posted a message on New BOSS?

First of all, you forgot to mention how we encounter this boss. It had better be somewhere remote that you would never stumble upon by accident, like the End, or summoned like the Wither.

Secondly, what does it look like? I need to know how big it is and how it moves. Does it walk on land? Does it hover? Details please.

Thirdly, hard does not equal good. I can't imagine anyone having fun with a boss that can kill you this quickly and easily. All the knockback it does is also extremely annoying. In addition, padded does not equal hard. 1,000 hp? That's five times the health of the Ender Dragon. It'll be a long-winded battle, and once you figure out how to avoid its attacks, it'll begin to just become a boring endurance test.

I will give you some points for fleshing out the boss. I'll be honest, the idea isn't bad, but it needs a serious nerf. That includes the drops. Even if your idea as it exists was implemented into the game, your new armor would mean no more challenges for you in SSP and SMP. The armor should just be one piece that does something unique, but doesn't provide much protection.

Anyway, I give this minimal Support, mainly because I'm an optimist.

posted a message on Please make story or quest mode already!!

I'd just like to point out that "sandbox" and "story" are not mutually exclusive. Skyrim is a sandbox game, but it still has a detailed story.

I'd also like to point out that this already exists in the form of Minecraft: Story Mode. A lot of people think that game's story sucks, and if Telltale can't make a good story out of Minecraft, how can you expect Mojang, a group of likely amateur storytellers, to do any better? If a story does get put into the game, it would need to be a good one, but I doubt that would happen, so No Support.

This can be useful in adventure maps and probably automatic farms, so I don't see why not. How about an inverted version of it where the redstone signal is always emitted until the glass stops.

Can't that be done with just a NOT gate? I don't see the need for an inverted version.

However, this is very useful and one of the most creative ways to make a redstone delayer. I'll admit it, it's better than mine.

posted a message on Biome-Specific Caves: Less gray please!
    Quote from VoltisArt»

Support. I like the idea of needing silk touch to retrieve spikes (icicles & stalagmites/tites) and the potential for building piston spike traps. I think some of the ideas you've presented may be a bit overthought, but even a little biome-based variation underground would make mining much more interesting.

Hey, what can I say, I'm good at overthinking things ;).

I'm not sure about the cave grass, however. Perhaps more types of fungi (slime mold, mycelium, more mushroom variations,) should be abundant underground, and some plant life could grow near light sources like lava and player-placed light sources.

Not everything needs to translate to real life. I don't think it's a good idea to use mycelium as that's supposed to only be found in one biome, and making plants only grow near lava will likely just lead to a bunch of fires and the player would rarely encounter any plant life.

All plants should need some kind of light to grow and live. There are no plants that naturally grow in real-world caves, but for those that get blown in and try (almost hopelessly) to survive near the surface...and those that grow in man-made light. This includes moss.

Well, I don't think it's too big of an issue. That may be the rules on Earth, but in Minecraft, blocks float and you can even find random flowers and grass underground already, so I think it's safe to assume Minecraft doesn't abide by the same laws.

Not sure if Mojang will do any glowing mushrooms...the 2D competitor has those already and I'm sure both companies try to keep their product unique.

I don't think that's ever been a huge issue for Mojang. Minecraft is pretty different from Terraria already, so one little block that exists in both games with different properties shouldn't be an issue. The mushroom could be green, to increase the difference.

Regarding the lava underground, I say never mind the additional stone casing. Let it melt some ice upon chunk creation and let the water & lava build a mass of cobble and obsidian. There could still be some blocks of lava (and water) within the resulting form, keeping mine life interesting.

Interesting. However, the main reason I picked stone was actually to give these biomes another source of it, as stone is more uncommon in snowy biomes.

How about white cave spiders and silverfish in cold biomes? There are insectoid animals that live in deep caves, (eating fungus or each other,) and they tend to be albino. Look into "troglofauna."

How'd you like to see this guy in an ice cave? (Eyes glow yellow.)

Cool idea, and maybe I'll put in some kind of ice silverfish, but I don't think I'll put in another spider variant, seeing as we already have the cave spider.

posted a message on Launcher Creeper Face

It doesn't do anything. According to the wiki, there used to be a button there to change the language, but they moved that button and changed the original button to a creeper face. As an Easter Egg, it will occasionally be the emoji "¯\_(ツ)_/¯".

    Quote from Bohose2014»

Holy cow did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed. Man there's no need to rip the OP because you are having a bad day. Minecraft by the way is my favorite game and I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600.

I wasn't having a bad day, I just didn't see how something that has nothing to due with the actual game meant that Minecraft was somehow the best game of all time, and then presented my only opinion on why I think that Minecraft is only an "ok" game. Please don't assume that because I say something harsh that I'm trying to be mean.

I am not the owner, but have OP due to being a head builder. But, There are no command blocks that are needed to run the server, or trigger anything.

In that case, you can try getting rid of it using /fill.

    /fill ~7 ~ ~7 ~-8 ~-62 ~-8 minecraft:air 0 replace minecraft:command_block

Use this command in the center of each chunk near the area you get the message. If you see it in multiple places, that means the command block has been copied and pasted over various locations in your world, or has put it in a spawn chunk. In that case, it may be best to contact the server owner to see if he can close the server and check the world in MCEdit for the command block.

My guess is there is some command block saying this somewhere as a trollish joke. If that's true, the command block should only do it when you're nearby or if it's in the spawn chunks. Do you own the server? Are there any other important command blocks on the server?

If you're in creative mode, you can try quickly breaking the pressure plate.

If not, you can try typing / as soon as you spawn and try to type /gamemode c. I believe opening the chat postpones the death screen.

So, just because some people make some animations for the game, that makes it the best game ever? That may say something about the Minecraft community, but that doesn't have any effect on the game. I've seen some pretty great animations based on other franchises like The Legend of Zelda, but I'm not going to call that series the best ever simply because of its community.

Personally, I don't find Minecraft to be my favorite game; it's a good time-waster, but I've had a lot more fun with games that possess significantly more depth like Terraria, Skyrim, and Zelda games.

I think I found another Easter egg. After a while in the new launcher, a witch pops out of the side of the screen. has anyone else seen that?

That's probably the same Easter egg I mentioned in the second post of this thread. I've never seen a witch before, but I haven't tested it that much.

Mods make Mojang's work on adding new features to Minecraft completely pointless.

Even if that were true, that doesn't make modding illegal. Mods are only illegal if they violate the EULA, and the majority of mods don't. Either way, I don't think there's a possible way that applying mods to your game can be illegal.

    Quote from MrForumer»

This block is pointless. Also what gave you the idea of a serious name? Minecraft is not made to be serious or realistic.

Care to point out why it is pointless? In addition, the name is one of the least important parts of the suggestion as that can be changed easily and isn't likely to be used by Mojang should this end up in the game anyway. Also, why bring up realism?

posted a message on Education Edition is killing Minecraft

First, why do you think modding is illegal? It's perfectly legal, at least in the way it's done on this forum.

Second, you do realize the NPC mob is just a glorified sign, right? Everything you can do with the NPC, you can do with commands in-game.

Thirdly, what border block? You mean the barrier?

You're complaining over nothing. The Education edition doesn't really have any "real" exclusive features; it's just streamlined for a classroom setting. In addition, I haven't seen any loss in sales of other platforms being caused by the Education Edition.

You're just giving a bunch of baseless thoughts. If you have any hard facts backed by actual evidence, then feel free to present them and people might give your opinion some mind.
