no support overal, perhaps soldier (please correct the typo, it is a really confusing one). but is should not fight automaticly, more like a hireling mechanism where you can enlist him by giving him emeralds and a weapon, but no village defense aside for the golem. well, perhaps, if you hit them they will hit you back once.
now, let me critize this guy who thought he could left a note
well, i gotta admit, the last part was a little melodramatic, but i am serious, minecraft is no rpg, and will never be one. i despise such suggestions to the core. if i wanna play an rpg, i did just go to Skyrim.
I have kind of got to agree with you. I mean if a villager can tell you to go kill a boss then he will give you emeralds or something is fine but making it have like go to there and do this and that would be quite bad
Villagers, along with every other mob in the game, are canonically genderless.
(Doesn't stop me from thinking of farmers as having wives.)
Perhaps the miner's inability to affect the landscape could be accomplished by him being a "Wounded Miner" or "Crippled Miner" in some fashion? Or "Claustrophobic Miner" or "Arachnophobic Miner"? He could explain how he was fine mining until he happened across a cave with a spider in it, and now he's too scared to go back. Anyway, some sort of explanation for why he gave up his occupation.
ETA: Actually, "Timid Miner" might work. He mines, say, 1-4 blocks per day. Any time he finds an ore block, he mines it (no more than 1 per day) and refreshes his store of offers. Never mines deeper than a certain depth (so he doesn't go finding diamonds), and doesn't mine closer than X blocks (32?) to any village door, which should keep him from undermining your foundations.
Maybe the door would lead to a abandoned mine-shaft that has to little torches and so it has to many zombies and other mobs to go into. I also like the timid miner idea. Actually never mind about the to dark idea. Full support on the timid miner. It would be a great add
This is exacly what i also think! i would just love to add more villagerstuff to minercaft.
Here is some more ideas:
Major/king: the leader of the village, has a golden helmet, two iron golems that follows him. he has the biggest house with moch more stuff then the other villagers have. he also wears a medal, that you can trade for 100 emeralds. if you get it, you will become the leader of the village.
Dude that is kind of extreme. maybe just he trades, diamonds, gold, emeralds, he has a big house and iron golems have attraction to him and all attack anything that attacks him even when there are other threatened villagers.--------------------------------------------------
Well, villages are not very common, and I've never seen one big enough to spawn an iron golem. So the first night, all but one or two of the villagers are dead, because I can't run around and protect all of them. Which is pretty annoying, and takes the fun right out of villages when there's no one there. So I support soldier, but give him chain armor, because you can only get it through testificuts and it'd make sense for them to wear it. Not so sure about the others, however.
May I advise millenaire?
Umm... yeah no support on that one------------------------------------------
These are some more new villager ideas that have been wanted by other resources without a curse account.
Builder Villager
Builds houses just like the name implies. It will continue to expand the village to a point of a 100 block radius and won't build near a man placed door. Trades, building material, and tools.
Explorer Villager
For 7 days at a time the explorer villager leaves the village and chops trees, mine, and attack monsters. Carries a stone sword and mines 12 blocks deep and only explorers up to 200 blocks.
Perhaps a small grunting and a post in chat (When attacked by zombies):
<Villager>: Help!
Other things they could post in chat:
When attacked by the player
<Villager>: Hey!
After trading:
<Villager>: Thank you friend.
I strongly agree with the chat post idea. It makes villagers more interactive
the I thought there should be more villagers and here is some of my ideas
Solider Villager
The solider villager would be just like a normal villager except he/she would be armed and would retaliate. The solider villager would trade, armor, swords, bows, arrows, and so on. The solider villager would have a stone sword sword and chain helmet. Has a simple cobblestone house with a chest of mob drops. Goes out at night and kills all aggressive mobs. Has same health level as normal villagers.
Miner Villager
similar to the solider villager but had a iron pickax and traded, coal, iron ingots, emeralds, gold ingots, diamonds, flint, and pickaxes. No armor. Cobblestone house with a chest of the same as what he/she trades. In his/her house is a door that leads to a mine shaft with mine carts. At night the miner villager goes to the mine shaft. *Don't actively mine.
Merchant Villager
Doesn't trade sells at his/her house/store and uses a currency of , emeralds, diamonds, gold ingots, iron ingots, coal, seeds, meat, bread, and apples. Each item has a different value and a mixture may be used to pay.

This can make it RPG like but it would be a good add to minecraft, but to many quests can make it like what LesserLoops said.
