I have just read the last few pages of comments and feel I could paraphrase it like this --
    1. Make a game called "Minecraft is too easy" and make it hard
    2. Hear endless suggestions on how it is too hard, and how to make it easier.
Guys, seriously, suck it up. If you can't do this then go back to vanilla and practice until you can. If you stray from the optimal path in MITE even a little this game will hand you your ass back on a plate and that is the way it is intended. I have been playing MITE and I swear that my heart has started racing in some circumstances. It puts you on edge, risk taking is carefully measured, and success is hard won. It can take days to achieve things - planning is essential and every second counts. In my opinion, this is all how it should be!

yea it's super hard to get lucky spawn lucky drops and then hole up for hours waiting.

I have a perfect way to fix the food problem add cannibalism :)Derp and this is why you read things all the way through before posting

Also if this is to be realistic wouldn't it make sense for you you be able to slowly plow dirt with your hands?

Yea, it'd be nice if sand and dirt were easier to break with hands. That's not something we should have to 'work' much for. It takes way too long and makes you hungry too fast.

Honestly it'd be nice if gravel drops could also drop from dirt and sand at a very low rate- that way if you get a low gravel spawn you're not walking miles to progress through the game.

    2. I think you could add some kind of limits to the water; as in being able to swim across a whole sea of water. Is there a way you can make it so swimming takes in more hunger? This would make it more logical solution in preventing players to swim across a whole ocean without suffering any consequence.

It already takes a ton of hunger. I noticed that being in a boat doesn't seem to deplete hunger much (which is fine) but you can't see the hunger bar when in a boat... which can cause issues.

I tried again and got to clay oven/bed/chest/workbench but now the 1-day radius is out of surface gravel and low on food. Also at level -9, but that's coo.

I think this would be much more fun on multiplayer although then there'd need to be a solution for food scarcity, as well as an easy way to pick up items so the nomad life is more feasible. Maybe instead of chests, leather bags we can set down and pick up easily.

Is there any way you could make it so players drop "long pork" when killed in pvp? That way on a server you could have cannibalism. and maybe it gives you the hunger... so that human flesh heals more hearts for you but regular food is less effective than before.

Well if you're not going to make it easier can you at least make night shorter? It's not hard it's just long and boring.

Make an easier difficulty level and call it "sissy difficulty", then make it say "SISSY!!!" in big red letters at the top of the screen.

That way, you can have a harder minecraft without going full MITE (since for a lot of people, MITE is too much and Vanilla is not enough).

    EDIT:
I assume that you want everyone playing the same thing so that everyone can be... gauged and ranked so to speak - if someone posts a screen at a certain stage of advancement, it's clear just how much work and w/e went into it.

You don't actually have to call it "Sissy difficulty", that's just an example of how to make a different difficulty that is distinct enough from the current standard that you will still be able to compare most of the MITE players in this way.

Yea I don't really get why everyone should be on nightmare, there's no leaderboard or whatever. I just got through a night and almost immediately a wood spider killed me. I had cleared plenty of leaves and gravel without any items to help me, so that's not really fun. Think I'm done with this one for now.

I don't have plans for adding multiple difficulty levels or config files at this time. For some reason I like the idea of everyone playing this mod at the same difficulty level.

I understand. It would be nice if difficulty levels in the game changed things though. No idea what you could do to peaceful(gag) but that way medium would be 'significantly harder than hard vanilla' and hard would be 'darksouls mode' :)

I'll give it another go but at this point I just don't see the appeal of relying on lucky sticks to get through the early game. That part's not hard, it's frustrating.

To me the idea of hunger being more important and harder to conquer is awesome, the leveling system is really cool, and a lot of other additions sound great. But hiding in a hole punching zombies for 5 minutes before a spider climbs in and kills you isn't much fun, and surviving that doesn't take skill. Push it towards skill instead of luck and this mod would be much more appealing, I think.

Still a great mod, just has a few issues.

heh, it'd be great if there were some rare bushes with berries. Maybe some could be poison and we'd have to figure out which (randomly assigned to a certain colour for each world so you always have to guess?)

Mod seems fun, are there options? Might like to adjust it to be a little easier... it's nice to have a challenge and new content and a reason to level but it's frustrating to never find a stick.

I wish animals could reproduce sometimes, that way you could hunt but leave a sustainable population.

posted a message on Minecraft - The Mod Update!
I think there are a lot of mods with a lot to offer, it seems like they are drawing from mods more lately so hopefully they'll grab some of the good stuff as they go.

I would like to see Rope+, metallurgy, more biomes from various mods, and some ocean content from things like algaecraft or ocean adventure. Some of the advanced dungeons in chocolatequest would be great too.

I think forestry has a lot of great content that would be fun too, but it's not all that 'vanilla.'

Balkon's weaponmod has a ton of stuff that'd fit well and wouldn't be op. And I think some items like the quiver, backpack, etc from some of the mods I mentioned would be good too. Really just little things like that. And when I say 'this mod' I mean 'some of this mod' like I wouldnt want all of metallurgy, just some things like the alloys and new precious metals... there are too many to add to vanilla, it'd have to be limited. Expandable chests and upgradable furnaces are things that would be nice in vanilla though.

some of these in OP aren't really what I'd call vanilla. TMI is already there in creative mode, essentially, though something like craftguide might be appropriate.

Can we turn certain parts of the mod off, or is it all or nothing?

How do you get the sponge without creative mode?

I'm using 3.0.0.0.8.1 on my server and it's definitely stable, just lacking a few recipes. Hoping I can upgrade soon since the new version has fixed all that. :)

But, there are never any crashes or problems like that for us.

I agree with these sentiments completely. A new thread would bring more people in. There he could explain everything as it is. Start from scratch. Make this his (as it should be).

The only thing that I can ask for is for M3 to come sooner. Of course, I'm being impatient. However, I really do love this mod more than any other. I can't say that I know how much attention that it's receiving at the moment, but I sure hope that it will become a major priority soon. Like I have said before, I understand burnout, but I would really love to see one stable version of M3 with machine metal cores at the very least. That seems like it's going to be the biggest change for machines, and it is the one thing that I just can't wait for!

At the very least, Rebelkeith, you should be happy to have so many fans waiting for each and every post! You should be happy to have so many fans hanging on every next bug fix, feature, or full release!

    We love you!

Well I guess the question is, at what point is it beta? If it's stable and open to the public it's probably time to release it as its own mod and say, "here are features not yet added but they're in progress" and "here are known bugs" like any mod.

It'd be less confusing for the average person passing through, and this thread could have a fwd and be locked.

Thanks :) ! By the way awesome icon!

    thank you. :)

I haven't actually tried your mod because our server already has some, but I want to try it in single player. It looks really good and I'm excited to see what else you come out with.

I wonder how hard it would be to add small ponds to the end that we could fish in. The water could be all purple and dark and sparkly, and special fish in it. idk what they'd do tho...

i like that idea, of certain fish only spawnin below a level. Would make them rarer.

I wonder if you could add a lava pole to fish in the nether lava for some weird hellfish :)
