1.0.0 is just a number. There is no giant leap over 1.8.1, and the game is still filled with bugs.
The new features are fun, but they are all very shallow. The enchanting system is about as basic as it can be, as is the breeding system. The potion system is solid... although there is nothing amazing about it. Being able to repair items is nice, but again... very shallow.
All in all its just another step forward for a game that will probably never be in a "finished" state.
Yeah the features need more depth, but for me, these features didn't even give me much fun at all. I think the reason is that these features actually do not fit into a sandbox game very well. So far I enjoyed most are minecarts, redstone and pistons. I'll be much happier if Notch made this game more like a simulation game (eg. the Sims) instead of another first-person adventure game.
I noticed that fps drops significantly when smooth lighting is any value besides OFF. So I think that why modloader helps performance is because of that lighting stuff. sp614x will probably release the godly better lighting version so I'll stick with the blocky lighting.
I've heard someone pointed out that, in fact this game is still under beta testing. The developers will probably and should work on performance issues AFTER all the fun updates are finished.
First of all, the creator of this, and indeed any, mod HAS to wait before the Minecraft Coder Pack (MCP) has been released, which means that, however many times you post asking for an update JUST after a new version is out, the creator will NOT update for some time. And before you start whining on the MCP thread, let me try to explain a little about the Coder Pack: What those people have to do to update MCP is to deobfuscate the entire code of the Minecraft.jar. That means they have to open EVERY class file in there, find EVERY new variable in there, and Find out where those new variables are applied in-game. Then they have to add those variables to the MCP, which is able to translate a Minecraft.jar to something which can be used to make mods and retranslate that to the normal 'cryptic' programming language.
Because they have to go through the whole .jar and open every .class file in there, a larger update will take more time than a smaller update. Because the Adventure Update is a huge update, this process will probably take more than a week, depending on the amount of time the MCP team is willing to devote to this project.
No amount of whining is going to change this. If you're not willing to play Minecraft with mods, whether you're playing on a crappy laptop or you're just mod-spoiled, STICK WITH 1.7!
Hahaha... I think this mod will eventually have as many whining fans as the game itself. :cool.gif:
If you define 'cheating' as not playing the game in the way it is supposed to be played:
Anything that alters gameplay such as x-ray textures, bug exploiting, even minimap mods are cheating.
Personally, I don't care what you do to the game as long as you play in SSP, as it has nothing to do with fairness.
Day time:
-Punch down a whole tree
-Make crafting bench and wooden pickaxe
-Find some exposed stone and mine around 10 cobblestones
-Make stone sword, shovel, axe, pickaxe
-Wander around and do the following 3 things at the same time until sun set:
-Kill sheep, pigs and cows
-Chop more trees
-Look for coals
Night time:
-If found any large natural caves, I will spend the night exploring it.
-Otherwise, just dig a small room in a small cave/cliff, make a bed and skip the night.
i liked v2 but since v3 i didn't download anymore why?
rain ****s everything up now redstone torches . it really suck's in my eye's
but v4 got some very cool features good job!
(no i'm still not going to download the mod.)
Actually if rain creates water and you don't like it, you can turn off this feature by editing the property file with Notepad.
The file is inside the folder %APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods\DJoslin\.

This for sure! The community had asked for mod support for ages. I'm sure over 2/3 of minecrafters play modded minecraft instead of the vanilla one.

EDIT: Late post :/
However seems 1.9 will be out very soon. Hopes it will be less tedious to update the mod from 1.8 to 1.9.

So guys please hold the horses first...

Maybe it's just me, but I think those spammers are actually good because they can bump this thread to be read by more people :tongue.gif:

Very true! I was using java 6 before and the fps can rarely goes above 30. Now after I updated to java 7 it easily rockets to over 100.

This is so funny that the "Adventure" update generate tons of lag whenever you go adventuring....

But I just know that it will make too much annoying noise :huh.gif:
