That's exactly why I have my pick, shovel, then sword, with torches and blocks on my last two slots so I can quickly switch to slot one and scroll over to 9 or 8 for torches or emergency blocks.
This mod seems extremely useful, I'll give it a download!
For the key, you could use "F". It's near the "D", and I think it would work out nicely.
Btw, nice mod!
F sounds good, I'll be sure to fix it for the next version. Also, in case it wasn't clear, both keys are changeable through the default controls menu. Make sure to change it to something you like!
This seems like a great and useful mod. However, I'd recommend you to change the Tab key into a different key by default, as the Tab key is used to display people online on a server.
Ah of course, how could I have forgot! Any suggestions on a better default?
I am an avid software developer and minecraft player. After putting it off for many months I've decided to jump into minecraft modding. The mods I release spawn from my desires as I play, be it a new hotkey or a new ore. I hope you enjoy playing with them!
QuickSlots v1.2 [1.5.1]
QuickSlots is a small mod/tweak which allows you to quickly switch between two hotbar slots with the click of a button. No more fumbling around with the mouse wheel or number keys, just get where you need to go and get there fast. Keep your torches in slot nine and your pick in slot two? Simply pull up the QuickSlots Settings menu (defaults to "\") and click on slots two and nine. Now, press the QuickSlots Toggle key (defaults to "left ctrl") and voila, you will automatically be switched to the proper slot! If your having a hard time understanding what this mod does then give it a download, it's usefulness will become immediately apparent!
v1.2
- Updated to MC 1.5.1 (Forge 7.7.0.608)

That's all for now, but there is certainly more to come. I am open to requests, leave a comment below if you have any idea, or send me an email! You can view my other projects at my website, www.atlaswegman.com.
I got to give it to you its pretty good do you suggest any mods?
Thanks for the kind words! I really love RedPower 2, it's incredibly powerful. Definitely one of the best out there. Thaumcraft 2 is also quite well down. Check out Direwolf20, he's got some helpful videos
Sweet! I love this. Especially the server app; you should make a cutom GUI for the server. That'd be cool. About time us OS X users got some Minecraft tools.
Glad your liking them! I'll ask Mr. Lotter if he would like to help me out with some more gui's
Updated the jar extractor to 1.3! Fixed a critical bug preventing the installation of mods, and added the ability to change the directory which the files are extracted too.
Also, here is a sneak peak of a bukkit server starter I am working on with Ari Lotter (GUI Designer)!
Edit: Where do the extracted files reside? I can't seem to find them anywhere xD
The extracted files will be in a folder called mctmp on your desktop. I am currently working on a version which will allow you to change their location
Not trying to steal any of your downloads, but I've just released a few tools including a mod installer and a server starter! They are aimed to be simple, to the point, minimalist tools, but they've got some useful features packed in as well! While you wait for Gawain to update his tool, feel free to give mine a go! Check it out here
Also Gawain, I noticed you said you've been running into problems. If you need some help just let me know!

Hmm, could I have some more info about your system? Are you by any chance on 10.6?

Quick test, did this do it for you? If so I'll make a version for the server starter as well
