    Hey, Cuchaz! Axciom here complimenting you for the wonderful progress you've done. Great Work! Also I am here to share an idea I've been having for this mod. I read somewhere around this thread that you were planning to add a sort of animation for sails. Here's my proposal, might be hard to explain and could be confusing on your part but I hope we can come to an understanding.
    So here it is:

    "Sail Block"

    You have a tiny ship block and a small ship block but I'm hoping you would consider adding a sail block.
    You ask: What does it do?
    Simple, you install it on a ship and once you right click it(whether the ship is launched or not):
    Any wool block of whatever color connected to it will be transformed into an entity, similar to how a ship block transforms any block connected to it into an entity.
    Now the group of wool blocks will now be multiple connected blocks and will be grouped as a sail. And they can move, like they were moving with the wind, like how a real sail would behave.
    Well, they would move if the ship was moving as well, and works both whether the ship is launched or not.
    But it doesn't end there, SHIFT-Right clicking the block would toggle the sail from unfolded, to folded, preventing the ship to move.
    This also opens the idea of multiple sails, like sails on different masts and unfolding multiple sails would be like shifting gears if we are referring to a car.
    Modifying the ships speed, depending on how many sails are unfolded and how big these sails are. More unfolded sails, more speed.

    "FULL SAIL! GIVE ME FULL SAIL!"

    Also opens the ideas for the use of crew members. still works for solitary sailors as well, just harder.
    And you can animate these sails, either as one group or per individual block.
    Now I know that you're busy implementing other ideas for the mod but It would gladden me if you were to add this to your list.

    This Idea is open for change, this change depends on you, the developer. Know that this is just a proposal and you can manipulate this idea to well fit your desires.
    I don't care if I don't get credit for the idea, or it may take a long while before it becomes implemented, and i'm sure it's pretty hard to code but I would be a happy and hopeful Captain if this idea becomes reality... eventually.

    And by the way, when I posted my ship, I never intended to start a competition.

    And the ship wasn't replicated, it was inspired, you can see the differences of the Jackdaw and Lady Kaheya, especially by the number of masts and sails. But I bet you all knew that..

    When the mod comes out I would really wish for someone to start a server and invite all of us as I would really love to sail with you people! :)Wonderful creations people! HAHA!

    Wow, It looks like everyone is posting their magnificent creations! I guess I should post mine too :)
    My friends, let me present to you,









    I hope this mod can support a big ship like this without any lag.. It took me like 6-10 sessions of building it 1-3 on furnishing it
    It was inspired by the Jackdaw from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, but I decided to give it 3 masts and a much different design... It is still a pirate ship however

    Axciom here with another question!

    So if a block is "not" connected to the ship... it wont be apart of the ship.. I am sure this is intended so there wont be any problems, but I built my ship like this:
    [ ] [ ]
    [ ] [ ]
    [ ]

    [ ] are blocks, the empty space is air

    Are they considered connected? Likely not... but maybe you can make a block detect 3x3 like this

    [a] = detection
    [b] = block

    [a][a][a] [a]
    [a][b][a] instead of this: [a][b][a]
    [a][a][a] [a]

    Fully 3-dimensional

    I encountered this problem with Archimedes ships but on a smaller ship(but built the same way), and the results were horrible.
    The ship couldn't move because the blocks that were supposed to be apart of the ship blocked it from moving...
    I don't really want to encounter the same problem on this mod and most especially since it took me a long time to build my ship and modifying it will be even longer and harder....
    But if what I am requesting is impossible or way beyond your reach then I will modify the ship or maybe build another one so this problem will be avoided.

    Axciom here once again with another question!
    Hope you don't mind :)

    Now, I am sure that you have stated that some non-vanilla blocks may not work well along with the ship entity your mod creates, I'm just wondering if non-vanilla entities are the same...

    For example, I want to equip my ship with cannons from Balkon's Weapon mod(It's an entity! :D), I'm just wondering whether it will actually work well with the ship I mean:

    Can I still mount it?
    Can it still function properly?
    Will the rotation be buggy? (Which really isn't that important I hope)
    Will it's position be buggy? (Big problem)

    Now I know you might not know the answer to any of these questions as you have never tried it,
    but I a theoretical statement would suffice to my needs :)

    Hey Cuchaz!
    It's Axciom again here with a few more questions...

    With sails you are able to propel your ship, but do more sails give more speed or a higher acceleration for my ship?

    and one more thing, about the helm...
    Is it able to rotate when you turn or strafe your ship... something like that, like how it would in real life.
    Even if it doesn't or you find it hard to make it a possibility then it is okay with me, at least there is one :3

    A few more questions, if you dont mind...
    I dont believe this was covered in the FAQ or perhaps too obscure for my understanding...
    Will I be able to load ships to another ship?

    My example would be:

    I would load a diving bell(submarine type ship, but I'm sure you know what it really is) into my ship,
    and can I push them? like how a player pushes other entities?
    I want to push it off my ship and into the water, the problem is getting it back up to my ship... but that's my problem to solve.

    Another example would be:
    Aircraft Carriers: Instead of planes, it would carry Zeppelins or Airships and such.


    And another one...
    What do you mean by proper helm?
    Is it a fully modeled round-ish helm? or just a block that has its functionality.
    Either way is fine.

    By the way, if you're looking for beta testers then I would gladly volunteer.
    However I can not actively report bugs for I have school, but I will,no doubt, give full priority to testing it every time I am on my computer.

    Hey! Cuchaz! First of all, wonderful work so far, I love where this is going but forgive me for any disturbance or bother when I ask a couple of questions...

    First off is how big is the support for big ships is,
    Because I built a pretty large Pirate ship, around 60-70+ blocks long and is just as tall as she is long (probably taller),
    I'm just asking because I want to see her sail and your mod gives much promise to making my wish come true.

    Secondly, I humbly ask how the sails work, I mean...
    Is it just functionality or does it also have aestheticism,
    like does it show as a sail or just a block(or something else), with the functionality of a sail.
    I ask this because I already built sails on my ship and I don't really want to remove them...

    Thank you for your time and If the mod supports nothing of the above then I completely understand and will build a much smaller, more adaptable ship. I just wanted to ask ahead of time so I can start building this said ship before your mod is released.

    Once again, thank you for your time my friend! Wonderful work in progress, cannot wait to see it... SAIL!

    Why would you like to play on our server?: The fact that it's a vanilla server, it is pretty hard to find servers like this that has great moderation, a simple set of rules and probably a nice community since it is a whitelist.

    Seems as though as that server automatically bans high pinged users, and being from a far away country...
    The reason for my ban was quite clear. Hehehe, that was a really long time ago... perhaps 2011? or 2012....My younger years as a Minecraftian. My friends often complain about "Aliens" as they lag out the server in other online games... Hope that doesn't apply in this server.

    I like the Ideas of trains and want to help as much as I can,
    Im quite a novice at coding,
    a good Texture Maker (Not Well with skinning though, but still capable)
    and I can model, but its a bit complicated, by that I mean my system lags alot when the model gets bigger, I know the basics of making models compatible with rotation (like the use of offsets and such)...
    And Im not fairly online active but I can still work on the mod offline (If you will accept me), and will give you news once I get connected...
    I would like to make a model of a train as a preview of how I work...

    Also, does this mod revolve around the idea of industrial-age Trains or modern-type trains... (I like both but I love industrial-age trains better as they fit well with minecraft in my opinion)

    Hey, I would like to report a bug that would crash the game... Although I have come unprepared for I do not have a crash log but I may as well tell you the problem in case you might be able fix it even without a crash log..

    Ok here's the thing.... I installed this mod along with the Flintlock Weapons mod, cause I believe a musket and horse would go well together, don't you? Well anyways when the bullet entity hits a ridden horse,(I tested that its still possible to shoot & kill a horse without crashing as long as no one is riding it) It crashes the game. So my theory is that when a non-vanilla entity hits/damages the horse(when its ridden), the game crashes.

    If you cant fix anything without a crash log then I'll post one when I have the time.
    I humbly request that you fix this :)

    Backstory(Optional but will add to the application and it'll be more likely to be accepted):

    Life wasn't easy for this little chap at his young age, he was pushed around and made fun of throughout his childhood by the other children who felt superior to him. He grew up at a poor, struggling peasant village. His mother died when he was 4 and his father followed soon after, when he was 7. He had a stepmother that did not appreciate his existence. The only man that loved him more than his parents ever did was his uncle Henry Vildrake, who treated him as if he was his son, he was also the village elder. Later, as an adolescent, he became quite skilled at the art of fighting, he stood up for the children that were abused because he knew how it felt. These children looked up to Axciom, as a leader, as a brother. He was creative, quick-witted and charismatic. At a later date, things took a turn for the worst for the village where Axciom resides... For it has been attacked by bandits! The bandits came by storm from all directions, the villagers did not know what to do, the bandits came at dawn, where most of the populace were still asleep where they were awaken by the bandit's roars and loud footsteps...
    The village was not fortified with stone walls and an army of skilled fighters, as it was an agricultural village.
    However, it was garrisoned by some militia who at least knew how to swing a blade. As well as Henry who had his share of the war.
    Axciom wanted to fight alongside his uncle, but his uncle refused, for he did not want to see the boy get hurt. Axciom, a stubborn fellow, did not listen to his uncle. His uncle, quite furious, had no choice but to knock him out and sent to a caravan that is headed towards the Gold Craft kingdom. What happened to the village and his uncle... no one knows.
