Sep 6, 2011godhand205 posted a message on 1.8 Updates: Animal Actions, Secret StuffPosted in: NewsQuote from Sacheverell
A short while ago, Notch talked about some of the exciting behavioral changes in animals for 1.8 - most notably, how they will now flee when attacked, rather than stand there and stare at you. This ended up having the added effect of wolf attacks looking more "natural", in a sense, as prey would now flee its attacker, rather than look around blankly and grunt. He went on to say that - due in part to the behavioral changes, and a desire to see more dynamic mob-to-mob interactions - he is beginning a super-secret weekend project! What does it entail?
We'll have the details when they're ready!
Interesting. I'll be looking forward to more intelligent game play. The only concern I have is how much longer will it take to release 1.8? It's already going into the weekend now. -

To make it more realistic, maybe the ships should randomly spawn. Maybe have say, 3 classes of rarity. A small, medium, or large ship with villager NPC's or hostile mobs. Take the ship over by commandeering it possibly?

Code was right, there was a small error where I had to set i=1 instead of i=0. This thread is now irrelevant.

I keep trying to translate this formula into c++ code and what I have is:
This is my code for the formula:
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
//
// FUNCTION NAME: computeArea
// PARAMETERS: const double x_coord[], const double y_coord[]
// RETURN TYPE: double
// PURPOSE: Computes the area of the polygon
//
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
double computeArea( const double x_coord[], const double y_coord[] )
{
// initalize area...
double A = 0.0;
// initalize i...
int i = 0;
// initialize sum...
double sum = 0.0;
// Loops 6 times to compute the area
while( i < 6 )
{
// Equation to compute the area
double A = ((x_coord[i+1]) + (x_coord)) * ((y_coord[i+1]) - (y_coord));
// Sums the areas
sum += A;
// Increments "i"
i++;
}
// Returns the area back to main
return (sum * 0.5);
}
