Why you should join : I love playing smp. I like to build big or small, but not none at all.
How long have you played Minecraft? : Since just before fences I think
I didn't forget to read the rules!
The system should sort itself out soon. My current issue is I cant connect to minecraft.net. And when i used the old loader, my server is "outdated". How do I update to 1.3, and how do I update my server. So many questions, no one around to answer, so movie watchin time :tongue.gif:
You update your minecraft_server.jar which you can download from the client download page at minecraft.net
I've never gotten Betterlight to work on an already modded minecraft.jar. I think this is only because I tend to expand my minecraft.jar into a folder and add the .jar extension to my folder which autopatchers like this don't like. So an important thing to do is start with a fresh minecraft.jar (delete your minecraft/bin folder, start the launcher and let it download a fresh copy)
Once you have a fresh minecraft.jar sitting in minecraft/bin Unzip the MrMMods package and get this folder open and your minecraft/bin folder open side by side.
Drag the contents of MrMMods/mods into minecraft/mods
Drag MrMPatcher.jar into minecraft/
Double click MrMPatcher.jar to run it and you should be prompted for what to rename the original as a backup (mine defaults to minecraft.mrmbackup.jar) and what to call the output (call it minecraft.jar if you want to immediately run that game after running this patcher).
Select what patches you want installed (I only tick better light) and click patch. Fire up your game and tell me what happens!
EDIT: At this point your have a fresh minecraft.jar with the better light patch. Feel free to treat it however you normally treat your minecraft.jar when modding, but remember if you need to reinstall betterlight for any reason to patch the minecraft.jar first with the autopatcher, then expand and insert your other mod classes as desired.
For those of you saying this is a game that is not meant to be modded extensively I have two points.
1. It is a sandbox game. The game plops you down in a world and there are no mandated forms of gameplay. It's all about being creative. Creative survival? Sure for some. Creative modifications? Definitely for some.
2. Mods are optional. People should not be disturbed that I installed the diamond generator mod or whatever. YOU do not have to install it. YOU don't even have to talk to me about it. Just leave it alone.
If someone wants to try and introduce half life elements into minecraft, all the best of luck! Maybe they will come up with a great idea that can be shared with the entire community. They wouldn't come up with that idea if they were stopped form even attempting a mod.
It really comes down to this. When you set out to make a mod, you really can't care if it will be "accepted" or not. That kind of doubt won't foster progress.
This mod looks great, however I cannot seem to get it working.
I can install the modloader just fine, and my minecraft will run. However, when I place your classes into the jar things stop working. Once I load up a save and directly after the "simulating things for a bit" it will run a couple frames of the game and freeze right there. I am on a mac, but I followed the modloader instructions fine and got another mod to work just fine. Can I just confirm the steps I should follow with you?
1. Install modloader and ensure it's working properly -
2. Place /zenit/recall into the /mods directory -
3. Place .class files into the minecraft.jar -
4. Run game -
Works like a charm for me except mono screws with the display a bit. If you can't see buttons or gui in a tab, try switching to another tab and back again.
My first major minin operation is consistently 3 blocks above bedrock. I have crap tons of diamond. So much so that I find more diamond to make tools with than I need. So I've been sticking with that.
