While running the Server software, I'll get something like this
(IP's blocked out for possible security issue). All of that appears within 5 seconds and keeps appearing for as long as I have the Server running. Any idea on what's happening?
I'm sorry. I don't know why it doesn't work. I know for sure that port 25565 is open, so I dont see why its not working.
*EDIT*
Weird, the port was closed for a bit. But now it's open. You won't be able to connect for a while since it will be down for a bit, but the port is now open.
Hey guys. I have a quick little server that I'm running from home. I have a 25Mbps DL, 1Mbps UL, 4GB RAM, 320GB 7,200RPM HDD, Intel GMA950 Graphics, and can handle about 10 people at once. Anyone that wants to join, feel free to. Also, this is on online server, so sorry to those who have yet to purchase the game.

It's completely Vanilla, and there is no type of mods yet, so try not to grief it up.
Hey guys. I'm a junior in High School, and a few buddies and I play Minecraft in my Computer Programming class when we have free time. We already got the O.K.-Go from our teacher (whom asked the tech department) for us to start an in-class server. I have been given the responsibility to host the server from my computer. We will all be connected to the same inner-school network, and even in the same room. Now, I'm not very experienced with SMP, but I just ran the server software on my computer at home and found that to connect, you need your local IP, not the public IP which I found my local IP on my router page. So if I start the server program at my school, how will I be able to tell them what IP to connect to? Is there some sort of software to determine Local IP addresses? All Command Prompt access is blocked (if it wasn't, I'd just check with ipconfig)
Also, what are some of the recommended server mods I should run (such as chest-protection or other stuff)
Additionally, how can I set different statuses such as Guest, Builder, Admin, etc.? In case someone gets a dark side and griefs then I can demote them.
Sorry for the all of the noobish questions that have most likely been asked before, but I would really appreciate some answers/tips/advice or anything else you got :smile.gif:
It is actually single core. There was never a pentium 4 dual core. But it has two threads, so it appears as two cores to the OS.
Which still makes it faster and more efficient (hyperthreading)
But, to what I was going to say to all those disbelievers: I play on the smaller/not maximized screen (how ever you want to say it), with fast graphics and short rendering distance to achieve these FPS.

Proof:
Now, if any of you have read my second post, in there I stated in ANOTHER world I created, I did experience having lower than 10 fps most of the time. Im not 100% sure on why this happens, but it's strange nonetheless.
Isn't that the mumble overlay fps counter? In my experience, that number is totally wrong.
Nope. It's the fps counter for Fraps and is usually correct.
10 for anyone who tells me how to install this on Ubuntu? Downloaded and extracted the tar.gz but have absolutely no clue what I'm supposed to do with it...
That's awkward. Changing the priority just makes it so your CPU focuses its power on one program more than any other. I don't see how it would affect in-game controls like that. I'm truly stumped by this, sorry for that though :\
No problem. I was just sorta wondering about it. And what is YOUR CPU? It is probably different than mine:
"Intel Celeron CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz 2.19GHz"
This is what mine says. So could the CPU be the problem, or what?
Intel T7200 Core2Duo Dual Core CPU Clocked @ 2.00Ghz
Then you will notice that aside from yours being 2.2Ghz (which .2Ghz of an increase isn't much of an advantage), mine is better than yours. When doing priority, it sets that program to utilize one full core, so since your CPU is a Single-Core CPU, then it's probably causing some sort of error. Mine is a Dual-Core so when I set the priority, it still has another core to run everything else that's not Minecraft.
Another thing you can do is open the task manager (ctrl + alt + del OR ctrl + shift + esc) and right click on javaw.exe, go to priority, and set it to High priority.
Um, sorry, but this made everything hellish bad on my computer. I tried it, went into my world, and the sensitivity was screwed (at 20% it was going at least 120% normal sensitivity speed), I was lagging like all crap, and for some reason, my cursor would go in slow motion in the in-game menu

why isnt the mod out i know u might have a life but that wont stop you from updating this i get 9fps regularly with java 1.6 but im installing beta 1.7 or 7 or whatever u wanna call it but i want to have this unless this doesnt work and pm me if i need jdk and jre 1.7 or 7 or do i just need the jre to boost the performance
anyway this really makes maltiplayer possible with dinosours(aka so ****in slow computers)
Hey, chill with the insults man. The maker of the mod can't just click a button and it auto-updates to be compatible with 1.4 Beta. It takes time to update a mod, and he probably has more important things to do than update a mod for people. But as far as the Java 7, all you need to do is download the JRE from one of the links in my comment a little ways up there ^^^^ depending on your OS.
BTW, after reading your post, my internal Grammar Nazi and Spelling Spetsnaz cringed a little :\

Where the hell did you find a 2Ghz CPU for $20?

Sorry man, I can't help ya there :sad.gif:

Dang, it's gonna be hard upgrading your laptop CPU, and would be pretty pricey. Best thing to do would to get a new, better laptop or get a desktop.

Quick question, Desktop or Laptop?
