You won't find any games like that for Console, console games are meant to appeal to a mass audience, compared to PC games which are usually more diverse because it's where Indie games flourish and where there is Indie games there is unique games, so sorry if you want a game like that you need to get into PC gaming.
Oh, trust me, I couldn't live without my PC indie game collection - I play my fill of PC games. I just have a PS3 for an easy go-to system.
I can only come up with Chivalry Medieval Warfare, which has no magic, but gameplay like Skyrim and focuses on gamemodes like TDM or raids. It's combat is better than Skyrim's IMO.
There's also Torchlight 1 and 2, with some great magical skills and such. It's a top-down hack and slash RPG( A LOT like Diablo).
Not much games add in stuff like hunger and thirst. That's all I got, sorry.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will check out the first one! I have heard about the latter - not a huge fan of hack n slash-diablo-games.
Thanks again.
UPDATE:
I got Morrowind. Been meaning to get it for a loooong time. It is amazing, I love it! So much better than the other TES games (I already knew that though).
Again, thanks for the help from all of you. Feel free to post more game ideas! Time to become dormant on the MCForums again...
all of my what.
I'm not sure if you've noticed, but RPG's are all about stats.
Out of curiosity, what is it that you liked about Skyrim that you hope to find in other games?
Yes, I know what an RPG is, but simply thinking about stats, the next best weapon, and so on ruins the immersion for me, and thus, the game...
Things I love about Skyrim: Well... I love pubs - and buying rooms, I love finding random groups of people on the road to mess with, I love finding a random bandit camp I never heard of, I love using magic, I love archery.. I just love the game - but it gets bland and quests are reused... All the reasons that Morrowind is better (I need to buy it!!!)
Well, the food/sleep mechanics in the Witcher aren't about survival (as in starving to death) but rather about crafting potions, learning skills, and resetting toxicity. Food and drink regenerate some health and mana over time, alcohol gets Gerard drunk (he can skill up to become a better fighter while drunk) and provides a base for crafted potions, and potions provide useful buffs and effects that are essential to succeeding in combat (especially on higher difficulties). Gerard meditates (Witchers don't sleep) before campfires/fireplaces to brew potions and oils and allocate skill points upon leveling up.
While the alchemy-centric combat is nifty, the Witcher's (the game) true strength is in its storyline, with its memorable characters, political and social intrigues and twists, and the cool monsters Gerard hunts. I'd recommend it to any adults looking for a memorable story-driven game.
Stats are abstractions of complex interactions, abstractions that can break the sense of immersion when they become too prominent in the player's mind. Rummaging through one's inventory and comparing the stats of items can also break up a game's pace. Some folks like the numbers and will min/max to their hearts' content while others prefer to become immersed in the game world and its storyline.
Another game I'll recommend is Baldur's Gate. Strong storyline, memorable characters, party-based tactical combat, and one's party needs to rest from time to time to recover from battles/general fatigue and prepare spells. If a party member gets KO'd, one will have to go to a temple to have them resurrected (for a hefty fee), but a party member can also get "chunky" KO'd where the body gets destroyed and the character is perma-dead (unless of course you revert to an earlier save).
Dark souls is a great dark fantasy RPG. I would recommend yo get it for PS3 though as I heard that the PC port was crap.
I love Dark Souls! Just played it a minute ago. It is awesome, I love the darkness of it, although it can get a little crazy. Can't wait for Dark Souls 2! The gameplay demo looks INSANE!
Thanks. I googled it, do you mean Witch Hunter: the invisible world? I cannot find any gameplay videos!
Basically, I need an RPG just like Skyrim, but with very realistic mechanics in combat, resting (setting up camps-sites/hunting) shops, etc..... Just everything but magic a little more realistic.
Hi guys, not really active here on MinecraftForums right now, but this is the only *gaming* forums I am a part of, so:
I got Skyrim when it came out, and loved it. I have been trying to replay it, as I have never actually finished it, but that amazing feeling I got when playing it before it just not there. I still love it, I'm still addicted to it, but the feeling, just is not there anymore. (I actually suppose you can call that amazing 'feeling' ignorance, because now it seems to be all about stats, and weapons, not the actual game.)
So, I need a new RPG: A medieval (very medieval, realistic, dark...) but also fantasy (magic system - good one, orcs, elves - different fantasy races, things like that). I like the camping and eating/resting mods for Skyrim, and would love a realistic RPG with those elements (although I play on PS3... but I do want suggestions for PC).
I already know about the old Elder Scrolls, the Witcher series, Mount and Blade, and the Fallout series (although that's not medieval.)
Thanks.
Again, I play on PS3, but I want suggestions for PC as well :-)
I will ask Exterminator Jeff to reply to this as I'm not sure of the answer. Just curious though as to why swamps have kept you from playing?
Thanks. What I meant by isolating was making it seperate, without the other features of the mod. Just the ability to disable a biome.
The reason that I have not been able to play since swamps is because I simply hate them. I'm not one of those "The current terrain sucks" people, but the swamps are just stupid. They are ugly, pointless (besides the rare witch) and go on forever. It is like a sickening spot in my world that makes it ugly.
I have been trying to counsel myself (lol) to make myself like them, and am working on it. Granted, basically every biome in Minecraft can be considered 'pointless' I suppose, it just adds to the variation and exploration (although this mod is what makes exploration worth while).
Thanks though. Hope to see a release for 1.5 soon! Can't wait!
Are you naming the world the same as the previous or last deleted one? That could be it. Minecraft gets confused if you make a world like "New World" then delete it and make another world "New World" etc etc. Minecraft does not fully delete it then and can cause some issues, especially when messing with superflat worlds.
It doesn't only fix the stairs apparently (according to Mojang) it is supposed to fix other lighting issues. I have not tested it.
Personally, I understand your irritation about the lighting and rendering. It is really irritating me to, as it has been a known problem for quite some time and is taking forever.
But, I am hoping that being patient will play off when we see the final release of 1.5.

Yeah, I know it's awesome, but my PC is not up to scratch for Skyrim...
Ooh, I'll take a look at that. Thanks.

Yes. And I want the Witcher/Witcher 2! They need to come out for PS3 (I dunno if I want to push my laptop for it...)

Yes. Thank you. Immersion/roleplaying>stats/getting powerful IMHO.
Now, would you suggest Morrowind, or Baldur's Gate more? I just kind of discovered Baldur's Gate a while back and have been interested in it :-)

But, as others have said, it sounds like lag.

Brilliant! Yes! I want that now.
Did you think of that yourself? Nice.

Other than that, I really like the spookiness of the wraiths from Mo Creatures, they are pretty freaky!
