Alright, suggestion of a new look to the topic:
[b]RUBBER IN MINECRAFT![/b]
So i had the idea, since rubber comes from the hevea tree in brazil, what if in minecraft we could have it?

So heres how it works, so thee hevea tree will spawn on jungle edges or in jungles or sometimes on plains, this tree can grow ( wood part ) up to 5-7 blocks high and may have the final wood block at the top curved diagonally form the one below, this tree will add a new type of wood, wood plank, and sapling, the wood planks will have a yellowish brown colour to them.

Creating rubber is fairly easy, once every wood block has been removed from the tree, just as saplings do, latex will drop, which appears as a white liquid, smelting will result in a piece of rubber, which (
with 9 ) can be crafted into the rubber block

The rubber block appears as a black, thick material, the block has gravity, so it will fall, walking on this will result in particles scattering on the block you are stepping on. falling from a ledge onto a rubber block will reduce fall damage by 50%-75% ( might be a little high ) timing the jump right by jumping as so as you land will result in you bouncing 3-5 blocks high, jumping on it lets you go 2 and a half blocks high instead of just one. Lastly the block is flammable and will spread fires.
[b]Sulphur and other extras[/b]
( as suggested by creeperskelly ) maybe sulphur could be found near surface lava pits in order to increase durability and potentially add more uses. ( extra ideas by me ) maybe there could be a rubber golem, made from rubber blocks, that can jump 5 blocks high and does not take fall damage. latex can be found in blacksmith chests in villages. sulphur can be used as an alternative to coal ( it comes in ores about as rare as coal ) it can be used as a furnace fuel, torch component ( sulphur torches have higher brightness ) and as an alternate to gunpowder in TNT, maybe as a component for a potion of healing/ poison stopping .
