    posted a message on Custom NPCs

    I have one more question. Is it possible for players to view their previously completed quests through this mod? I know that it logs it through the in-game NPC config, but as a non OP player, you seem to only be able to view Active Quests.

    try in the killed tab
    event.getSource().name
    for the player name and tell me if it works <_<

    That worked perfectly. Fantastic, thank you!

    Question on scripting. I'm trying to have a custom NPC run a console command on death, which I've figured out how to do, but the problem I've run into is trying to get the player name of the player who killed the NPC.

    The command I'm trying to have it run:

    /class exp playername 5

    The script I've tried using:

    npc.executeCommand("/class exp " + player.getName() + " 5");

    This exact script works fine if I set it to activate through interact with the NPC, it just doesn't work on killed. I think this is because it doesn't register a player killing it as a player interacting with it, so it is unable to get the player's name through that method. How would I adjust this to get the username of the player who killed the NPC?

    posted a message on ★ RedSkyCraft ★ - SkyFactory 2 Modded SkyBlock Server
    Server IP: mc.redskycraft.net
    RedSkyCraft is a fun and friendly SkyBlock-themed server running on the ATLauncher modpack SkyFactory 2 (currently on version 2.2.3). Here you can build crazy contraptions and machines in the sky with a modpack specifically made for SkyBlock. To reduce raging and hostility in chat, PvP is disabled and griefing preventions are in place.
    Features:
    - GUI Shop system (Access the shop anywhere without teleporting)
    - Lucky blocks (A voting reward, Lucky blocks will drop players random items)
    - Mazes (Several mazes are available at spawn, cash reward for completion)
    - Vanilla world (In case you're afraid of heights)
    - Auctions
    How to join:
    Download and run the ATLauncher and create a new instance for the SkyFactory 2 modpack and select the latest version (current is 2.2.3). Under optional mods make sure the only mods you install are Veinminer and Lucky blocks. Tails and MorePlayerModels is fine to install, but not required. Do NOT install any other optional mods, or else you may run into disconnect issues with the server.

    Yeah, just upload them to your server with your hosting provider by connecting to FTP either with a client, such as Filezilla, or a web-based system that they may or may not provide. Just about every single host will have some method of file administration.

    Oh, well if it is the same account, then that's a bit different. Again, if you are a cracked server, I highly advise switching to online mode=true. If you aren't a cracked server, then he's figuring out a way to get himself unbanned. I'd suggest looking through your server logs to see if anyone ran the command /unban {his username}
    Perhaps one of your staff is helping him out against your will, or perhaps one of your staff's accounts have been compromised. If that's the case, a whitelist probably wouldn't solve anything.

    posted a message on Player Bans
    Well IP banning is always a good practice, but anybody who has the knowledge to use VPNs or Proxies or the like to change their IP, can bypass this pretty easily. If you haven't tried IP banning him, do it. Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll be too stupid to figure out how to change his IP and rejoin.
    If he ISN'T an idiot, then you have a few options.
    1) Whitelist. Impossible for him to bypass this unless a whitelisted player's account is compromised. The whitelist doesn't need to be permanent (unless you want it to be, there are pros and cons to keeping it), just maybe a week or so, or even just a couple days. Most players in Minecraft (and gaming in general) have a short attention span, and will give up on trying to get in rather quickly.
    2) Have active staff who moderate and ban troublemakers frequently. Yeah, he might come back often, but if he just gets banned within a few minutes to an hour of rejoining, and any grief rolled back, or impossible to do, he'll get bored and leave.

    Odd for him to have so many accounts to use. Eventually he'll run out though, they aren't cheap. However, if you're running a cracked server, then he can pretty much come on as much as he wants. If you are running a cracked server, I'd highly advise switching your server to online mode = true. This may solve this issue.

    posted a message on Rank Skipping
    It all depends on the rank up plugin you're using. You could try assigning permissions to rank up to tier 2 only available if you're already tier 1, and tier 3 available only for tier 2. If it doesn't let you do this, then perhaps you should look into a different plugin or restructure your ranking system.

    posted a message on Looking to start a hub server need sponorship
    Sorry buddy, but you're not gonna get a credible hosting provider who is willing to give you 6 8GB RAM servers for free, let alone even ONE 8GB server for free. There are loads of hub servers with all the features you listed, many with hundreds to thousands of players online at once, that you'll have to compete with. Ask yourself this: "Why would an average Minecraft player join my server instead of the thousands of others out there?". Find something original and be creative with ideas, then expand on good ones that are unique, fun, and engaging. Another tip would be to start out smaller. You don't need 6 8GB servers when you first start out, unless perhaps you have the funds to get #1 listing on minecraft-server-list.com, but if you had the money to advertise there, you shouldn't have to ask for a sponsorship anyways. I suggest starting with 1 server, around 2-3GB or less even, create a community, then expand from there. Last tip would be to rework your sponsorship application and provide some more details. Here's a good guide you can follow when making your app:

    posted a message on Minecraft mods that nerf griefing?
    First off, this thread would be better suited for the Server Administration forum. Plugins are essential to just about any multiplayer server these days, so I'd suggest installing an anti-grief bukkit plugin such as CoreProtect, LogBlock, or HawkEye, along with WorldEdit and WorldGuard to create protection regions (WorldGuard can also disable fire spread and creeper block damage). To be able to run bukkit plugins on a forge server, you need to install the correct version of MCPC+ (or bukkitforge, but I prefer MCPC+).

    Here's a tutorial on how to install MCPC+:

    *Disclaimer - I have not personally watched this video and cannot confirm on its accuracy

    Download MCPC+ builds from here:
    http://ci.md-5.net/job/MCPC-Plus/

    Make sure you have the correct MCPC+ version installed, and make sure it is the same minecraft version as your forge version. It'll generate a plugins folder if everything works correctly, and then you can install bukkit plugins like you would in a typical craftbukkit or spigot server.

    Cheers!

    Well, who really cares about the Kids Choice Awards anyways? Just because Minecraft wasn't the top voted doesn't mean that it is a lesser game. Perhaps the Minecraft playerbase is intelligent enough to not even bother voting on trivial things such as the Kids Choice Awards.... but then again, maybe not... ;)

    That is because you have to validate raw data. The site was trying to parse through HTML code as well so hence the errors. Just copy and paste the actual text from your pastebin link into the text box, don't do "validate url".

    If you copy and paste your .yml file into the link's text box, it'll show on the right side in red text what line is producing an error.

    posted a message on Rolling back a server
    I haven't really used LogBlock, but I've used HawkEye and Coreprotect before. I checked the LogBlock BukkitDev page, and they say that they have WorldEdit logging support, but in their configuration info page they don't provide any info on that. Either way, if LogBlock wasn't configured to log WorldEdit changes from the start, changing it now would be useless in helping fix your WorldEdit grief. Sorry to say, but I don't think there's a way to undo the damage due to the circumstances. Looks like you'll either have to restart the world or repair on your own. If you can't figure out how to log WorldEdit with LogBlock (perhaps it isn't possible), I believe CoreProtect has documented WorldEdit logging support, and is frequently updated, perhaps you could use that instead in the future.

    I'd also recommend looking into exactly how this ex-staff member managed to OP himself so you can protect your server from vulnerabilities. Setting the /op command to be disabled in-game and only usable by the server console usually helps quite a bit.

    Just checked the file and you have spacing errors. Check them here:

    http://yaml-online-parser.appspot.com/

    Remember to NOT use the "tab" key for spacing, use the space key instead to avoid issues.
