posted a message on Minecraft News - 1.7.10 Pre-Release, New Minecraft Forum & More!
    Quote from Rakanoth

Nowhere, because Mojang doesn't want to shut down servers.

Unless you're referring to the whole EULA ordeal, in which case you're part of the problem by spreading misinformation and manipulating the uninformed audience to suit your own agenda, by having them side against it for the wrong reasons.
Mojang's intention isn't to kill servers, they want to turn them back into community-oriented things instead of a competition about who has more money to throw away.

    #edit#
He said it kinda broadly, I'll admit that,
but the fact is that it's just a huge to the community,
my sincere apologies for the language.

He's not misinforming/manipulating the uninformed audience.. He's putting it together in a friggin comment.

Just saying that this is going to kill quiet some servers, even smaller community based ones.
The big servers who were/are farming money however can keep hosting for a loonngg time now anyways,
so yeh, they're trying to wipe out the community since most people indeed donate for perks,
and if this perks include kits to fireworks or more warps and a nice prefix, then I don't see why this is such a problem.

    Same here - how ANNOYING.

Yeah right, still remember the good days of early-mid beta minecraft in which minecraft forums used to do that.
Kind of a holy grail for those channels and also a waste of time, reading is -way- faster.

posted a message on Minecraft is too easy..
Mehh, all sounds wish and well here.. In the comments..

But the main thing that's so faulty about minecraft's difficulty is the crappy combat system and the mob AI being crap
(for instance howzombies and skeletons don't burn on lower half slabs when there's daylight shining on them, or when you try hitting mobs while they're taking damage from another source you can't hit them).

Just thinking mob AI's and combat aspects could be up ALLOT in minecraft,
since they're probably gonna kill all custom servers anyhow by forcing their no item selling laws onto servers.
They should at least make the game fun for veteran players on Realms if they scare everyone off custom servers.

And if you don't like a higher friggin difficulty,
then start out on easy or peaceful difficulty or play with someone who has played minecraft for a longer while.

    ~ Cheers'

posted a message on Does any1 need/want staff for their server
At least this is better than people joining a server and emmidiatelly whining about 'needing' staff to help other players.
    .. Kinda like this...

    If you want staff badly,
just become an active and helpful player on a server,
that's the only way I grant people a staff rank anyhow.
    By showing what you offer.

posted a message on Are Minecraft builds owned by the people who make them or are they owned by Mojang?
    Quote from Galactic_Muffin

THIS^ so much, of this! ^

That is my point with this hole thread; I am an artist, I spend months developing a single build and all my builds are uniquely my own work. what is a crime is when people come onto my server that i have handcrafted myself for over 2 years and steal my builds with world downloader and use them for their own servers or even monetary gain and claiming that they built them. I am reading some comments in this thread of those of you who feel copyrights are bad and that it is just an excuse for people to get easy money out of others through lawsuits, that's completely outrageous and it's people who believe that who are hurting hard working artists like me. Sure, there are big corporations and people who abuse it but they are the minority, us honest, hard working individuals need copyright laws to even stand a chance against large crooked corporations and other corrupt individuals.

I have no interest in suing people, and I have no interests in "easy cash", All I want is self defense from the art thieves and crooks out there. So I use copyrights as an art-theft deterrent to AVOID lawsuits, not create them!

The reason why I've been asking you guys what your thoughts are on build ownership is because I put a legal disclaimer on my server that all players have to agree to before being able to enter. And I get yelled at for that because all these players who want to copy my builds tell me I cannot copyright my own builds and they claim that my builds are owned by Mojang and not me. I needed to find out for sure.

Lol, actually, you are allowed to do that if they want to connect to the server.
The server is still yours, if they want to connect to your server (and thus basically your network) which is actually different from minecraft itself, you can ask them for agreement, just like most websites actually HAVE to with cookies.

Anyhow, you should have those rights in this case.

    Quote from Mad_Murdock2010

To be perfectly honest you can't really copyright a build It is possible for two people who have never met to build the same thing completely by chance, it's not probable but is possible.
so trying to prove your the original creator is well, impossible if your truthful about it, how can you prove your work is original without showing every other build ever made anywhere in the world, to prove you didn't in fact copy someone Else's work to begin with.

It reminds me of the chicken and the egg conundrum. how do you prove which came first!.

    Dinosaur eggs..
    Dinosaurs laid eggs..
    There, answer given ;) .

posted a message on Looking for small-medium survival server
    Quote from ShawnPhillips

My server fit most of your requirements, no mob farms but it would be far to easy to farm money with the Hunter job. I am looking to expand the playerbase on the server. right now we rarely have more then 5 people online, too many new players join for 5 minutes then leave or immediately ask about staff positions then leave when I say there are none available.

    IP: 75.102.40.253:25665

Wow.. In your case it must be really bad,
it stopped here since about Wednesday last week.
    Anyhow,

-Medium amount of people at time like 2-5 people on at a time.
    * Our playerbase is shivering a bit, yet sometimes it sticks around 10 players being online simultaniously,
however mostly they're also spread around and about the skyblock and creative sides of the server.
-Mob farms and food farms such as iron golem farms so help me get on my feet when I start.
    * I'm not all too sure what you mean by this, but we sure have social players that are willing to help you get on your feet ;).
-Server preserves villages and temples. (Im really OCD about this)
    * Our current spawn is kinda messy and that is partially because of this, I'm probably adding a rule about that when the new spawn gets released (it's already built, only have to set up shops etc.).
-Nice/funny people to build, explore with :)
    * Most active players on our server are nice with a flowing sense of humor, and as previously stated also helpful to new players :P
-people mainly around the age of 18. (I don't mind age too much)
    * Our server has an all-round player-base, although we mostly see players around from the age of 12-18, in some cases over that.
    -A somewhat already established server.
    * Our server has been around for quiet a while actually, around over a year and has a lot set up.
Shops in survival though aren't completelly set up though.
-Well maintained, admins know how to handle griefers and immature players.
    * Our staff only exists out of dedicated and mature players, so you know you can trust them and let them help you in whatever the case might be.

If you're interessed in checking out what else the server has,
just click the banner in my signature, if you want to join immediately then you can join with this ip: Tsc.epicgamer.org
The server is currently in 1.7.5 (also joinable with versions from 1.7.5 down to 1.7.2)
Hope to see you see soon. (maybe ;))

Anyhow, if you would like to share something with skype, just add me: dinosammy1
you'll find me in a blink.

    Oh generous.

    Rude,

    Quote from mcking901

We have a offer that if you make us a free server the they can get a chance to be a mod. I think I wrote 24/7 that's why nobody is ready, it should not be 24/7.

I could do that, but I won't since I need my computer for other things right now..

posted a message on Are Minecraft builds owned by the people who make them or are they owned by Mojang?
Your answer should be in the terms and agreements when you download minecraft..
I thought to recall that they don't claim ownership of user made content,
which basically also means that your builds (which are basically your content) are just yours.

posted a message on What is up with the playerbase on servers these days?
    Quote from Mythril

That should be fine, since many of the new people are a-holes. Whitelisted servers are a good median, as they do allow new players, but only after approving of them.

    Yup,
main problem is that public servers now get less players who actually stay online for the fun of talking to new players,
which basically means that the ratio of dedicated players : begger players is being hugelly unbalanced..
And thus makes the game less fun for the dedicated players.

    Quote from asonfated

Yeah, I basically grew up in minecraft on a faction server so when I tried to open that server i first played on again.

    IT NEVER WORKED.

basically the server is going to be towny only now. screw asking for mod. there should be a plugin that kicks that player for saying a certain message. like 'can i be mod?'

    There are plugins for that,
but people will always try to bypass it because they aren't bright enough to understand that the kick was for that specific reason
_OR_ they don't even read the kick message, and then try to do the same again, but then try to bypass it,
also, people who actually ask for help at staff, for instance if they say 'can an admin/moderator please help me.'
it could trigger the kick and thus prove inneficient.

    Quote from ShawnPhillips

Look up the NoobResponce plugin. You can set it up to say a message or preform a command when someone types certin wordsor message.

Same thing, the people who dare asking for such things basically never read anything,
same with reading the rules, doesn't matter if they spawn with a board full of rules in their face,
they're just to be ignored by ignorant and lazy players..

Yesterday I went on another server and asked one of the admins about the problem,
he told me that about 40% of the new players he's seen asked for staff position immediatelly,
some moments later the owner came on and we discussed the matter..

Basically this is kinda the same like the PMC scam, but instead it's not a scam. But hugelly annoying instead.
So we thought of some ways to reverse the population of beggars/askers..
Basically we discussed how the media allows things like this to happen.. So why not use it to reverse it as well?
Now, some of you might not agree on this, but making a union of servers that just trolls people who do this under the cheer of youtube.

Basically allows this flaw to be see in a fun perspective and if it gets under the right publics it might even stop those who try doing this.
Anyhow, that's 1 idea, but yeh, you can see where this madness drove me to. xD
