posted a message on Bobo's Supermarket (Food mod) [4.5k+ downloads!] (ICE CREAM UPDATE!)

    September status update:

Alpha 1.5 is not under development yet. I have ideas that I could probably implement quickly however. I am waiting for MCreator for MC1.12 to make Alpha 1.5, however it is taking quite a while, and if by mid-october it has not been released, I will probably just march ahead and launch it for only 1.10.2 and 1.11.2.

1.7.10 may not end up receiving Alpha 1.5 if MC1.12.1 gets MCreator. If it doesn't, 1.7.10 will likely get the update.

then the community would die down eventually and this forum would slowly fall to inactivity.

I feel like this is slowly sort've happening. But only sort've. Let me explain (before you attempt to roast me).

The game is in a crucial moving stage of its community. 5 years ago, the community was maybe 1/2 people under the age of 10. And 1/2 people over 10. I get that these aren't statistics, but just keep reading. As time has gone on, more and more people from the over 10 demographic have been leaving, and more and more people under 10 have been taking their place. For the servers, this really isn't a massive difference. Newbs playing on their server and buying ranks are the same as pros doing it. For communities like this one however, it has been very bad. Because the newbs don't go straight to the forum, because they want to play more, and discuss less. And the more experienced older players leaving, are the ones on this forum site! What we need is either enough people to cling on, or the newbs to start coming onto the forums and learning. Just my theory.

I don't think autoupdates are that bad.

When you restart your computer in the middle of a gameplay session with freinds online because something is messed up (like your microphone drivers, or a program), and then are forced an update (Which can take ages!) down your throat, it definitely feels bad. Even if it was just a reminder when you turned on your PC, thats a lot better than "Heres the update file, stuff it!"

Start Menu Ads Are trivial to disable.

Cortana is also trivial to disable. I disabled it. the "Cortana" process itself houses both Cortana and Windows Search, so Cortana still appears in task manager, this seems to be the sticking point for people to kick and scream about it.

Autoupdates are easily disabled with Group Policy Editor. (I think registry edits can do it too?) Or simply disabling the Windows Update Process, I suppose.

Things are only "hard to disable" for the uninitiated; and the uninitiated shouldn't be going around disabling things anyway.

The fact that you have to actually spend 10 minutes using google and youtube to disable autoupdates is just stupid. Its my OS, give me freedom. If new malware gets reported, I'll update. Simple as that.

posted a message on Why is my Minecraft slow ?

If you don't have really any 1.12 blocks, you can downgrade to the last version you need. For a source, on my trash laptop, 1.6 yields around 40 more FPS than 1.7. 1.8 is around a 30 drop off. And it goes downhill from there. (From 1.6-1.12 I went from ~160FPS to 45 FPS).

    ridiculous amounts of bloatware.

You mean the start menu ads, Cortana, autoupdates and Microsoft edge?

(I am a W10 user but absolutely hate it as an OS). Too much trash that is hard to disable. Thank god for classic shell, the autoupdate loophole, and good web browsers.

I love being able to look in other directions, but keep going in another, in boats. And they don't break in crazy ways (like, when you hit a lily pad). And we can sit in the back of them and let someone else navigate. And use them to transport mobs. The new boats are a huge improvement; I think it's a bit picky to complain about the control - it's different, sure, and it takes some getting used to. Ah well... no matter what is changed, there's always someone that doesn't like it!

Honestly, I basically only used boats in open oceans (if you are traveling down a river, just run tbh). And I if anything disliked the change, because boats are slower now.

1.10 is close, now, with some of the big mods being updated on that (but not 1.7) - but yeah, sure; 1.7 is fine for modded, at the moment; I use it for some packs. Hopefully 1.13 will be the big new benchmark for modding...although it's gonna take a lot of work for some types of mod.

Alright, 1.10 may be getting lots of mods, but in no way is it going to be a 1.7.10. Looking at the pages of mods on curseforge, 1.7.10 has 202 pages, MC1.10 has 142, and 1.6.4 has 42. Mod-Wise, 1.7.10 might be the best ever, with updates like 1.11 and 1.12 coming out (Not adding much challenge, but requiring a recode, and devs decide not to even bother).

posted a message on Can the hacked clients hack my account?

Trust me, you are fine, none of these guys track (And they physically can't unless you add your acct to alt manager). I did this years ago with nodus and more recently mods (I did not use the hacks themselves, just used them for the alt-manager).

Shulker box, elytra, depth-strider, mending. (To name just a few, to illustrate)

Am I a Mojang fanboy (or girl) just because I love Minecraft?

Shulker box. Why? I have enderchest and backpack mod? Elytra is a gimmick, and I have archimedes ships anyways. Depth Strider? Well I guess maybe on Pixelmon when you actually spend time in the ocean, but in vanilla you never even should spend time in the ocean. Mending? I'll just use an anvil tbh.

And as for being a fanboy, my definition of fanboyism is that you overlook anything that your favorite company does because they are mojang. If you are a fanboy under my definition, that is Very bad. We are getting on a whole new discussion now, but please, speak out when there is a bad update, and don't go, "Its Minecraft, so it's good no matter what!" That is what kills franchises. And that is also why Online is paid on all 3 consoles now (Getting WAY into a greater discussion now, sorry mods). If valve did that, they would get enormous criticism, (Because a lot of "Hardcore" PC gamers will criticize no matter what company does it). This is Amazing for Gaming itself. If people don't criticize games because its from their favorite company, every game coming out would be a broken mess.

TLDR; Don't refrain from criticizing because its your favorite game/company. It would kill gaming if nobody criticized.

posted a message on Should I update from 1.7.2.?

1.8- gimmicks (lag beacons, stained glass trash, stupid new blocks)

1.9- Combat changed, tbh the change was okay, but thats about it

1.10- nether wart blocks. commands. Polar bears. Thats about it.

1.11- New types of villagers, shucker boxes, llamas and woodland mansions.

1.12- Tips for newbs, concrete, colored beds, and parrots.

So in other words, you get almost nothing useful with these updates. They only publish these updates so n00bs stop complaining for them to update the game. If you want to add more content to your game, do it with 1.7.10 mods. You'll have a MUCH better time.

And before I get flamed on by some mojang fanboys, tell me how any of this is useful or adds a use at all that I would actually use? (Besides 1.9 pvp and shields ofc).

Can you get the model info or specs for both computers. Just cause it has a newer OS (Windows 10 vs 7), doesn't mean the computer is actually newer or better than the previous.

This is what I was going to say. The PC could be miles worse but running a newer OS.

I want to get as much fps as possible i also play CS:GO and the more fps the better. how much do u think this would run on MC?

Idk about MC, but it would be 150+ in CS. Also, you realize that the display on this laptop only displays 60FPS, right? So after 60FPS on this laptop, you won't even be able to see the difference...

That laptop is extremely overkill for a little game like MC lol. MC runs just fine on Intel HD graphics, and that laptop has a freaking 1050 ti. And an i7? why?

I absolutely love Ubuntu, Elementary OS and Mint, the lack of DirectX is a heartbreaker though. I have to run W10 for my steam library. Its unfortunate. I hate W10 itself, my least favorite version of windows.
