posted a message on Is this the official forum?
    Quote from webrosc»
Technically this forum is the official unofficial forum, it was created by fans of the game (Citricsquid being one) and later Curse took it over.

Due to its popularity Mojang accepted it as the main forum to goto and listed it on their page, but Mojang have never had a control of the forum

Disclaimer - I think thats right, but i'm sure someone will correct me if i am wrong, and add more detail

This is correct. Mojang consider minecraftforum.net the "official" forum however that is pretty much the extent of MCF's affiliation with Mojang. The Minecraft Forums are owned and run by a separate autonomous company, Curse.
why does notch seem to pay more attention to people on reddit than people on this forum?

That is up to Notch to answer, but I assume he frequents various subreddits as Reddit is a multi purpose site covering a wide array of topics. MCF is almost purely focused on Minecraft and Notch's involvement in the development of the game ended some time ago now.

Nope, its not animated for me.

Your smiley is animated, but you haven't specified the image to loop indefinitely. It will only loop once upon initial load of the page. You'll need to fix this for your smiley to be eligible for entry.

Wait why did sword lose? It should have been a tie

Although :sword: by thebaum64 is listed as joint second in our winners image, it was sitting in third place (with 37 votes) when the poll thread was closed. I would close the poll to ensure no more votes are taken, but unfortunately this forces all the smiley images to disappear and I'd prefer them up for our archive.

Either way though, :sword: by thebaum64 didn't lose; as it has now been implemented into the forum, it's a winner! :).
