All fixed! Apologies for any inconvenience caused :).
Sep 13, 2014Are the emails absolutely identical or notifications of forum activity?Posted in: Forum Discussion & Info
The best you can do is to set email notifications to once per week In your Notification Settings. Make sure that daily digest is checked while all the days of the week are unchecked and you should stop receiving daily notifications via email.
The pinned thread How to disable email notifications, or configure daily digests explains more.
Sep 9, 2014As you advertised a YouTube channel within the Minecraft Discussion section, your thread was removed by staff. We encourage members to share their Minecraft related videos (and not channels) within the Show Your Creation / Videos section.Posted in: Forum Discussion & Info
Generally speaking, linking to YouTube channels alone is considered advertising because it is promotion of a channel, personality or collection of videos whereas linking to a video promotes content directly - which we'd prefer!
You are free to link to your YouTube channel within your signature.

Sorry about that - our spam filter caught your posts. I have restored your latest post and removed the previous 2.

Yours isn't marked as spam, but you do have a broken image link. You're linking to: http://www.minecraftforum.net/MyBannerMaker_Banner.jpg and we don't host signatures here.
You'll need to grab the correct URL from whichever signature/banner site you're using and fix the URL via your profile options.

I have no idea why, and there's no notification or anything to tell me what happened?
The spam filter caught your post, but it has now been restored. Sorry about that!

When the post disappeared the first time I figured I messed something up, so tried again, hoping it wouldn't double post. When it wasn't up when I checked a bit ago I tried one more time, really hoping it wouldn't spam the thread. Well, it still didn't post, so I did a search and found this. Apparently I ticked off the spam filter on my very first post ever, is that a record?
All joking aside would it be possible to have the original post on that thread (#160) restored and the following two deleted? If so I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
Sorry about that; as you've gathered, our spam filter is a tad over-sensitive at times. Your original post has been restored and the follow 2 deleted.

Sorry about that; our spam filter has been particularly aggressive recently. I have restored your original posts and removed the duplicates.

I feel like the texture pack change was a poor attempt to make it simpler. While this might be a simple solution for the texture artist for Minecraft default, who only needs to add or change a few block textures in a snapshot, a texture pack artist from the community has to sort through the various files now. This may however open up some possibilities for modders. What really concerns me is the risk of this creating more unnecessary lag. I admit I am not a programer, but from my perspective, it seems less efficient to load multiple files at once constantly than to pick from one large one. If anyone knows about this please let me know.
It's not going to be a huge deal for existing texture pack authors as Dinnerbone has released a tool which converts existing packs into the new format.
Ultimately, this new system will really help authors with native HD compatibility, creative control options and ensure texture packs are forwards compatible - no more having to use default until a pack has updated.
Regarding the efficiency of loading multiple files over a single file, only time will tell us if this dramatically impacts upon game performance.
I think the pros heavily outweight the cons at this stage.

We have a really great community here, with many interesting characters, unique creations and intelligent minds. That said, I advise not to ruin it by acting on any of the following:
- Send, threaten or incite hate mail.
- Send, threaten or incite death threats.
- Execute, threaten or incite DoS attacks.
- Edit, threaten or incite malicious Wikipedia tweaks.
- Generally react impulsively and irresponsibly to what will ultimately be dealt with legally, in a court of law.
Not only is this highly against the ethos of the Minecraft community, but in many cases this is both illegal and against our forum rules.
Those found making, encouraging or admitting such actions may be warned and/or suspended accordingly.

I sort of think this will be bad, because if its only like a 5 minute playthrough hes just going to punch some trees and mayby build a small house. That would make minecraft look boring as hell.
I think as long as they clearly mention/show that the whole world is virtually infinite and editable, this will bring more attention to Minecraft.
It may look boring to hardcore Minecrafters, but a completely editable world is still quite a novel concept to the vast proportion of casual gamers :).

Having watched the interview, there was a hell of a lot of underlying tension. The yogscast were ribbing Notch at every turn, in some cases with very little respect while Notch seemed to react with zany humour which seemed quite defensive/offensive at times.
