posted a message on Will Minecraft ever get old?
Take it from someone who has been playing on smp servers since way back when, the game gets old. It's more a matter of the community decaying from all the cool and creative people you once knew to a bunch of kids and the few people still using minecraft as a medium to display their artistic or coding talents than it is a matter of the game itself getting old. Sure the game can get boring in single player, but when you play online you get a whole new dynamic, building and creating for others instead of yourself. You just can't get that in public servers anymore because everyone is either a complete idiot who is a pain to be around, the kind of person who builds and builds and builds without contact with anyone else, or the kind of person who goes to private servers with people like them. Personally, i'd say the game is tired and has been for a few years now, potential has been wasted and mojang just isn't as original as they used to be. I feel sad to say it, but I really would say the game is basically on the verge dying at this point.

posted a message on 1.7, 1.8, 1.9... But then what?
Minecraft needs a new engine. The old engine strains the computer too much because it renders all the blocks you can't see. The chunk system is bad, the "render it all" system is bad, and the sheer amount of clutter they're adding is awful. They really need to optimize, redo the terrain gen, redo the AI, and start adding original content to the game again.

Stop being a puss, get a job, buy your own internet, get an apartment, move out at 17, live out the rest of your days and tell your kids about how your parents were totally gay.

    Quote from MinisterofOrigin

The problem is that most of the features that are complained about are disliked by a small yet loud minority of people. So if Mojang listened to all the complainers they would be catering to those small minorities and telling the majority of their fanbase to deal with it.
An other problem with the minecraft community as of late is that a majority of the community is a bunch of <15 year olds who came around just as the game was done getting popular. Minecraft basically went from having a community of people who were mature enough to actually assist with the game's creation process by suggesting things that aren't terrible to having a community whose majority are kids who giggle and crap their pants when they see updates, all the while yelling "HUR HUR YAH SUNDFLOWERS AND CARPETS, H8RS GTFO." It's really sad, but it's true. Any of the non-kids left have private servers or run servers that are overly serious, killing off the idea that any of the new guys could learn how to not be detrimental in every possible way.

    Quote from DurzaMC

Just like Badprenup said, Minecraft is not about realism, but this fits the game logic. And anyways, if it was two blocks tall is wouldn't look dang adorable.
Everything fits in game logic now, ever since the adventure update game logic means nothing to anyone.

posted a message on A slight nerf to egg laying (nothing too important, but it would still be good)
No, nobody is sitting around thinking "man, i really wish chickens laid less eggs." It would be like suggesting that grass grow based on nutrient values of soil, completely irrelevant to the actual game.

make them shoot slower or remove their knockback. Simple fix, they just need to stop pushing you away with arrows.

posted a message on Tiles, the carpets of stained clay. *90% of people support!*
Tell me, what is so hard about making floors out of blocks? has everyone suddenly lost the ability to build the floor out of the material they want? this would just add a lot more crap to clutter the game, all while being completely pointless and cumbersome to use.

posted a message on Since when is minecraft a constant onslaught of zombies?
Guys, "hard" and "stupid" are totally different. You see, fighting a creature who tries to outflank you and sneaks up on you is hard, killing a creature who just spawns more of itself whenever you hit it for no reason is annoying. It's the same with with skeletons, they made them more annoying rather than hard, since you just keep getting knocked back whilst taking minimal damage. In response to making the game harder it seems like they only improved creeper AI, and made everything else a frustrating cavalcade of idiot enemies.

posted a message on Horse breeding currently pointless and in a bad state
Horse stats are stupid and pointless regardless. Horses are too god damn complicates for this game, so complicated mojang crapped itself half way through, scooped up that crap, and implemented it as the breeding mechanic.

posted a message on New and improved server (like the new minecraft launcher!)
if a server has any meaningful analytics, it's not being run on a home computer. If it's not being run on a home computer, it's being run on a server. If it's being run on a server, you aren't going to go to the server just to check analytics. If you go to the server to check analytics, you really care about analytics. If you really care about analytics, you already have a system in place to check analytics without going to the server. This whole logic chain applies for every other idea. If the server is big enough to need any of this stuff, it already has systems in place to do those tasks, and so adding them to the dinky launcher would just end up in a bunch of bloatware tagging along with the simple server launcher people really want.

posted a message on ''UPDATED WITH NEW PICTURES'' AN IDEA OF IMPROVED BATTLE COMBAT
You can't fix minecraft's combat by slathering the crap cake in tasty icing. Minecraft's combat is fundamentally horrid, mainly because of stunlocks. With your system the dagger would destroy every other weapon because you still incorporate the stunlock mechanic that already exists in the game. if you've ever seen pvp in an arena you see the whole tactic is just spam clicking and jumping, something that would benefit the guy with the fastest weapon. You can't have an over complicated weapon system because you need to keep combat within the aesthetic of the game, meaning less "this wepon is slowr but it is STRONGAR" and more behind the scenes mechanics that can't be abused or broken. The three attack system would be ignored as it would benefit the player more to always go for attack no. 3, since no.3 has a 100% critical chance while the others only have the benefit of being easier to do. As far as animations go, they would all look derpy and terrible. you can't have good animations using the minecraft aesthetic unless you have a very large animal, just look at horse and their ed up necks. This is a good sentiment, but it ignores the real problem, which is the fact that blocking is almost completely useless in conventional combat and spamming attack actually works.
