posted a message on No mining blocks above the nether

you probably know that you can place blocks above the nether but not mine them, I've read that this is an intended function and I think that's just asinine.

there's no reason to limit building above the nether, the PC can do it. there's nothing actually stopping us except the annoyance of having to remove blocks with TNT. But, the hindrance shouldn't be there at all, there are a lot of great farms that only work above the nether and with our spawn cap being so low these are some of the most viable options for gold farms, ghast farms and XP farms. all of which are borderline useless inside the nether cube on console due to the spawn limits.

posted a message on Villagers dissapearing when passing through a nether portal

I was trying to move some villagers from a village to my base, I transported them through a nether portal where I had a transit system in place. when I traveled to the nether all of the 12 or so villagers I had were gone.

I checked everywhere around the portal, under or inside blocks, nowhere to be found. then I tested it in my creative world and the same thing happened.

so aparentl villagers can't travel to the nether at the moment? not sure, be wary.

posted a message on beacons in the nether

While it's technically possible to make
beacons in the nether by breaking through the top layer of bedrock with
an ender pearl, It's annoying and near pointless. You will only get
effects when in 50 or less blocks of the nether ceiling and that's
assuming you make the largest beacon pyramid possible.

On PC you simply have to expose the top layer of bedrock and the beacon can pass through it, that's not the case on Xbone.

I don't even think beacons should require unobstructed veiws to the
sky, the main reason to use one is for mining, which happens
underground, where there is no sky. Even though you are only required to
dig a 1x1 hole straight up, it still makes the beacon feel a bit
useless. what if you're mining at bedrock level, that's a lot of layers
to dig up through (hope there's no laval). It's only effective within a
hundred block radius, you'll need to move it a lot while mining.
    especially if you branch mine.

also, the beacons vertical range is reduced to the horizontal range
on the xbone, so instead of 256+ vertical(upwards) blocks you get 50.
    WOW.

either way, the beacon should work at least somewhat lik the PC
version, I spent hours gathering materials prepping to make a beacon to
help me with a project in the nether, only to find it doesn't really
work in the nether. Might just chuck the useless thing into a lava pool
and continue the struggle with the terrible enchanting system. I just
want efficiency IV, stop giving me bane of the arthropods and blast
protection. don't even get me started on Lure III.

I clicked on the Xbox suggestion thread. Not sure why it sent me to the PC thread, but I'm not surprised, the site has always felt like something made in the mid 90s.

posted a message on blaze spawner not working properly...

they should remove blaze from the spawning pool. We have blaze spawners we don't need them spawning in the fortress with the whither and skeletons.

It's stupid to expect people to slab 128 blocks around a spawner in the nether.

worst of all I can't seem to find any wither skeletons. I find tons of Ghast, magma cubes, skeletons, and blazes wondering around but it's ridiculous trying to farm for the wither skulls.

Hmm I was thinking this might be an issue with more then 100 views and no responses I was a bit worried that the images might not be showing for people, and I did make a post about this the other day but..... well lets not go there, evil eyes are watching. :)

Sadly the build is in the neither, and its dark, worse is that most of the structure is built out of neither brick which again is a dark block, however the images even to me seem so much darker then they did when i took them. I'll try to post some new shots that I'll run through photoshop and maybe I can vamp up the brightness and see if that helps.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

yea you may want to brighten them up a bit, any photo sharing site will have tools to adjust that.

Without mods there are no lockable chests, at least not on the PC version, there is chests, trapped chests, and ender chests. Unless they are creating a unique item? That texture pack is horrible IMHO, it reminds me of the plastic one which i hate. In that texture pack that could be how ender chests look maybe. I guess time will tell. But if trapped chests are being brought forward that's cool, it will make storage rooms sooo much more compact now. I've got my fingers cross now for the red-stone block, I have my doubts but at this point in time ya just never know. Even if it didn't provide power having the ability to store it in block form would be nice, plus you gotta admit red-stone blocks look very nice.

now that i look at it I do think it's an ender chest. thought i saw two different chests, but the cobblestone wall in the hotbar was the other. plus the ender pearl looked like a block of emerald sticking out of it, threw me off.

tamor I think that may be cheese if it's not bread. I think i saw someone mention that. but i don't know

i tthink the end is only 400+ by 400+ in xbox version

yea and visibility is really low, maybe 30 blocks. plus there are almost as many blocks in the end island as there are blocks in a super-flat world. still it's a cool place to build.

    tripwire hooks

    carpet tile

    planters

    quartz stairs

    sideways logs

    mossy cobblestone walls

looks like some sort of alternate chest, maybe lockable chests?

You just need to worry about finding two of each animal. Once you have 2 of them you can just keep breeding them as long as you have the breeding feed. Why hunt all over the place for more animals?.

this is technically true, but ever animal that does not despawn cuts into the number of animals that can be bred, this can be an issue if you have multiple farms (ergo. a large multicolor sheep farm,a cow farm and a pig farm), It's not a huge issue unless for some reason your world has a huge quantity of trapped animals that cannot despawn.

and theres no official release date for TU14 yet.

Did nobody notice that the buttons on that tu14 screenshot were the xbox one buttons?

several people did. though it likely doesn't matter. like mustache said its jsut their way of confirming they are working on xbox one and 360, likely whatever hits the xbone will hit the 360 as well. at least as far as TU14 goes. there's definitely the posibility of divergence at a later date. but i think for now they will try to update them side by side.

what do you mean by Natural health regen? ive never heard of that option. it sounds like my kind of option though.

yeah but why risk getting burned to death when you could just break blocks instead :D

or you could create a funnel trap and not risk being burnt at all while getting tons of rods and dust and xp.
