i make 3x3 corridors, floor being made out of wood planks and bricks. every 4 square i put logs on the wall instead of bricks so i can put a torch. i then open up a door path in the corridor wall and then build a room the size i need for the room i want to make (storage, farm, bedroom, brewery, library and farm) i'll also sometimes make a room with stairs going down to diamond level and make my mine there.
i find this is the best base for me as i have everything accessable, it's easily defendable and it's also easy to decorate.
My territory is quite large, although most of it is pretty empty, i build my structures (watchtower, stable, house, farm) near points of interests like forests of a certain wood type, villages, dungeons, etc. and connect all these stations with roads of gravel bordered by cobblestone, In my previous maps i used underground minecarts but now with horses added i use roads since it's cheaper to make roads and just as fast to travel with horses. (and wyverns fom mo'creature)
I think It's a great start, 30 minutes to an hour isnt long in minecraft and you made quite a lot of progress, especially considering the size of your spawn building.
I don't know if you are looking for suggestions on how to improve it but i thing rounding up the angles would be great and that glass roof would look awesome, if it was full with leaves, trees, vines and such. Looking a bit like an oasis with the desert next to it
I agree, it depends on what rules you put on yourself while playing minecraft. Personally i don't consider it cheating, my minecraft is about fun and i dont like dying and going back to get all my stuff in the middle of monsters who will probably just kill me again.
So when i am about to die or that i died and need to go get my stuff back i turn my world on to peaceful and then when i am back to a safe place then i turn it back on normal with a lesson learned.
It's not cheating in my opinion its only avoiding ruining my fun and thats different for everybody.
oh cool! gonna get my kids to work for my townfolks asap! very nice mod btw, love that villagers finally have are kind of part of the personal story of my character instead of only traders
Shame loved the idea of having a family and having everyone run around doing chores but as adults they seem more like a burden then anything since they don`t defend themselves or the people around them.
My children once they grow up to adults don`t seem to be doing anything, they just walk around, i can't give them chores anymore and they wont protect me either, is this normal?
maybe as a side quest or even part of the main quest.
Cold winter nights
The villagers know at the door of your domain. The nights are cold and they lack the strength to hunt the wild sheep that roam the wilderness. They plead to catch a few of them and raise a building to keep them in. So that the villagers can use their wool to make clothes and warmer blankets.
The exact requirements.
Build a barn and bring/raise 6 sheep inside. Add a chest full of wheat to feed the sheep and a pair of shears.
What (If anything) you get by doing it.
Thanks to the heavy work of the villagers, they now have a regular supply of wool for you that you can use in the decoration/building of your home.
I really liked your map, I'm only starting trying out people maps but i found the story interesting, had me questioning if i was Canthuris or maybe it was a past self of mine. I did feel like it was to open ended and lacked it back story. We never get any answered on who he was and why we are "chosen" to finish what he started or how the road appeared. Like LettyWhiterock mentioned having the whole story inside the game would keep the immersion better and keep from having to fiddle with files.
Maybe this was made on purpose for a part 2 with the same character?
Personally, i would have liked the "wrong answer" roads to not end so abruptly, maybe have a "dead end" house with a funny sign or have the 3 people name house with more funny banter. I just felt disappointed when i got to the end of the roads and there was nothing at the end to explore.
i can see how minecraft would get boring for some people. In these "make your own adventure" kind of games, if you don't have projects you end up wandering aimlessly. With nothing to do, I personally just see myself as a settler in minecraft. i build a city or have a certain project, once I'm done building it I pick up a sword, bow, some food, torches and some tools and go out exploring until i find a new inspiring land and start a new settlement there.
I then connect my previous settlement with my new one with a road and then move on. Sometimes you get an idea for a building that would fit well in a previous settlement so you end up going back and building some more. It becomes a lot of fun and you never get bored. :smile.gif:
you can do that with redstone i think (if i understand what you mean correctly) and just put tnt at the end, it doesnt quite have the same look as gunpowder but maybe it would be possible to change the texture to make it look that way.
I personally want to see gunpowder used in guns and canons in a future update :smile.gif:

Also a starting server so it's a great way to get some good land before it's all gone and get a good head start for all the action :smile.gif:
