((Formal apology for abandoning everyone --
"Yes, well, that's all and good, but most people notice when you snatch a book out of their hands..." I pause in thought. "Then again, not all people are seeing out of many eyes at once. If we are able to make multiple distractions throughout the city simultaneously, she would be focusing elsewhere and wouldn't notice if a quick switch was made in front of her own face. The only problem is, what do we replace her book with, and where do we go after we get it? Ellesmera, perhaps?"

So, this bug hasn't been resolved yet? I have smooth ligthing set on maximum and game patched
with MCPatcher, but I still keep getting lots of these. Any workaround?
No. The reason these occur involves Minecraft's lighting code that saves a lighting value for each side of a block. Sometimes, in world generation, these values are messed up for whatever reason, and the only fix is to update the lighting by standing in the block, changing lighting nearby, or breaking and/or placing blocks.

Ok, let me try to get that straight. (I´m sry if some of my expressions don´t fit: no native speaker/writer).
Let´s assume I start a new game in version "Default". No mods whatsoever, terrain is generated, I build something, then save the game.
Now I start the launcher again and this time chose version "Mod xy", with integrates some new blocks for example. Suddenly I find the savegame, created 5 minutes ago. I can load it, play with the new mod?
Is that intended? But what is going to happen, when I load this savegame in "default" after that? Modded blocks gone? Or does that savegame get "split up" in two different versions?
I hope you understand what I´m trying to figure out...
I do see what you're asking, and I'm sure that the save won't split into two versions. It really should have been a feature of the launcher to make separate save folders for separate versions but it does not, for now. You'll need to just keep worlds clearly labeled and use the correct ones for the correct versions. If you do want something that will make separate folders, I think you should try out the magic launcher, but I don't think it works with 1.6 as of yet.

Hmm, judging by the witches stressed powers, this strategy makes sense. By enslaving dragons, she'll be able to spread her influence without need of a huge army. "Do we even know if she's capable of controlling a dragon? I don't recall her ever doing so, and even if she could, where would she get enough dragons to take over a city?"
May 30, 2013((Hmm, I don't really know what to do. I feel like our characters will just pass each other, with Concor and Arinola on the streets and you hopping across the roofs. I guess maybe you can just spot us since you're apparently looking for us.))Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
"Alright, try to stay either 20 paces ahead of, or behind me," I whisper. "That way, if one of us bumps into a minion, we'll have some room to back off, and the minion will have less of a target." With that I start pacing forward at a fair speed, without making a noticeable amount of noise.
May 28, 2013The minion comes walking up the staircase, obviously the witch is sparing no effort in controlling this one, it's eyes focused on the stairs ahead. I make an effort to breathe slowly, and he walks past me as a bead of sweat rolls down onto my brow. I quickly run down the rest of the steps. "Let's get out of here, Arinola."Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
Deal with it.))
May 28, 2013"Sicam? The assassin turned hero? No, I haven't heard from him. After the three dragons and the gray folk attacked, I separated from the group, since I felt I'd be rather useless in the war against them. I've been wandering around these past seven years, helping and healing those I encounter. So, I haven't heard from anyone in our little group, until today." I continue walking down the stairs for a moment, and then I hear something: footsteps. "Make yourself scarce" I whisper as I again activate the invisibility spell and press myself against the wall of the staircase.Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
May 28, 2013"I think we should confer with Nathaniel. He always seemed to know what to do when it came to the witch. Did he leave his body behind when he went to the shadow dimension? I think I left mine behind when I went with him." I get up off the staircase and offer a hand to Arinola. "You're right: one can hate someone till their last day on Earth, and it wont get anything done but waste time. So let's go do something about this."Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
May 28, 2013((Sorry my posting schedule's a little erratic. Also, Tektonic, can't you just sort of look back a few pages? His name's something like gales10 if I remember correctly. He was sort of bonded to your character as her sort of rider. I do hope he'll come back, I could tell you guys were going to be a pretty integral part of the plot.))Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
I can tell Arinola isn't pleased about hating her. Like most elves, she likes to keep a tight stranglehold on her emotions. "Emotions are just a part of life. If you didn't have them, you'd be no better off than the mindless slaves the witch now controls. Just remember that for all the hate you feel, it is possible to feel as much love. For all the sadness in the world, there is just as much happiness."
May 27, 2013((You didn't want to post IC Bobert? O.k.))Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
I head over to the trapdoor, and climb down. "Can Nathaniel not come out of the shadow dimension for some reason?" I ask after waiting a minute or so.
May 25, 2013I'm usually not very good with detecting emotions, but it's fairly obvious that Arinola is feeling a range of emotions from anger to sadness. I step forward and pat her on the shoulder. I signal that we should go back down through the trapdoor, so Nathaniel can come safely out of the shadow dimension.Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
May 25, 2013After reactivating the light bending spell, I climb up the trapdoor after her and silently close the trapdoor after myself.Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
((I guess we should stop here, since Bobert apparently has a plan, and I don't know whether he thinks she'll be here/should be here.))

For such a successful game, the updates are extremely slow in coming. The list of new features is rather small for the time allotment, and the lack of a modding API is disappointing. Overall, still a good game. Just wish Jeb had some help.
Just my two cents, take it as you will.
I think the reason for the slow updates is that other than completely new players buying the game (which, technically, is considered a finished game)they are not making any money on updating it. All players get the updates for free, so they don't have as much encouragement to work on it. Also, this update had a HUGE change in the game's code, with many new, cool things. Frankly, I think it's great they're still working on it at all.

Also for all you complaining 1.3 isnt out:
Jeb is going to release 1.3 as soon as he can. There is probably only going to be a pre release now, no more snapshots. (Its been 12 weeks since 15a >.>) Jeb said its basically done except for performance issues, which he fixed most of in 26a and is still fixing some. He also said the bugs that are still here will determine the fate of 1.3. In other words those bugs (minor) will probably have to be left there in 1.3...
So yeah im hoping this thursday will be the pre release then friday will be the real release. If not it will be next week. Please dont complain and let 1.3 be bug free!
I agree that people should stop complaining, but I don't agree with you on how soon you think it will come out. The LAN game system seems to be done, I just tried it with a friend, it worked really well, however, there has not yet been a snapshot with the modding API in it, and I am almost 100% sure that has been confirmed for 1.3. Unless Jeb is trying to give us a nice surprise with a well done modding API that was not tested in a snapshot, I think it could still be a while until the update.

1. Sorry, I actually sort of got ninja'd by you (we posted at roughly the same time)
2. Good suggestion, but you need an account to vote or suggest. With a poll, everyone can join in.
Jun 26, 2012I would like to repeat Bmandk's suggestion as it is good, yet seems to have been ignored: he suggests that a completely public poll be put up at the top of the discussion (or somewhere else where it will be noticed). I suggest that items developers suggest in the discussion be added to it as the discussion is going. This seems like a good, entirely feasible and easy way of getting in everyone's opinion.Posted in: News
