"I've dreaded the day birds entered Minecraft for years"
Weird, I thought everybody liked birds. The game feels dead, full of trees and no birds. Lakes, oceans and no fish.
Eh, Jeb has hinted at the possibility of birds in the past but seeing the theme of this update it seems unlikely. The reason Zombie spawners don't spawn Zombie Villagers anymore is due to an internal code change. Now, the two are by code, separate mobs, rather than a variation. This is to allow for the use of the extra spawn eggs we got.
They should add a naturally occurring zombie villager spawner to fix the broken zombie spawners that no longer spawn zombie villagers.
Will 1.12 have swimming fish or flying birds or will zombie spawners work again spawning both regular and zombie villagers? New blocks are nice, the patterns look a lot like the ones in Rising World.
What is "Imagen"? I don't use mods. I like Vanilla. I like the idea of the larger End world but not all the purple. I don't like that my game strategy of traveling until I find an area with a zombie spawner and area I like; settling down and using it to painstakingly obtain and cure villagers was ruined. I wish they would put fish that swim and birds that fly into the game. But stop updating it? Because mods? I don't use mods. A lot of us don't.
I'm pretty sure that you could only ever cure baby zombie villagers, not just any baby zombie, and the thread linked to specifically mentions baby zombie villagers (as well as the particular quote; "I would like to confirm that naturally spawned baby [zombie] villagers can indeed be cured"):if (var2 != null && var2.getItem() == Item.appleGold && var2.getItemDamage() == 0 && this.isVillager() && this.isPotionActive(Potion.weakness))
(a code snippet from 1.6, the version current at the time of the thread. "isVillager()" is an entirely separate tag from "isChild()")
That said, I've never even considered using a zombie spawner to get zombie villagers myself - I usually have no trouble finding them at night, or when caving, when it isn't uncommon to kill 200 zombies in one play session, or around 10 zombie villagers (5% spawn chance. Actually, this is a 5% chance that a pack of zombies will be villagers, same for babies). Plus, I don't even do any caving until the "end-game" so it would only be by luck if I found a spawner early on (in one world found a small surface cave with one right at the entrance, which I investigated since zombies kept coming out of it; more recently I found a dungeon in a cave that intersected my branch-mine, the only time I explore any caves before then).
By far the hardest part of curing villagers is getting potions, which requires going to the Nether and finding a fortress (you could get a witch to throw a potion of weakness at a zombie but witches are even rarer than zombie villagers). If you want multiple villagers it is far easier to let them breed than cure more, especially if you want to get certain trades like Mending books; you can breed villagers underground if there is access to the sky, such as a 1x1 opening to the surface (you can place 20 doors around a single opening and breed far more than 7 villagers by moving them out of range).
I suppose dark room spawning, luck, hoping you don't get a creeper that blasts them away, etc. is the way to go now. I have never had a use for spawn eggs in vanilla or on vanilla servers. They just made the change to satisfy the kiddies who want spawn eggs on non-vanilla servers designed to pacify them. Maybe that's better, they will be more likely to stay off the vanilla servers.
Edit: The real irony is that the first year I played the game, I would destroy zombie spawners. Then it dawned on me, they were the occasional source of zombie villagers. Trading! Even on PVP servers I could have a nice, secret, underground base and still level up and have nice tools and weapons.
Maybe it's possible to make a dark room that uses pressure plates to dispose of the non-zombie entities or something?
Do zombie villagers not spawn at spawners any more? This is key to being able to have an underground, hidden base and still be able to have villagers to trade with. Please tell me this was not removed or broken?
>> Without exception, Pocket Edition has outsold PC Edition in every country in the world.
It's pretty surprising, I can't stand the pocket edition, can't stand any games on a phone except Solitaire. Trying to play Minecraft with a swipe interface is the only thing worse than trying to play games on a console. Both are terrible experiences compared to game play on a PC.
Can we trade with villagers in the Windows 10 version yet?
1) Boats should not break when hitting a squid or some other creature.
2) We should be able to craft different sized boats, different configurations.
3) After the boats are fixed and we can craft different sized ones then we need a roundtable on the lack of animals and other friendly and hostile NPC's like villagers but they live in cottages in the forest or on the plains and a roundtable on why there aren't more interesting village sizes and variations and other POI's scattered throughout the world.
Not bad but on Windows 10, Escape no longer lets me shut down the app. Also I noticed my villagers are breeding now which is cool but right-clicking them I still can't trade so hopefully that's coming in the future.

Can't even go near water dungeons if I do I get like 3-5 fps.

Slime blocks. Really? Two years without the promised mod API, and the best thing you guys have accomplished is improved map terrain and Slime blocks. These updates/releases, and everything else coming out of Mojang right now are less than useless to the modding/server community. Focus on the Minecraft MP core, and get the damned API finished. If you can't, stop jerking around the people who can, like Forge (an actual damned working API that's stuck at 1.7.2 due to lack of support and lack of direction from Mojang).
I mean seriously, Minecraft is Mojang's bread and butter, because they will likely never release another game as popular; certainly not Cobalt, and certainly not Scrolls. Get some talent in there, and stop treating the game like it's a distraction.
Or is part of your 10 year plan to sell out to someone else before 10 years have elapsed?
