I am currently residing in Singapore, and will be for the next year or so before I move back to the USA. I have experience on FTB and vanilla servers, but I am looking for a vanilla whitelisted server that allows PVP, but only if both players agree on it. No griefing or war servers and nothing with any out rageous rules. I am willing to donate some cash to help cover server costs if need be. Here is the break down.
IGN: iwishiknew
Age: 24
What I build: Functional buildings. I like for all my buildings to have a purpose, even if that purpose is just to hold armour for my small folk that populate my castle.
Other: I have never been banned from a server, and many people seem to like my builds, even though they do take a while.
My requirements:
Whitelisted
No griefing
PVP allowed if both parties are okay with it
non-damaging pranking allowed
Mods/admins don't abuse/uses mod powers unless absolutely needed (glitched chunks, restoring griefing) and not for their own gain (adding in items, TPing players around, ect)
Very few resets. I'd prefer something like the Mindcrack server is doing, explore all you want to X location, because on the next terrain update Y direction will be used to get that terrain.
Preferably semi-new or brand new so I can have a help in building the spawn village and participating in the discussion.
Prefer the use of Skype for communication, either calls or text.
Allows recording, though I don't do much if any of that.
Application: IGN: iwishiknew Age: 24 Favorite things to build: Large, functional applications. I love building buildings that look nice and also have a function, even if the function is only for in game purposes. My proudest build lately has was on a FTB server where I was working on a multi-building castle with massive walls. Sadly the server is down, but I do have a back up of the map. Why you want to join: I haven't played vanilla since early 1.6 or maybe 1.5, and I want to get back into the game. I miss building and I want to try the new blocks out. Something interesting or fun about you: I'm currently living in Singapore. I used to do a youtube channel, but didn't get much attention and, if I do anything now, it'll most likely be educational related vlog channels, but that will be a while.
I have a lot to do with them, even in vanilla. Stairs and fence posts would be nice. I think an obsidian door would also be cool, can only be opened via redstone power and is blast proof.
Stuff to do with Obsidian:
Build a Panic Room in an asteroid hits/your base gets overran
Build a giant shrine room to your avatar/s
Build a pathway out of it
I've honestly never though of doing that, I just use an enchanted pickaxe with effieciency to mine wood and then an enchanted sword for fighting. I normally only have an axe if I'm doing a lot of forrestry, such as deforrestation.
I've been telling myself for months now that I would love to raise money for Child's Play Charity via video gaming. Currently I donate through Far Lands or Bust, located at www.farlandsorbust.com and will continue to do so, but I also wanted to start my own. As such, here is the plan:
I've set the goal at $1,000 USD and the start time of July 1st, 2013 at 1AM.
I'll be playing Minecraft, but will be using a Feed The Beast mod pack. Currently I'm looking at either Ultimate or Mindcrack, with GregTech installed.
My goal will be to mine out one 16x16 chuck from top to bottom. All items mined out, from cobblestone to wood to diamonds, will be either put into a chest/barrel, or made into machines. None of it will be destroyed needlessly (so no lava pits, void pipes, ect) and all liquids will be put into Iron Tanks, once I have the iron for them. Untill than I'll make a lava pit/container some where or use tanks.
I am currently planning on recording the entire chuck clearing, then fast forwarding it and doing a commetary over it, trying to get a time of around 20-30 minutes. All interesting events, such as near deaths/deaths, dungeons, ect, will be played regular speed.
My topics would be based on current topics from the scientific community, my current interests, current life, and topics/questions from donators and commenters.
The current name of the drive is Chunks for Charity.
You can watch my current videos in my youtube channel below, and/or subscribe when the time comes. If you have any suggestions, comments, or ideas on the charity or how to improve my channel to make the drive more successful, please leave them below.
Even if you don't like my idea and think it's stupid, I do request that you still think about donating to Child's Play Charity so that kids less fortunate than yourself can have a better childhood.
And saying people are playing using Alienware doesn't help your argument, alienware isn't any better than a normal gaming laptop, you just pay for the looks. I run FTB on both my PC and my laptop with less lag than I do tekkit servers.
As for paying to play, not to sure I'd be interested in that unless it came with some type of perk. I can pay a little bit more than the 5 a month you have listed where I could choose who can get on, reset if I needed to, change and modify the pack, ect.
Why would they upload videos to your channel when they could have their own? Am I misreading that, are you trying to make a youtube group that you lead but is composed of multiple channels?
The valve box, as far as I have heard and researched, was a test bed for valve software, not a canidate for a PC/Game Console hybrid. The general idea is going in the right direction, but I don't think it goes far enough.
*facepalm* was I rating a game souly based on graphics?
I have a Wii with a few Mario games that are console exclusive, the best console exclusive I have is probably Animal Crossing or Pikmin.
but since I have a 40" 1080p television the low resolution makes the game look like someone run out of resorces and thus, I dont like playing on my Wii so much.
PC is superior to consoles in terms of almost everything. At some point Consoles where better but times change.
For FPS the PC requires more skill than built in aimbots.
You made an argument for graphics, I countered it. My point is, it'd be awesome for you to be able to put Pikmin 3 in, scroll to options, set the graphics to "ultra high def" and play it on your 40 inch TV in settings that would choke every console game.
Ohh goodie, a stupid post i can pick apart bit by bit
1. Building a PC is super easy, especially with the way things have been dumbed down and simplified. Saying you can't put a PC together is like saying you can't do one of those simply shape puzzles children do...
2. How am I fanboy? Can you further explain?
3. 95% of console games are on PC, the other 5% are party games. PC games are also far far cheaper, especially with the sales companies such as steam do Since last summer I have picked up about $1000 worth of games for ~$200 (about 80 games), that other $800 can be spend on peripherals, building a PC, or better yet saving up for a car/college.
4. This is my all time favorite argument, well on of them, in regards to controls. Yes, consoles can have add-ons such as mics, or game wheels, etc. etc. However, I can get all those things for my PC too. In fact with a PC i have more freedom, I can use a mouse and keyboard (far superior to a controller when it comes to fps games) I can use a controller (good for racing and 3rd person fighting/combat games) I can use a wheel (good for racing games, duhh). PC gaming peripherals tend to be cheaper, controllers will sell for about $20-30 as opposed to $50-60 that Microsoft Sony and Nintendo will charge you.
On top of all that PC's can be used for soo much more, I don't even know where to begin...
1. I agree, building a PC is super easy, but not everyone can do it. We think its simple because we work on them all the time.
2. I apologize, I missread your earlier statement and thought you said "PC games as they are far superiour."
3. Do you have evidence that 95% of games are on the PC and all the rest are party games? Kirby games aren't on the PC and they are not party games, the new Twisted Metal is a PS exclusive and isn't a party game. Those are just two I thought of.
4. I'm not trying to argue that console systems are better and PC systems are worse, I agree with you. I also know that, if a company such as Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony can set it up to still make exclusive games, still have their own controllers (and you can always buy knock offs) that they can sell, and still get brand reconition, they are going to do it. By combining console gaming with PC gaming, we can still keep the great games coming and also move away from the mandatory gaming consoles that cost hundreds of bucks and instead get some that, hopefully, cost 70 to 100 bucks.
PC games (unless ported from console) amazing, 10x better graphics if you have the PC to do it and alot more playable (except Racing games, maby).
Building a PC is like Lego, but more expensive (in most cases) and fragile.
I hate to break it to you, but graphics aren't everything and just because you have a lot more playable doesn't mean it is a great game. Super Smash Brothers, Paper Mario, Gears of War, Halo (though it was ported to the PC later, it debuted on the Xbox and all but remade the FPS franchise), Resident Evil, Jet Force Gemini, Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and many, many other games are console exclusive or started out on consoles and prove that you can do a lot with a little.
Building a rocket is super easy, solving integral calculus is super easy, planning a complex dinner for 2500 people is super easy. You and I may think building a gaming PC is easy, but other may not. PC Games are not always far superior, stop being a fan boy and look at facts. Some PC games are amazing, true, some console games are amazing. It depends on what they are there for. The benefits of having the USB addons is that it will allow game makers like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo to still do "exclusives" and still use their own controllers but not have to force people to buy their systems.

I've started a charity drive on Child's Play Chairty located here, note that it hasn't been approved yet, so all donations will go to Child's Play Charity but not count towards my dirve: https://donate.childsplaycharity.org/11adf9b1f0dc51d39a3a61c4017e3e3a
