posted a message on Valkyrian Warfare Status Post

For the sky pirates faction server, I have some ideas for additional weapons and stuff. In no particular order:

Cannon: consumes 1 gunpowder and 1 cannonball (crafted with iron or something idk) to shoot an explosive projectile at a ship. Powered by redstone and shoots straight forward, basically a dispenser with more range.

Bomb: a handheld explosive, can be thrown or shot from a dispenser. Much less range than a cannonball, making it dangerous to use.

Parachute: wear on your back, hold space while falling to deploy, lets you fall slower and cancels fall damage. Very useful if you're falling from a high place. Not so useful if there's only void below you.

Anchor: a very heavy block suspended from a chain, can be powered with redstone to raise or lower. Can be used to attach to a land mass.

Rope ladder: a ladder that works in the air, can be right clicked to drop so you can climb down on things.

Grappling hook: Can be thrown by hand, or shot from dispensers. Grapples on to something and either pulls it towards you, or you to it.

Life preserver: a compressed-air mechanism that places a single gold block below your feet even if there is no block to place it on. One wonders why the design requires a gold block and not something cheaper, like wood. Perhaps it gives an incentive for passing ships to stop for a stranded pirate, or maybe the inventors didn't want people sprintjumping through the air leaving ugly stacks of wood everywhere. Or there's some technical reason that only engineers get.

Catapult: can launch blocks. Adjust the angle by right clicking, then power with redstone to fire (this has the possibly-wanted side effect of lighting any TNT you may have in there).

Cartapult: an ingenious combination of a minecart and catapult. Can launch players into the air, allowing raiders to land on ships, kill the crew and take everything without the risk of Voiding the ship's precious cargo in a cannon fight. Or miss the ship and die hilariously.

Harpoon: Improves upon the original design of the lead, by adding a pointy stabby part. Attach to a fence post and throw by hand. Lets you latch on to other ships, mobs (such as dragons or space whales), or blocks. Note, space whale hunting is now illegal due to how endangered they are, but many believe that the weird anime clans continue to hunt them.

Rum: a magical substance created from fermented sugar. In excess, it is able to give players nausea and a lack of coordination, as well as making all other players seem 500% more attractive. Pirate tradition holds that this drink's influence inspired the creation of the cartapult.

ENDAR: shows you any ships in your nearby vicinity, using the frequencies emitted by ender pearls or something like that. Fun fact: This technology was first used by a British clan. When nazi griefers called "hacks!" and demanded to know how they could see their ships, the Brits replied that they eat a lot of golden carrots. This meme led to the false belief scientific fact that carrots contain the magical property of night vision, now a staple in modern alchemy.

Hi I saw your mod your working on and I think it going to be the best mod but I had idea and some suggestions one of them is for hippogriffin can make spawn in jungle biome and have the coloration of the harpy eagle to match it biome. One suggestion is can also add griffins ,they can live the mountains and have nest treasures and there eggs and hunt horses and others animals plus you can tame it as baby by hatching it and when it grows up you can ride it . Another suggestion is can add forest dragon , it can spawn in forest and jungle it can have four legs and have small wings to glide add hunt anything even players I got this I idea by watching a dragon documentary that tell about other dragon and talk about the forest dragon. I hope guys like these ideas tell what you think about this.

What would be the point of griffins when hippogriffs are already a thing?

To everyone arguing about the naga/siren/gorgon thing:

Sirens are regular mermaids, who would sit on rocks and sing, and their voices would enchant sailors and make them come to them, where they would be devoured. This mod's mermaids seem to be a harmless version of sirens. Renaming this mod's nagas to sirens sort of makes sense because they're hostile mermaids, but that also leaves out their singing ability which is a siren's main thing. And also note that the words "siren" and "mermaid" are synonymous in many languages.

Nagas have many different variations in different mythologies. The Hindu nagas are half-human half-snake nature goddesses that grant fertility and inhabit bodies of water. The Buddhist nagas are like many-headed cobras that can turn into humans. There are a whole bunch of others, but I think what this mod was going for is the Philippine naga. In Philippine mythology nagas are vicious snake-like mermaids that guard treasure.

The Gorgons kind of resemble Hindu nagas in appearance, but this mod's nagas are clearly not the Hindu ones. Also in behavior they are nothing alike.

So basically, mermaids in this mod should stay mermaids and nagas should stay nagas. They're both mythologically accurate for the most part.

Good question. Myrmex come in two colors so it would be cool if the armor came in two colors. And it would look a little strange to walk through a desert Myrmex colony wearing jungle colored armor. But at the same time it would mean having to create separate items for each, the "chitin" the armor is made from, and I don't know how much of a hassle that would be for the developers and player storage space.

Personally I plan on baiting them into walk-in auto kill grinders for drops. If it turns out that we'll be able to contain and farm them (I really hope so) then auto grinders might be needed just to keep down their numbers.

Seeing as dragonscale armor comes in both colors, I don't think it would be too farfetched to have myrmex armor be 2 colors as well.

Here's what the bestiary looks like now as I just finished the introduction section.

(Yes, I see the bugs too).

The silver armor reminds me a lot of Third Age armor from Runescape. Not sure if that was intentional (or if anyone here remembers Runescape) but I thought that was cool.

Hey you know what would be cool? This might already be in progress, but what if there were dragon societies. Most of the time dragons live in caves and single ones are extremely hard to deal with, but what if there were armies? The dragons could have hard to find, hidden away colonies, and even countries. And occasionally if you had a lot of resources, and I mean a lot, a scout dragon would come, eventually followed by his or her country! You'd have to have a huge village (because villagers and snow villagers could use swords and bows and shields and would have armies and kings, who would request you to come to their aid!) and skill fighting because they'd come to plunder all your hard work. Just thinking out loud :)

At first I thought you meant societies like villages whose warriors have tamed dragons, not actual societies of dragons. I don't think dragons are intelligent enough to form civilizations, also it would be really OP if they did.

Since we're talking about the Labors of Hercules:

    • Labor 1: The Nemean Lion: Already might be added, I heard.
    • Labor 2: The Lernean Hydra: Should be a new swamp boss. Heads act as separate entities with low hp, body has high hp (but the player won't be attacking the body because, you know, the heads would bite him first). Killing a head leaves a stump for a few seconds, then spawns 2 more heads in its place unless you either use fire aspect or a flint and steel to cauterize it. Drops a whole bunch of hydra blood which is basically a Poison III potion, and some decorative heads.
    • Labor 3: The Hind of Ceryneia: Could be a passive mob that runs really fast and avoids the player, so it's hard to catch. But I think one of the devs previously said they don't want to add it so idk.
    • Labor 4: The Erymanthean Boar: Boars could be a new hostile mob found in forests. Like dragons, serpents, and death worms, their size could vary, from being slightly bigger than pigs, to bear sized, and the rarest of all, giant swine as tall as trees which inspire myths like the Erythmanean Boar.
    • Labor 5: The Augean Stables: Don't really see how this one could fit into Minecraft tbh. It's literally cleaning stables.
    • Labor 6: The Stymphalian Birds: Already planned.
    • Labor 7: The Cretan Bull: I guess hostile bulls could be a thing? But honestly there's nothing special about them so idk how I feel about this one.
    • Labor 8: The Horses of Diomedes: A hostile horse variant could be doable, but I'd rather have this mod bring back the Killer Bunny.
    • Labor 9: The Belt of Hippolyte: Not a fan of this one for Minecraft.
    • Labor 10: Geryon's Cattle: Red cattle from a mystical far off island? Sounds like it's time to take creative license and integrate Minecraft's own mythology. On mushroom islands, a fenced off area could spawn populated by mooshrooms. These mooshrooms however are guarded by a giant mushroom creature with three heads and six legs (that's how Geryon was described in the myth).
    • Labor 11: The Apples of the Hesperides: I mean golden apples are already a thing in the game, so this would be unnecessary. Also it's too lore heavy imo.
    • Labor 12: Cerberus: I suppose that could just be a giant three headed hound boss that spawns in the Nether. But personally I wouldn't want to add such an iconic monster without it having some important reward or reason for the player to go after it, and I currently cannot think of one. But then again, Minecraft's "underworld" already holds a three headed monster associated with death. Who knows, maybe the ancient people were really misinformed and recorded the Wither as being a doggo?

So,will a Gorgon be able to turn a dragon to stone?

If I remember correctly Raptor said it would be size dependent, so it would not affect large creatures like dragons (and I'm guessing also ghasts, withers, sea serpents, and certain dinosaurs probably). I actually suggested that for large/powerful creatures the gorgon head should scare them away but idk if that will be a thing.

Hey, great mod dudes, my favorite so far !
But beaches aren't generating correctly in version 3.1.1.3-snapshot for MC 1.9.4 :

    I hope you'll fix that soon :D

That's honestly a beautiful screenshot and at first I was like "What's wrong with it? Is the water slope too steep or something? It looks fine" then I noticed the weird square beaches.

I still can't understand why people call each other out on grammar/spelling. I mean obviously If Your Typeing Liek This It Does, Look Ugly And Anoying And Mihgt, Distract Teh Reader but like if someone makes minor grammar mistakes or says "dieing" you obviously knew what they meant why do you care? All language is is just a way to communicate ideas.

Will the different races have genders?

Different races of what? Dragons or villagers?

Not a developer but I'm assuming no because nothing else in Minecraft has genders.

Also I'm having another strange bug, it seems that I cannot get daughters whatsoever, I procreated with my mc wife like 7 times and each time I always get a boy. This also happens on other villagers when I give them cake, they will always have a baby boy.

    Henry XIII would be jealous.

Also since we're talking about myrmex, their hives should contain amber, like in this suggestion. You could obtain it either by mining from their hive (which would turn them hostile) or trading them food for resin and then crafting that into amber.

Perhaps deeper in the hive, one may find ancient amber that the myrmex have kept unspoiled for millenia, and whatever long dead creatures may lie within that amber... (sorry for all the F/A related suggestions but I had to lmao)

We have reached maximum hype levels!

Btw does this mean wild dragons are going to be hostile to each other? Is it just against the other type (ice vs fire) or are dragons of the same type also going to fight?
