the sides of the workbench have good shading details, however the top doesn't really have any shading at all. I don't know if this is intentional or not but i don't think it works very nicely
I support, but the shotgun doesn't really fit minecraft :/.
You should switch it with a more historic gun, like the blunderbuss.
who are you to tell someone what belongs and what doesn't belong in this game? =\
if the OP wants a shotgun in the game and that is his vision, then let it be. there is no set theme or way that minecraft has to be
2. I always make markers when exploring that consist of 3 cobblestones stacked on top of each other with torches on all 4 sides and the top of the highest cobblestone
3. I make gravel paths to all of my major buildings/mines. It isn't a solid path. Instead, I move like a Knight in chess and place a piece of gravel in the ground after very move until I reach the destination. Every fourth gravel block is partnered with a single cobblestone block with a torch on it
4. I make walled fortresses with an "airlock" gate. This gate consists of a room that has two iron doors, one going to the outside and the other to the inside. They are both connected to the same lever with redstone and when one opens, the other closes. IE) Walk into the room, hit the lever and the door I enter closes. Then, the other door leading into the fort opens

Seriously though, looking forward to the end product! And the name fits perfectly as a counterpart to the Nether

I couldn't be bothered to go into the game itself and grab screenshots, but I think this is more helpful anyways if you want to get every pixel right
For actual in-game screenshots just google image search "minecraft ghast"
