose different courses of action. I don't believe there are any plans for it to be any more than single-player, though I don't think I could rule out the possibility of some extent of cooperative multiplayer.
You wake up to the sight of a beautiful alien landscape after a group of terrorists attack your fleet. You've crash-landed, but were saved by the technology of your craft, sacrificing itself for your safe landing.
With no weapon you set out into the wilderness in search of civilization, hoping to rejoin your fleet and return to the war being fought galaxies away.
Thus begins Deshori, an exploration-based FPG.
Things are not entirely as they appear as you cross the seemingly calm desert.
Strange creatures, abandoned cities, violent nomads, giant monuments, and many other surprises await you along the way.
Deshori is an indie game project in the works by one Derek Sneed and one me, with the intent of creating some genuinely interesting AI, among other neat features. Problem is that the idea of getting this done without any kind of funds is pretty fantastic. So, if you've a few bucks to spare we'd be hugely grateful if you were to check out our kickstarter, where if you give us at least eight of your dollars we will give you a copy of the finished game, in exchange for that discounted price.
Regardless of whether you love us enough to give us your money that you managed to scam your boss or allowance-paying parents out of, I believe this is going to be a wonderfully interesting experience of a game, and you should keep a look out for it. However, if there's any time when your contribution could directly mean the difference between a game existing and not, this is probably that time.
The demand is on the internet connection, not the machine. I can run a server fine, but the lag makes it unplayable.
And no, minecraft multiplayer is absolutely not peer-to-peer. Peer-to-peer is a system which cuts out the server and connects players directly to each other.
I want to play minecraft together with a friend or two, but doing so means either buying a server, since the hosting software is insensibly demanding, or playing on a server with a ton of random people and asinine addons.
I want a peer-to-peer multiplayer system that allows a small number of players to play minecraft together without all the overhead.

Solution: make it possible to censor strong language if the player wishes to. Cater to both audiences.

I agree wholeheartedly.

If it changes anything, I also have an extra copy of Portal and I also want L4D2.
