posted a message on ROWAM (Rails of War Automation Module) [OBSOLETE]

    NOTICE:

Due to significant changes in RoW this mod is no longer compatible nor preferred. Please download the latest version of RoW to get such features built-in with better compatibility. I'm still leaving the project site up just in case someone wants to try to cobble together an old build, but I don't recommend it.

Would a moderator be able to lock this thread down? I don't want people trying to download a mod that's dead, and if someone revives this mod I think it's better they start a new thread.

See the OP for details on that.

hey so I've been trying out this mod and i love its concept but i can not get any plane off the ground. my flaps are at 10 degrees i'm at full throttle. am i doing something wrong?

Do you have a large diameter propeller on a small engine? That's not going to work. Small engines need a diameter of 80 or less.

How do you open the plane GUI to add fuel and stuff in 1.7.10 version 8.0.0 ALPHA

There is no GUI in the Alpha. You add parts by right-clicking the plane, but if you want to fuel it you're out of luck. There is no fuel system in the Alpha.

I there any way that you can show how you got the planes to actually appear when you place them? I am working on a mod with a Land Speeder and when it is placed it doesn't appear, my entity class is being called, but nothing is spawned in. I have been searching tutorials, but they are only working with mobs. If you know of any please let me know!

This might be a better question to put on the mod help page rather than mine.... There's quite a few regulars who can explain the process better than me.

Uhm. Maybe a stupid question, but how do you get rid of crashed planes, or drowned planes? I cannot "Kill" it or explode it. How?

Sneak-Attack. Make sure you attack a bounding box.

Possible question: You ever think of adding more support for the minelittlepony mod with this? Understandable if ya don't.

No, but not because I have anything against ponies. :) It's just I have discontinued support for this mod. That being said, there's nothing stopping you from grabbing the source code and adding support yourself.

No particular reason, TBH. I've always used that name as it's what I've known from tutorials. If you want to put out a change you are welcome to do so. I don't have the code on my PC anymore, so you'll have to grab it off the source repository linked in the Curse Page.

This is a new system. The RoW system was too inflexible and restrictive for me to do what I wanted with it. It was also coded in a such a way as to prevent some features that I felt were lacking. I actually have the track rendering and placement 100% done. It's just the entity physics and track following that are lacking now.

NOTICE: ALL DEVELOPMENT IS ON HOLD, AND UPDATES ARE ON HIATUS, UNTIL A SECOND (OR THIRD) CODER JOINS THE MFS TEAM. I HAVE LIMITED TIME AND WILL NOT SPEND IT ON MFS UNLESS OTHER PEOPLE WISH TO DO SO AS WELL. I ALSO CANNOT INDEFINITELY MAINTAIN UPDATES, AND WANT A FUTURE FOR MFS.

That being said, I have been hard at work coding many things for MTS. Yes, I said MTS. As in Minecraft Transport Simulator. Over 80% of the code has been re-worked, and MTS is close to being release-able, but due to new time constraints and burnout I am unable to finish what I have started. What did I start? Check the screenies.

If you are interested in seeing this mod continue, or contributing to it, please message me on Discord, as I do not check this forum often. However, please do not come to me unless you want to help. Offers are all well and good, but I'm tired of people saying that they want to help but then doing nothing. That's worse than just not offering....

As I mentioned, I did in fact try using the config file from the old version with the joystick already set up. It was ineffective.

While we're on the topic of bugs that are already known, do I need to take a video of my plane literally flying through the ground into a cave, sliding up and down trees, and hanging tail-up from vines, or is this something being worked on as well?

Which old version did you use? I had another user come to me for help trying to use V5. Turns out the V5 config jump isn't workable and we needed to use V6. Your case may differ, however.

A teleportation video would be helpful. Not sure what you mean by the vines, though. I haven't heard anything about those messing up planes... There's a few odd bugs that only specific people seem to be getting, like the one where the wheels of the plane get stuck in the ground. Not sure if your bug is in the same vein or not.

By the way, welcome back! I'm guessing real-life was crazy these past few months?

I am just going to say this once more, and once more only.

IF YOU ARE CRASHING WHEN SELECTING A JOYSTICK IN 7.1.2 PLEASE READ!!!

Here is what's happening when you select a joystick: When you click a joystick button MFS attempts to get the previously selected joystick and compare it with the joystick you just clicked. It does this to know if it needs to wipe the joystick controls because you selected a different joystick, or if it should keep the same controls because the joystick you selected was the same. The crash occurs when you have never selected a joystick previously. This causes MFS to try to compare a joystick to nothing, which it doesn't handle well.

So, in order to use a joystick in V7 you need to have previously selected a joystick. How might you do this? Simply grab a V6 version and select a joystick there. Then go back to V7 and configure your joystick there. I repeat: configure a joystick button in V6, then go to V7. I will NOT help anyone with this problem unless they specifically mention they read post 876! I don't want to be a stick-in-the-mud, but I'm tired of answering the same question again and again.

That being said, this issue, and the fuel issue, will be fixed in V8 when it comes out. When will that be? No clue. Don't ask.

I can use it in elite: dangerous, DCS world, FSX, and IL2: 1946 the joystick is quite old tough, and it appears as generic usb controllers, so maybe its an issue related to that.

If the computer recognizes the joystick buttons in other games, it should be smart enough to do so in Java. If you click the other options for joysticks (like the mouse or whatever junk it throws out) what buttons are shown on them?

Sorry for late reply, didn't get notified. coming right up.
    mod version: 7.1.2
    Got it off curse.
Weirdly enough, I used the barrels from extra utilities and.. And it ****ing worked. What. Bringing up the config...
    Got it.

    TL;DR of link:

I attempted to add Bio-diesel, from Immersive engineering.

    Line:

    D:biodiesel=1000

AH! You've hit a nice little edge case right there! Here's whats happening:
In old versions of MFS, the fuel system was set up to have it so the config values represented the fuel value of a bucket. So when you set lava to 1000, you'd get 1000 fuel units from a bucket, which would be equivalent to the 1000mB of liquid those contain.

The problem with that setup is that it didn't work if the holder of liquids was not a bucket. To fix that I changed the fuel system to look at the liquid inside the container, not the container itself. For that setup the fuel config values were changed to 1, and the value reflects how much fuel 1mB of that liquid gives. So a bucket of lava has 1000mB, which with a lava fuel value of 1 translates to 1000 fuel units.

HOWEVER. Buckets can only either be full or empty. Because of this the plane won't accept the fuel if the majority (90%) won't fit. When you set biodiesel to a fuel value of 1000, and try to put in a bucket with 1000mB, you try to put in 1000000mB, or 1000 buckets of plane-fuel. The plane clearly can't take all that so it refuses to touch the bucket.

The wooden barrel, however, CAN be partially filled. Because of this, the plane only deducts the required amount of fuel from the barrel and then shoves it into the slot below. So if biodiesel has a fuel value of 1000, then it only needs to deduct 5mB to fill a MC-172.

So in a nutshell: The issue in both of these cases stems from using an old config setup. Delete the fuel section and try again.

double killer: u hav Optifine AND Shaders

Well, more like single killer. Optifine doesn't do anything, but shaders will mess you up good. That's why you read the OP!

I cant use my joystick. when i go into the configuration window and i click joystick, it does appear, with the type "stick". but when i click on it, the list to configure the buttons and axis and what not is completely blank. i cant set it up, its like the game does not recognize it has buttons and axis.

That sounds like some sort of driver issue. Can you use that joystick on other games on your PC?

How do I zoom in and zoom out?

I know the key is page up and page down, but I am using a mac and there is no page up and page down key.

I tried to set the zoom in and out key to something else but it did not work.

I also tried to use fn+arrow key, and it also did not work.

I am using mc 1.10.2, forge 1.10.2-12.18.3.2185, mod version 1.10.2-7.1.2

Due to Mojang code changes, zoom is impossible to do in 1.10. Sorry, but that's what happens when the people making the code changes aren't the ones making mods.
