Spiders are actually fun now. However my holes are just 1x1 so pretty much immune to spiders. But was it fun to see them climb around, that really took minecraft to a whole new level. I hope Notch adds more monsters, monsters with CHARACTER! (like the creepers and... now spiders too)
I really like this texture pack. My only complain is the growing wheat. I have hard to tell when the wheat is actually done, i know its a little lighter but at times it can be difficult to tell apart.
Playing at hard i dont like skeletons, especially when you're starting new. 2-3 shots and you're dead. Period.
Creepers have the "surprise" but without it they arent that bad, unless you're playing SMP. At which point they seem to blow off just being near you.
Spiders... if you arent prepared a spider can cause havoc. They are easy to get by due to their size and easily trapped. Their speed and leap attack is what make them quite nasty.
Zombies, ive actually got killed by zombies a few times, i find them more dangerous playing at hard than anything else. They are pretty much only dangerous if they "ambush" you. For example you're digging in a cavern and without a warning one pops up and push you against a wall so you cant escape. It happens :sad.gif:
Chickens... nightmare mob really. Those eggs annoy the hell out of me. Its worse than dying.
Dont really play that much in the nether so cant comment on the mobs down there.
I put up a server on some computer and i and a friend managed to log in. It runs pretty okay with one exception. The monsters. Its like they glitch and act really weird unlike SP. Killing a monster is hard, doesnt the server/client run any type of "prediction" system? You start attack a monster and hopefully you hit it before it hits you.
It just seems like something isnt right with the server. I can run all types of servers for a huge variety of games and none have the problems like minecraft has. Why is this?
Following his mindset a company like Blizzard would never release a bug. Of course this isnt the case. As a developer you try iron out as much bugs as possible. However you can be certain some people out there will run into bugs no matter how hard you work with your code.
Everyone runs a computer not the same as the other guy so in the end the variety is high. For example since the beta update my performance dropped like a stone and the game is near unplayable. Notch couldnt have known this, he probably dont have a computer old as mine.
<edit> Seems this forum has its own fair of issues today too...
Right now minecraft is completely unplayable on my rig. I havent really had that much problem before now. Logged in a few hours ago and ran around with 9 fps. Wow. I dont have the best rig ever but its never anywhere near that bad fps normally.
Just be glad they dont blow up when they are blocked by a door/glass where they can "see" you on the other side. Soon they will learn how to open doors and break glass. Those will be the days my friend.
World of Warcraft is utter crap. If you do not know why then it is too late for you.
Minecraft however is a golden egg.
WoW fills only one purpose right now, its to keep all the terrible players playing it. You really dont want those players anywhere else since they create a rotten community. Of course WoW is getting old and people realize this, moving on to other games, and you really see the terrible impact WoW players have on these games. The faster Blizzard release Cataclysm the better. Hopefully the players go back to WoW for a few months giving us players some breathing space.
Unlike a mmo minecraft is 100% player driven. There are no quests or fancy gear to fight over. The players create their own challenges and rewards through building. While the RP part of minecraft is quite amazing i doubt we'll see anything close to a mmo anytime soon. Mind you mmo stands for massive multiplayer online. 22 players is a regular multiplayer game. Massive is when you have over 2k players playing on the same server.
Its no longer possible to drown a monster. They just keep jumping and never get sucked into water. However cactus+water still works since they keep jumping up into the cactus and eventually die. However the water alone no longer works for killing mobs ie drowning.
The thing is the areas need to be big, for example if you were to see a desert it shouldnt just be a couple of tiles. It should really be a desert. The same goes for all the other various types tiles to create a environment. I hope the preview video of biomes was just a small sample of and not what to expect! The 'desert' areas were basically just a handful of tiles with desert texture on them. Quite disappointing. But like i said i hope that was just a small preview of the concept rather than what we'll see in game.
<edit> The next thing id love to see is the need to EAT and DRINK. For example if you were walking in the desert during day time you would need to consume more water. Maybe having eat/drink for hardest difficulty but i think it would add a very nice elemental to an already great game. It just feels odd when you're down digging a mine and you dont have to drink or eat at all. Yet, you take falling damage, you can drown, something can kill you.
