In my current survival world I'm trying to incorporate all my main buildings into my main base instead of spreading them out throughout the biome. So far I've just got a main area with a mostly decorative kitchen and living room (kitchen includes furnace, cauldron, and some chests, living room just has a crafting table), a crop and small tree farm, an animal farm, an enchanting room, and a bedroom. Further down the line I will put a brewing stand somewhere and maybe some related accessories. Possibly a darkroom mob spawner too, or find a way of hooking up a cage spawner I found deep underground. But other than this I'm getting a mental block on ideas. So ideas and suggestions would be really appreciated - please and thank you!

Sorry I'm no help whatsoever, but I love your castle!

Really?! Played for a year or two now and never noticed - to be fair I did only relatively-recently discover that there is a key for sprinting other than double-pressing the forward key (which I don't think does work on horses but might be wrong?). Are horses sprinting with the sprint key faster than when they run without sprinting? Or is it just a FOV effect as Fallen_Snipez mentioned? Please and thanks!

Do the bookcases diagonal to the enchantment table, blocked off by the other bookcases, still power the table? For example:
(the crafting table represents the enchantment table)
Do the bookshelves on the four corners still send power to the enchantment table, or not? Please and thanks!

Thank you so much for all the lovely feedback! Wasn't expecting so much positivity - I'm pleased with my world and how far it's come, but I've seen some really beautiful and professional-looking builds and although I know many are done on servers as opposed to single-handedly like my world, I still don't think mine matches up in many ways.
A particular thank you to AvionPhoton for such an in-depth and helpful review - I really appreciate the constructive criticism as well as your positivity, and you've given me some great ideas in progressing my world further! The road you approached from isn't actually the main entrance (likely a fault of my own, I can't remember where I was positioned in the last world save file I uploaded, so I likely left the player positioned in a misleading place). The actual 'main entrance' is the pathway steps at ground level beneath the train station - it needs more work to make it stand out more, I'm aware. The road that you approached from is actually a railway track, although incomplete - I do agree about making the straight part more curved and natural-looking - I still want it to be facing in that direction as that is the aim of that particular train track, but I think I'll do another little bend before it goes straight. Also to be honest the dodgy train station signs are there to remind me of my intentions/indecisiveness over the directions of my rails - I'm worried that if I remove them I'll forget which ways they may or may not be going! But I agree with what you're saying. I'm finding it too awkward to keep going back and forth from your comments to my reply, and to reply in a fluid manner, and I feel bad as you've put so much effort into your review and I have so many things to say and want to say everything. I don't know if you already do reviews frequently as a hobby, but if not I think you should as you're clearly awesome at reviews, you've structured it in a way that makes it a pleasure to read, and you went really in-depth and gave me some great tips which I will take on board - I particularly like the idea of banners for curtains, and would possibly like to incorporate more banners in general. I also love your ideas for the communal greenhouse and pub - flowerpots for glasses is a great idea, as well as a theme for the pub! In regards to the farm - I am vegetarian myself in real life, however in Minecraft I don't follow those principles as I don't want to limit my creativity and the possibilities of the game any more than I have to, and I know that I'm not physically harming a living creature by harming an in-game animal. But I do understand the idea of bringing your IRL values into MC, and I think it's awesome that MC is a flexible enough game that it's possible to do so!
Thank you again for such a great review - I'm planning on taking a fair bit of your advice into account, if you'd like to follow my progress my creative world thread is linked in my signature as well as in my original post on this thread, and I plan to keep it updated, so you're more than welcome to check in further down the road and give feedback whenever you see fit - as is anyone, it's always appreciated as I'd like to better my world!

I imagine the bed is still there, just not functioning - as stated, the game doesn't remember previous beds, so if the last bed you slept in is obstructed, it will automatically send you back to the spawn point! I'd recommend just digging a bit extra space above the bed and then sleeping in it again to make it a functional respawn point

Does anyone know of a mod or anything that will give me old cave generation - with more caves and trees growing underground, etc? Or anything to make caves a bit more interesting - cave biomes would be interesting and I feel like maybe I've heard of that before?
Please and thank you!

Thank you so much for the feedback so far!
I get what you're saying and I do agree - if someone suggests something I don't like, then I have no intention of building it! But I'm at a point of 'artists block' I guess, where I could really do with some helpful inspiration to better my world - but only in a way that I like too.
Your world looks fantastic. Is everything in one single area, or are your buildings spread out over a larger area? I get a little dizzy looking at your screenshots - they look like they were taken with a wide angle camera and are distorted around the edges, which I am not used to, so I don't get the full appreciation.
Not 100% sure what you mean as there's obviously variable definitions of 'larger area' - basically the village is situated in a Savanna M biome, and I've tried to spread my buildings out relatively evenly over the course of the biome; there are paths branching out from the town centre in different directions and such. So it's not all cramped on one part of the mountain - I've extended the village to pretty much the entire biome, but it doesn't really extend beyond the biome (yet... I have plans way down the line to make connecting villages in different biomes). Also I totally agree about the screenshots, it's because I have my FOV set to the highest - which is useful when playing but does ruin screenshots a bit. I haven't quite got the knack to making good renders in standalone programs yet, but at some point I think taking some better screenshots will be a goal

I've been working on a particular world for over a year now, and whilst on one hand I feel like I'm getting to a point where it's really coming together, on the other I'm struggling with inspiration. There are certain areas that I'm aware need improvement, but I've got myself into a habit of doing the same old things and I feel like it's getting harder to create buildings that make myself and others think 'wow' when they see them. I think I need some more ideas on decoration and embellishments and the like. But also, just general building advice. I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism, negative or positive feedback, strong/weak points, etc. I've been struggling to get feedback at all, so any sort of feedback is appreciated!
This isn't an advert for my world, and I'm posting in Discussion as this isn't a thread of a world I've made, it's a post looking for advice and wanting to discuss building techniques etc.
I would really appreciate feedback, please and thank you

Why don't you try making a new save file, and playing it without bothering to install any mods, resource packs, etc (so you don't have to worry about messing up your current save file), and see how you like it? Then you can decide for yourself whether or not the updates are worth the effort of updating your mods, resource packs, etc?
Sep 3, 2017indiahawker posted a message on When a chunk gets corrupted, how deep down does the corruption go?Posted in: Discussion
Sorry didn't make that very clear - 'corrupted' might not have been the correct word, I've heard people talking about corrupted chunks but was likely making an assumption there. I've added an attachment, unfortunately it's not as clear as it was as I've started fixing the chunk and therefore the house in the chunk has been mostly rebuilt, plus I've deleted a lot of the 'corrupted' stone that wasn't supposed to be there. As you can hopefully see, the original chunk has been replaced with a chunk pictured to the left - so I'm wondering if this will affect the underground too, and if so, will it be affected right down to bedrock or just to a certain Y level? I've tried digging down to bedrock in a couple of places but I can't tell as there are no caves that I've found yet, however I will try more as I could have missed the occasional cave. Help would be really appreciated though, please and thank you!
Sep 2, 2017indiahawker posted a message on When a chunk gets corrupted, how deep down does the corruption go?Posted in: Discussion
I assumed it would be corrupted all the way down to bedrock, but I have a corrupted chunk, and when I dug down into the chunk, some previously placed deeper down lighting was still intact. Not sure if I placed the lighting after the chunk became corrupted, or if the corruption only reaches down to a certain level. Some enlightenment would be really appreciated, please and thanks!

Although I know this won't be as good as the PC edition, I'm pleased to see that MC will be available on 3DS and I would actually consider playing it alongside MCPC. Assuming it doesn't work on the 'non new' version of the 3DS so would warrant getting a new 3DS - but would be a good excuse to upgrade at some point I guess

Thanks a lot for spontaneously delaying the release date. All I want is to be able to use Optifine and I'm regretting even bothering to use the snapshots considering it means no Optifine. I love the new update, but why the hell would you set a release date and then change it? If you don't know for sure then why get everyone excited for no reason?? Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft and don't want to slag it off... but don't tease your regular players
