Smart moving was updated to fully work fine with ladder kits.(without holding the grab or changing any configures)
It was? That's fantastic! I'll try to verify.
Sorry for the lack of an update to 1.5.2 guys. I'm really busy with work code lately. I haven't even played MC in over a month. I'll get around to it eventually, I swear, and maybe even throw in some of the new features I planned I want to finish some of my other mods, too. It all comes down to time, though
Idk! Are you using Smart Moving or other mods that might interfere? Maybe this mod doesn't work with whatever version of MC and Forge are out right now. I haven't played since I last updated this mod :3 I've been working on other projects. My interest in MC comes in binges but now that I'm thinking about it I'm probably going to play this weekend slash update this mod.
Hello, awesome mod, greetings, all that. I was wondering how the Moveable Ladder Machine is supposed to work. I know its supposed to go either up or down, but I am unsure how to work it. I'd use the Demo Map, but I have no idea where the zip or its contents are supposed to go. Got any ideas?
Just give it a quick redstone signal and it will move sturdy ladders that are above or below it
For the demo map, drop it folder in the zip file into your ".minecraft/saves" folder
Link is down, something about violating term of service? Mediafire is very fickel
Super strange. When I click the download link in the forum post I can download it just fine, even if I'm logged out of MediaFire. My download stats even say it's been downloaded a bunch of times. I really can't see why you're having issues. Perhaps MediaFire is bugging?
In any case, it's not cool that some of you can't download, so I set up a mirror. I put it in the main post, but here it is for convenience:
Thanks for a great mod!
Can you make Sturdy Ladders more sturdy (It takes just one click to break it right now) and Rope Ladders variant crafted with strings, please?
Oops! The sturdy ladder one-click-break thing was a mistake on my end. That's fixed now
Rope ladders with strings? I don't know why I didn't think of that before. I'll add it to this mod's to-do list.
hey chupmacabre, loving the ladders. Quick question, is the ladder suppose to go down and right back up when used on a button? I was hoping to hit the button and it would go down and stay down, but mine goes right back up after it hits the bottom. The only way it will stay down is with a constant redstone power. Anyways I tried your update too, the retractables all still work the same but I do not know what these movable ladders do because my game crashed when I tried to place the movable ladder block. I thought it was my lousy powercraft mod so I took it out but I'm still crashing when I am entering my world. So I just took them both out for now. Here's the crash log for both times. report 1 is with powercraft and report 2 is without. Maybe you could take a peek and help me out?

I went through all the mods you have installed one-by-one and tested them with my mod and I wasn't able to reproduce the error. I did see where it was coming from, though, and updated the code accordingly. It's strange, though. All I can tell from those logs is that maybe the block has invalid metadata. Did you use an inventory or map editor or something? Anyway, try the newer version and let me know if that fixes it for you
I just updated the mod - renamed and added two new items! There's more I'm working on but don't have time for at the moment. Check the changelog and upcoming features!
Cool mod. Very useful. Mind if I give an idea/ request? Another dispenser. Think retractable bridge/ wall. Able to place like a sticky piston. Maybe red stone activated? Think of the epic traps that could be made as well as structures. If you could do one it would be epic I think.
Very doable. Gives me lots of ideas actually I'll add it to my mod ideas list.
When using the Smart Moving mod can not climb a ladder sliding
Yeah a couple forum members have posted that this isn't compatible with Smart Moving. I need to add a note to the first post. I haven't checked it out myself yet, but I'm pretty sure it's because Smart Moving changes a lot of the, well, movement logic, and if that's the case there's probably not much I can do about it. Like I said, though, I haven't checked it out. I'm working on a big update to this mod, and also working on a couple other mods I haven't posted yet, so the Smart Moving incompatibility is a low priority right now.
But Smart Moving seems to be pretty handy, too, so you have a choice to make. I won't be offended if you pick Smart Moving over this
Another issue- Would it be possible to add a remote that raises and lowers the ladder? Maybe with frequencies so you can tune it to a particular ladder? Or a bottom block at the base of each ladder that you shift-right click on and it lowers that ladder if it's up. Otherwise it's limited to extending only when you are at the top. That's bad news if you fall out of your tree house.
I'm new to mods in general, but I think that you could use Wireless Redstone Chicken Bones Edition (WR-CBE) for the remote idea. I don't want to duplicate functionality of other mods. Plus, it looks like chicken_bones has done a really nice job already. Otherwise you could just build a redstone path to the machine. The redstone signal does not have to be consistently on use the machine; only to activate it and keep it down. It will extend to the full possible length regardless of the power state after it has been activated.
The idea of being able to "tug" on the ladder to cause the machine to retract is interesting. I'll have to play around with the idea and see if I like it.
is this not compatible with smart moving mod? i can't climb any ladders with a supporting wall, however without the supporting wall i can climb only if i hold down the grab button. I'm pretty sure this is do to smart moving mod, this thing gives me trouble with other mods too but i'm so use to it i hate to give it up...lol but your mod just might make me say goodbye to smart moving, if it indeed is my trouble. Very good mod and quite useful when i can use it!
I haven't heard of Smart Moving. I just checked it out. From what I just read, I'm going to say that Smart Moving changes too much of the game's behavior for these to be really compatible, and I can see how it would interfere with other mods as well. It seems like a cool mod, though. I'll have to check it out on it's own.

It was "Retractable Ladders" but now it is "Ladder Kit" (thread here)
Next time you update the list, could you change it? Thank you

No, unfortunately. I didn't start modding until 1.5 came out.

That's strange. Try again? I'm not sure why it shouldn't work. It seems to work for me.
