If no one has stated this yet, an easy fix without hurting it TOO much aesthetically is dig down a couple blocks, so as to keep the animals in a more or less hole. This might be not what you're looking for at all, or not a fix, but it's what I result in doing whenever my animals are phasing through fences. I think just digging down one blog works as well, not positive.
Complete vanilla? Zero changes to the minecraft.jar.
The only exception would be a mod like optifine.
I don't feel like glitches are really 'un-vanilla' because it was already in the coding. Though I'm not going to exploit a glitch if it does something like gives me stacks of diamonds or EXP.
Hey guys, whenever I start a survival game, I always end up getting bored and delete my world, or just going into creative (turning on cheats with LAN), getting frustrated at not "doing this legit", and delete my survival world. I look at other builds and try to make something awesome, but just give up half way. Do you guys have tips to stop this? It would be very much appreciated.
This is going to sound weird, but Minecraft isn't for everyone. There is not a single game out there that is for everyone. Maybe Minecraft just isn't your cup of tea, or at least Survival. If you want to stay interested try setting goals and ideas. Dig into your creativity. But as said before, Minecraft might just not be your cup of tea. It's nothing bad, just not your game.

I think fencing might harm it's aesthetic qualities, the glass might be a good idea, and some shops would add some dimensions, you should have the shops on one level, then build stairs up to a dock higher above the water for a better view
You could build the stairs on the sides that you have already there, like a double set of stairs there. Check it out and see if you like it.

I could use some help with my dock. I've been trying to figure out what to do with my dock. I'm going to be extending it farther than it currently is. It's pretty drab and I'm trying to spruce it up. My original attempts were to make an opening in the center and put fences around so you could look down into the water, but it look awkward. I'm thinking about putting glass running through the center. I might also put shops for looks in the center. I'm really not sure and I don't want to build something, then have to tear it all down. So if anyone has opinions or suggestions, I could use some help on this.
Hey Minecrafters! Before you ask, yes this has been posted before and yes it might still be going on for some people, but for others, they're penpals died on them so I wanted to re-make a thread for it to get some more pairs. I realize your partner won't be on 24/7 constantly refreshing to see exactly when you reply, but I hope anyone who gets paired up will continue sharing info and pics on their survival worlds! To be paired with a penpal, simply post below saying "I want a penpal!" or something along those lines. I will update the thread normally, and add players without a partner that need one, and people who already have a pair and who they got paired with. First poster will get paired with me most likely because I want to join in on the fun too! If anyone wants a penpal to share their minecraft adventures, post below asking!

I don't know about you, but the name tags of the item that appears above my inventory whenever I switch are getting really annoying. I don't want to change my GUI lower so the text isn't as big but I also don't want the text smashed across my screen. I was wondering if there was a simple and easy solution to turning the text off? Without having to go into my .jar and mess around with files. I'm okay with doing that; I was just wondering if there is an easier solution though? Anyone got any answers?
I think I had this once in a temporary world that never really worked out because Minecraft updated again. Not really sure. By the way, please spell awkward right. It is setting off my OCD like a fire alarm in the Nether.
