Wow, quite the original post! I must say that I have never seen a server application process quite like it. Before I go into details about myself I want to comment on your "cheesecake" question philosophy. It is quite blunt and true. Most every server application features the same 6 or so questions that often can be answered in a sentence fragment. That sucks.

Concerning my interest in your server, My name is Dylan and I am a 23 year old owner of a private entertainment business (I keep my clothes on, don't worry). This allows me quite a bit of flexibility in my schedule which I love to dedicate to minecraft.

I like to consider myself a secretive and excessive. There is a reason my skin is of Batman. I like to head off into the wilderness and create something epic and full of Redstone contraptions. At face value I may have a simple home or do some community Redstone farm projects but secretly much more happens when I'm quietly working away. Nothing devious but let's just say my last server discovered my home and was surprised to find it guarded by a rail system moving 10 ghast turrets around a moat of hand placed lava only crossed via an exploding/ rebuilding bridge. I like to keep things simple I guess...

One of of my favorite projects was spending a good 2 weeks building the Iron Trench secretly on a server in the middle of an ocean. Suddenly everyone began receiving mysterious chests filled with iron blocks once a week and nobody knew it was me. I revealed it to the owner and was promoted on the spot. Nice guy, we still chat. If there are members I grow to respect then I will show them my stuff and give them access to it always. It's fun having secrets like that simply because you can share them so sparingly.

I don't really seek any sort of promotion or admin status. When servers are small then grabs for power are pointless. If a server needs additional support then a raise in rank/ responsibility should be offered and never seen as a prospect to be pursued. I make this statement in regard to something you mentioned in your original post. Forgive me if it seems poorly integrated.

So let's cut to the chase with why I want in. I'm looking for a smallish server with a semi recent reset. I don't want to be another build lost in 10000 other on and off players. Your server sounds perfect and your lengthy post (although sometimes unbearably corny in humor) shows a commitment and maturity that is incredibly rare. My last server became a ghost town and my computer blew up destroying my precious single player world. One computer upgrade later and I'm very eager to start anew.

I very much much look forward to contributing to your server and do hope to hear from you soon. I have an interesting village concept base that I can't wait to embark on with the right people. Here is to hoping its you.

Alright, sorry this took so long!

First off, this may be a little short because I just got back from an Ultimate Frisbee beach tournament. I showered, but my whole body is still completely shot. My body is giving lots of complaints even just moving my toes up and down : P I had a blast though, it was incredibly fun.

The cheesecake question quote was a humble-brag of look-how-smart-I-think-I-am. The stuff I say about "cheesecake" questions are true, but looking back on that post, I kinda sound like a pompous turd (aww, they bleep out ar-se now, that's why I used to use it instead of as-s). I do still believe that those type of questions are stupid, but I think I can reword that in a better way. Thanks for the compliment though :D

Nice joke, saw from your other posts that it is an art business. Cool you found that niche for yourself, glad it's working out!

Well... uh... those builds sound nice. Two, maybe more things (counting isn't my strong suit):

      • Even if it's your preference, your uh... troglodytic (I don't know if this is the right word, but it sounds cool so I'm rolling with it) tendencies defeat a lot different structures that our server builds community on top of. Interaction is pretty important, and for me, that's why I play on this SMP instead of an SSP. I like to play with other people, prank them and etc. I understand the idea of being the mysterious kinda guy, but I would extremely disappointed if someone on the server didn't want to show me the stuff they build. It would stink if someone wasn't enthusiastic about doing random co-op projects, or even just messing around because they were being secretive.
      • The people who are admins on this server (myself, BenKrems, Espldex, and MrChopVG) will fly around and check in on you. It's a habit we've gotten into every time we log on just to check on everything, and it has saved us once in the past on our first map (You might have seen my extremely snarky reply to goproskier, he's the one that did that). In addition, it serves the community. We know who is working on what project. Because of this, the community gets a lot of information that helps make the experience more fun:
        • I can come on and take screenshots or videos of what you've built
        • Other people might want to help with whatever you're doing, and it's a lot more fun to do a project talking with a buddy on skype, especially if it's something tedious.
        • Or, another member realizes they have some resources they're willing to share that would speed up your project. This also fosters community, because it encourages further interaction; to pay off the debt in some way.

What I said above may not be true, I could have interpreted your meaning wrong. If this is the case, sorry I misunderstood you.

Your fourth paragraph is kinda weird, I don't really know how to respond. That seems like a nice way of look at it (?). We haven't made anyone else admin since the server started >2 years ago.

I agree with not wanting too many players; it's why I emphasize the community so much.

So I also looked at your posts, and all of your posts within the last year have been server applications. I looked up your minecraft username, found your youtube channel, couple of old balloon twisting videos, which is neat. Originally I was going to ask you to do a bit more, because I had a hard time figuring out what kind of person you are. However, because you've diligent, commited and hopeful (and a bit impatient :P) about my response, and some of the other stuff I found out about you on your website, you seem like an awesome, committed person and I'd be happy to welcome you on. (last thing, your website has a piece on the bottom that says "Enter your text or HTML code here" Looks awesome though, what builder did you use?)

I'll send you a PM with more info. Cheers!

I don't really know if I'm allowed to Skype, and I don't know how to use it anyway. I do have Steam, but don't know how to chat with it, and again, don't know if I'm allowed to chat with people I don't really know (no offense). I am pretty good at typing, so minecraft chat or forum PMs are fine for communication. If I need Skype to participate, I don't really think I can join, but nice server!

I'm happy you replied... but I fail to see how chatting on skype or steam with strangers is any different from chatting in-game. I understand if you don't want to video call or something like that, but just typing? How is doing that on skype any different from in game, it's just another medium that's more accessible for both of us.

Also, skype/steam is not a necessity. However, without it, it will be hard to include on server decisions/events. Not only that, but if you have a question for me, I... don't check this very often. I want too, but it's not of utmost priority. So, that plus the chance of not meeting in-game because of whatever timing issues, any question you have may take a day or two or even three to be answered.

Skype is not hard to use. You literally just download it, make an account, and send a request to someone's username, and then you type in a dialog box to talk with them and they respond the same way. It's probably easier than text messaging because you don't even need numbers, just a username.
    Quote from chrispang»

Oh... Shoot. I dont have a social life (and therefore no skype) but I will work on downloading it ASAP. I also have the benefit of 3 computers in the house so I can work on one and skype on the other! Hooray!

Well, awesome you're getting a skype... but you don't need two computers :P I may be misunderstanding you here, but having skype open on your computer is probably equivalent (hold up, lemme check task manager) to... having a chrome window with your email open. You can play Minecraft very easily with skype running in the background. Having three computers is still awesome though :P

The usernames Annoymous_X and Kevino36 are now whitelisted on the server, I'll PM you both with the IP and my skype.

    Cheers!

Also, MCFUser, I'm working on your reply, sorry this is taking a while.

posted a message on Elytra doesn't really live up to expectations

Hitting yourself with punch bows isn't a cheat; it's been in the game for ages. Check out how old this video is:

Alright, you got me; it's not infinite. It's only infinite for as long as your elytra durability lasts. But with unbreaking 3 and a couple of elytras in your inventory (48000 blocks gliding per unbreaking 3 elytra) you can go for awhile. However, this trick is in no way limited by your armor. Taking damage does not damage the elytra, and you don't need armor to fly :P You can use arrows of healing with an infinity bow, and that means you won't take damage. Also, 1000 uses? That's more than enough :P. One shot can gain more than 60 blocks of altitude, so that's a total of 60000 blocks of vertical distance with whatever armor you're using on. The elytra also has a 10:1 ratio of blocks moved forward to blocks gained (10 forward for every 1 block of altitude lost). So 60000 vertical blocks transfers into 600000 blocks in horizontal distance. That seems completely practical to me. Still, you don't even need armor.

Killing myself with bowshots? Like I said, healing arrows or just some food. You won't kill yourself. In fact, if you eat (which you can eat while gliding, and it doesn't affect your speed) constantly, you will have to make an effort to kill yourself using only the bow.

So traveling for as long as the elytra's durability will last in a single flight without ever touching the ground is not viable and useless? You can get yourself up to the speed of a player sprint-flying in creative if you know what you're doing! How is that not useful? Is being able to jump off a cliff and glide over chasms, far away from whatever was chasing you useless? Is being able to ascend ~200 blocks in less than 15 seconds (without needing to build any sort of contraption) useless?

All of the things I listed above seem very practical, so practical that it is completely worthy of end-game status. Transportation, especially at this high of speed, without any pre-built infrastructure? That's awesome, incredible, and useful, no matter what point of the game you're in. Also, these are fun along with being useful. If you don't think so, please, by all means, give them to the other members of the server you play on and watch them enjoy themselves. Let's say you and a friend with an elytra are given the location of a new water monument in the middle of an ocean. You could be slowly paddling your 1.9 boat across an ocean, only to see the guy you gave your elytra to rocket past you because he took ten minutes to eat lunch before starting off, and he still gets there long before you.

I will repeat. This is not a bug. It's nowhere to be found in bug reports and it has existed within the game for over three years.

posted a message on Elytra doesn't really live up to expectations

Why hasn't this been brought up yet?

Elytra is 100% worth it. Why? Because infinite flight is easily possible. When I say easy, I mean 10 minutes of practice easy. Really easy.

Punch II, or Punch 2 bows + elytra. You can hit yourself with the arrows for infinite thrust and altitude gain (once you get good at it, you can gain ~60 blocks with a single arrow).

    Still don't believe me.

I'm astounded no one posted this before me.

    Cheers!

Application for Annoymous_X Hello Fugu, BenKrems and anyone determined enough to scroll down all the way here (Good for you!) My name is Chris and my IGN is Annoymous_X (Now... Where have I seen THAT name before? *Hint: At the top of this app.*) I come from Hong Kong (Spy for the communists? I think not!) and have reasonable English skills. I'm humble, see? Well, enough of my random mumbles. Here's the dirt on myself.
I am twelve years old, and am currently in middle school. I love minecraft and play it whenever I can, which is basically every other day. I like building sci-fi, fantasy, underground, and metro themed builds in minecraft, and I don't really feel like using redstone. I do some utility redstone, but that's pretty much it. (Don't worry, I have some VERY innovative ideas for farms.)
One of the side hobbies of mine is creating custom mobs with commands and some trickery. (Stuff like Shadowblazes [blazes with spiders on top {eyes} which are invisible], Skeletal Cavalry [skeletons riding skele-horses with invisible silverfish acting as pathfinding].) Preettyyy cool stuff, yeah.
I am mostly kind and helpful (Though sometimes my "Help" may... how do I say it... influence matters.) Once I saw that the town I was living in on one of them towny servers ran out of pigs and cows and went to a lot of trouble to get some back-Involving wheat, leads, trading for slimeballs, nearly drowning, nearly starving, some mild animal abuse and praying for minecraft donuts in 1.8. They didn't come. Now that I think about it, however, I'm not above the occasional prank, on second thought. (Is anyone that good?)
I've tried joining a few servers (see my forum posts) but was very rejected by the people I found there. Some of the people in factions/raid servers are the worst. I mean, I get it that killing is a key part of the experience on this type of server but some of the despicable tricks they get up to for your loot just make you want to shout **** into the chat. I am currently looking for dedicated, kind, and helpful veteran player servers and it looks like this one is gonna fit the bill.
Thanks for reading my app, please PLEASE reply soon, and I hope to see you guys on the server!

Oh, and a note. That picture of my avatar saying PLANETaria is actually the name of a texture pack I'm working on. (No promises~ ;)).

Oh jeez. I stopped using Minecraft Forums. I'm a terrible person, I cannot express how sorry I am. I say the same to AbsentFuture.
I'll still do a full response.
First paragraph had some solid giggles from me :D
That's a lot of build genres wow. To be honest, I'm not that much older than you, but that's never a factor.
Hey, that's exactly the type of stuff we need for custom mob spawns on the server. I've got a better system for spawning them now, but I don't know if people want me to implement it. Hopefully yes though. I can customize the spawns much better and it should prevent a lot of the issues I've had from the past version (mob clusters, lack of despawning, not random-enough spawns). The more ideas for mobs the better!
Great attitude for the server, we mess with each-other a lot on here too :P Did someone say doughnuts? :D :D :D :D
Yeah, hopefully (if you'll find it in your kind heart to forgive me) you'll like ours, I've found similar problems with other servers, just like you said. Too much betrayal on those servers. You'll be on a first name basis with most of the players, so anything of that sort becomes obsolete.
There is a new IP for the server, you can reply and I'll whitelist you along with posting the IP (and I'll check with more diligence this time). I'll also PM you my skype, which I hope you have.
    Quote from AbsentFuture»

Um I really don't know what to talk about, perhaps that I like command blocks, nice people with grammar and interesting OPs. I've started making command block requests on another thread, which makes me happy and motivated. You seem really nice and funny, your humor somehow resembles my own (Wtf, 1 million days a week..I play 1 billion frames a minute). Anyhow, if you'd like me then I'd be happy to try out the server. I'm not really good at survival though, I'll try my best ^^". I'd be able to make command block contraptions for the server too, if you'd like. I live in Sweden by the way.
Thanks for reading this, and I hope you'll reply. ^^

    Wow. Going through your posts.

You're polite, helpful, knowledgeable and committed. (Ho ho ho... look at the guy talking about commitment when he hasn't replied to your comment in months) Thank you for applying :D

The app isn't especially long, but you're the type of person I would ask to join this server if I saw some of your posts while I was browsing the forums. I have to apologize again for this taking so long, I have no excuses and only ask for forgiveness.

I'm thinking of adding some commands to the server, (which is currently in 15w44b, and will be updated to each snapshot if I believe they're stable enough).

Reply and you're accepted I'll give the IP and my skype (in PM), I'm still sorry for the inexcusable delay.
    Quote from Kevino36»

My name is Kevin, and I am 13, although I consider myself mature for my age (bask in my humility). I live in the US, and started playing Minecraft in 1.4.2, and really like exploring worlds and seeing the amazing natural landscapes (not faction wasteland *shudders*). I love in astrophysics and math (I think I might be crazy), but I also enjoy building and doing stuff in Minecraft. I don't skype or YouTube, and no, I don't have a social life. I don't really play that often, usually only 1-4 times a week, but I can get medium sized builds done in a day or so. I don't really use redstone that much, but I can make a basic piston door (amazing, right?). I don't really like playing on huge servers, because all the gear is from donator perks, and that really takes away from the exploration aspect of the game. I prefer small survival servers where Pvp is only done when both parties agree to a friendly or not so friendly (gimme dose diamonds!) match. I also like it when there is still wilderness to explore, not where everything is all tnt-ed or covered in half-built bases. As a builder, I would say I'm pretty average, but that might just be because I spend most of my time exploring rather than building (excuses!). I usually prefer building in an area with plains/forest/river/giant oceans (picky me), and I like to make a small village of players where people build homes close to each other, and then terraform/build walls that look like natural landforms (imagine a kind of valley with a river that empties into an ocean). I will likely spend my first few days (or weeks) on the server looking for a place to build my house, and then actually building it. Then, I will probably invite other players to live near me and form a kind of mini-community. After that, I will probably explore around and get to know the landscape better, and possible make a second base (I'm so greedy, I know).
A few quick questions: Is this 1.8, or 1.9 snapshots? Is it alright if I use mods like Matmos (ambient sound engine), Journeymap (minimap), and NEI (it's in my mods folder and I'm too lazy to take it out every time I play on a server. It doesn't work for cheatig in items on servers though [I totally never tried doing that on factions. Not at all.])? Is Pvp allowed? (Hoping for a system where both parties agree first) Do you have some kind of chest-claiming system? Is there a /set home or other waypoint system in place, or do you have a Nether relay network? Do you have Dynmap?
Your server looks awesome, and I hope that I am accepted! (Oh yeah, and my username is also Kevino36)

Astrophysics? Neat! Math is especially useful (I'm not so much an expert in astrophysics :P) I'm still learning programming (well, I know a fair amount [bask in my humility aswell {bask in nested parentheses}], but you never really stop learning how to program XD) and man, when people tell you it's all math... they're mostly right. Bits of logic, lots of googling StackOverflow (there are some funny comics saying "How to program: write pseudocode > look up stuff in pseudocode on Stackoverflow > copy and paste. Nothing on stackoverflow? It's not possible"), and a never ending amount of math.

No worries about total time spent on friend, just as long you bring a little life to the world. It is more fun when people actually spend time with you though.

Ouph. Skype is needed. That or steam. I just need some way to reliably chat with you that is ambient on your computer (neither of us have to open our web browsers). It's just too hard to figure everything else out otherwise.

One thing you should keep in mind is it will probably be hard to find someone who wants to live with you in your town; all the players I know of are either independent enough to want to build their own base, or are either already close friends with someone else on the server, and they're living together. There will be an area near spawn that serves as a central town, analogous to Hermit Hills in hermitcraft (the spawn is actually by the iron farm).

    Answering your quick questions:
    • 1.9 snapshots, we reset a week ago. 15w44b, I'll update as I find safe snapshots/prereleases.
    • Yes, but they probably won't work in the snapshots :P Still allowed though. I'd even be ok with some things that could be called cheaty; like a mod that makes everything look like it's maximum light level. Line is drawn at obvious cheaty stuff like x-ray and forcefield. Also don't use minimap mods for teleporting, if you have one of the mods that tries to force the teleport as a new client location rather than attempting a tp command. Minimap mods/waypoints sans cheaty teleports are fine though.
    • PvP is allowed, even allowed to be spontaneous. However, be courteous. There's a word that the forums won't let me use, but the general motto for the server is everything is technically allowed, but don't be a d---. Use common sense, don't do anything that pisses off someone else, make sure to communicate if you or another is upset to avoid misunderstandings.
    • No. Again, we follow the don't be a d--- rule. The only problem we've had with stealing was on the last map, and it turned out the the guys' friend was just using some stuff from the chest and wasn't communicating properly. I'd be extremely surprised if it was an issue, and if it is, as soon as you tell I or another admin what happened, we'll give you whatever was stolen and try to figure out who did it originally. (Again, us spawning in the items for you follows the don't be a d--- rule, please don't lie to us).
    • It's vanilla, so no plugins for sethome. We just reset, but I expect there will be a netherhub system in place. Eventually we might have this amazingness: Or possibly just some teleport stations made with commands you can buy from admins.
    • No dynmap, not even sure if that is possible on snapshots, because I believe it's a plugin. If you want it to find things like slime chunks, we'll help you out with that for the first month, and after that we'll just give you the world seed :P
Thanks, reply to this and PM me your new skype (or steam) and I'll whitelist you!
Cheers to all! And very sorry to the earlier two.

posted a message on How to delete a server world and create a new one with the same name?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but if you want to use the same world name I would just replace the folder contents, rather than trying to overcomplicate it.

It seems like you can just delete the contents of your "bad" world and then copy the contents from the world you want to use.

posted a message on PermissionsEx Help.

Well, I put this into one of my favourite yml tools: The online YAML parser

So according to that, the main problem is that you misspelled "worldedit" under the OP group.

Also, do not use op for anything with plugins. The operator rank is intended for vanilla services only and should be completely unused in any spigot or bukkit server. The parser is also giving an error in the unicode bit, but that's just a little bit of differing syntax for PEx, yours should be correct.

I would change "OP" to "admin" and replace all instances of OP in your file to avoid this, then use the setting which removes all permissions from operator. Also set allow-ops to false and strict mode to on.

Finally, use UUIDS in the users section (this links to a UUID lookup tool) rather than usernames (it's worth noting you also had a weird indent with your third to last line, I assume you want Tirri_ to be a user, but right now Tirri has a colon next to their name).

Try those changes and see how it goes. Cheers!

Hearts lost to Enderdragon: Well, it depends on the difficulty Easy is 3 hearts (6 damage) Normal is 5 (10 Damage) and Hard is 7.5 hears (15 damage).

Creeper also depends on difficulty and how close you are to it. The maximum amount of damage creeper can do (you're right next to it, on hard mode) is 24.5 hearts, or 49 damage.

I assume you saw this in a video or something similar, would you please link to that so I and others can understand what you're asking?

Also, this should be in the commands/redstone section, I'll get a mod to move it there hopefully.

Yeah, so, please link to where you saw this, and then describe what you're looking for in more detail. When you're asking questions there are pretty simple rules:

      • If it fits in the title easily, you can google it
      • If you say "like the title says" and add a little more detail in the description, you don't have the right information in the question or the description
      • If the title is a summary of the question, then the question is difficult, which means you should then:
        • Ensure the title explains what knowledge would be needed to help answer your question
        • Make sure you put as many relevant details as you can into the description

    Hope this helps, Cheers, ~Fugu

Damn man. Put some fountains around that and you got yourself the Louvre. Well, you'd need a gigantic french-style building in a 'U' around it and a ferris wheel, but close enough.

    For reference:

Side View of the Louvre Pyramid

That's the side view, shows the lighting. Here's one from the front:

Louvre Glass Pyramid from the front

They're pretty similar. The lit up version is awesome. Also, glowing pyramids + water + shaders = really cool. I actually experienced this effect in real life when I went to france, the louvre reflected off all the water around it (which I believe was the intention, but still cool).

    Cheers man

posted a message on Border - can't jump

Not exactly sure what you mean by border. Here's a few things I'd suggest (no confirmation that any of them will work, since I dunno what you're asking). To do these, type them into chat.

1: Do "/tp @a ~ 70 ~". If he fell through bedrock, that should get him out of it.

2: Do "/gamemode 3". This will make him able to fly through any and all blocks.

3: Do "/kill @a". This will send him back to the spawnpoint.

4: Do "/worldborder set 100000000". If he changed the worldborder and made it too small, this will enlarge it.

    Hope this helps :)

Basically this. To clarify, Generator_of_Cubes is telling you to type commands into chat. The default for this is hitting the letter "t" on your keyboard while playing, but if that doesn't work you can also hit the "/" key to bring up something very similar. Then type in what Generator of cubes put in quotes.

However, there's a good chance your son will be unable to perform these commands. If it says "You don't not have permission for this command" or something like that do this:

First, figure out of your son is in a singleplayer world or a server. If he's on a server, he's going to have to ask someone with administrator powers for help. Otherwise, he's on singleplayer, which it most likely. In this case, do this:

Hit escape. This should bring up a bunch of grey buttons that say stuff like "disconnect" "achievements" "back to game" "options."

You want the button that says "Open to LAN" Click that.

More buttons will pop up, and there should be one in the middle of the screen that says "allow cheats OFF" Click it so that is says "Allow Cheats: ON" It's a click toggle, so you should only need to click it once.

    Then, hit "Open LAN World"

Once you do this, you should be able to type all the commands generator gave you. I would start with "/gamemode 3", as that is the way he is least likely to die, and it lets him fly around to find his house (This mode is called "spectator mode" and means the player can no longer collide with anything, including blocks. This will let him fly through the ground upwards to get back to the surface". Once he finds his house, type "/gamemode 0" This puts him back into the regular survival mode so he can continue playing normally.

Couple of tips: Be careful about buying minecraft books, 99% of them are not actually made by mojang (the company that made/maintains Minecraft). Just be sure it's a book made by Mojang: "Beginner's Handbook" "Construction Handbook" "Combat Handbook" "Redstone Handbook" and "Blockopedia." Buying used books from amazon is cheaper, but make sure that have those titles/mojang stuff on them.

I also have to say this to every new parent and kid, watch PaulSoaresJr's "How to Survive and Thrive" videos. He is totally family-friendly, fun to watch, and will guide you through the basics of minecraft and onward (great for you son and you, if you have the time):

Finally, https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraft (minecraft subreddit) is great place to ask questions, and you'll get them answered extremely quickly. Also, it's a much older age group in general on reddit, so you'll get better answers too for the most part.

posted a message on new to slots commands
    Quote from piipecek»

what is wrong with my command?

hopefully it helps me understanding them.

    /testfor piipecek {SelectedItemSlot:0,Inventory:[{Slot:0b,id:"minecraft:diamond_horse_armor"}]}

now it tests for the ID only in my 0 slot. i want to test it, if it is in the hand right now - if its active

or with this one - i want only the horse armor, wich has the name

    /testfor piipecek {Inventory:[{Slot:0b,id:"minecraft:diamond_horse_armor{Name:"healovaci amulet"}"}]}

This is more complicated than you think.

Luckily, user m5signorini has figured this out in his thread over here.

You want to replace "piipecek" with @p, probably (so other people could use your machine), or use an RS Nor latch along with . This method isn't instant, but it is more friendly to a large amount of players. For extremely high speed, you want a set of commands for every player.

The idea is, you give an item with a special attribute, then you can detect if the player is holding that item with a special attribute, regardless of what slot it is in. You can also use scoreboard objectives (with stat.useItem and something like a carrot_on_a_stick) to detect if the player right clicks. (So only the special golden sword gives the effect, not a normal one).

You can make this even more selective with general player selectors, like a team, score range, xp level, etc.
