Start with a 5x5 square (horizontally).
Put the enchanting table directly in the middle.
Leave the 3x3 circle alone.
Put bookshelves in the 5x5 circle.
Put another row of bookshelves directly above the other ones.
Remove 2 bookshelves wherever you want for a door.
Voila! You have a compact, max enchantment level enchanting room.
If I have the ceiling be 3 high rather than 2 high, or make an extra level out of bookshelves for aesthetic purposes, will I still get the maximum level?
The wiki sort of describes how to arrange the bookshelves around the enchanting table for max enchantments, but I'm having trouble understanding what it's saying. Could somebody explain the most efficient way to arrange bookshelves around an enchanting table? Wood and reeds are in basically infinite supply for me.
1. If I build a pen of glass, and on top of sand, can I fit infinite animals inside without suffocation/starvation?
2. Is there any problem with mixing different kinds of animals in one pen?
I've always been fascinated with making mob traps, but I've never been able to find a design that I really like. I don't need to have millions of pieces of string, and at the same time I don't have the kind of resources to build really big ones. Does anybody know of any designs for a middle-of-the-line mob trap that can give me a reasonable amount of mob drops while not using excessive amounts of resources (maybe 5-10k cobblestone?)?
If people voted solely off of what had been done in the last year, Mojang would win this matchup for sure. But in the end it's a popularity contest inevitably won by a studio like Valve, Bioware or Blizzard, that haven't innovated or made something new in years.
What do you guys do when you die and need to get back to your base?
Also, I died in my SSP before I had built a beacon by my base, and it's entirely underground. I have MCEdit. Is there a way I can find it easily? Also, if there's a way to view only one block type at a time, I'm sure that it contains the only signs, doors, half steps and beds in the world. Any help?
You do recognize that it's completely possible to play the game without using a bed at all? The update gives people the ability to skip the night where they would have tabbed out for 8 minutes. Some people devote finite amounts of time to Minecraft, and I like to be playing the game that entire time.
The way people act when someone else does something they don't like in singleplayer makes me wonder why I'm a member of this community at all. Is it necessary to pitch a fit because of a change that, based on the way you seem to play the game, won't effect you at all?
The only thing I use MCEdit for is moving my character and spawn around for the sake of convenience. I enjoy making my buildings legit, but walking for 10+ minutes just gets boring.
I've planned out a building that requires 30x30 of clear, level, space. I cleared it out, and was left with 4-5 block high sheer walls around two edges. I want to carve out a natural looking hill from it. Is there a guide/image that could explain this?
I'm wanting to buy the game while it's still cheap, and would feel a lot more comfortable doing so in my native language. Is it possible to get the page to pay for the full game to display in English?

1. It said it's shipping to my address. Shipping what?
2. I was logged in with my Mincraft.net account when I entered all my card info and it's not letting me play Alpha. Does it just take a while to work?
Edit: My question with #1 is, what is there to ship, not what a shipping address is.

Edit: Thanks, got it.

Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz CPU
Geforce FX 5200
3 GB of RAM
Is that good enough to build a large amount of stuff without lag?
