Introduction
Welcome to Aquaculture! An expansion of Minecraft's fishing system. For those that know me, you know I'm the creator of Metallurgy, another expansion mod that greatly enhanced the mining system in Minecraft. Well Aquaculture is my attempt to do the same for the bland fishing system. In Aquaculture you never know what you'll catch. Every biome is home to tons of unique fish you can only catch in that biome, and there's a myriad of new loot items you can randomly catch while fishing.
All of this is made possible by simply crafting the Iron Fishing Rod.
The Iron Fishing Rod
This new shiny addition is a gateway to your journey into Aquaculture! Simply crafting it will enable all the features of the mod. By using a new fishing rod, I was able to avoid making base class edits ot the game which would severely harm any compatibility with other mods as well as ceaselessly complicating multiplayer/updates.There are plans for new and better fishing rods that will increase your chances to get cooler loot while fishing (Gold, Diamond, and Neptunium are all planned!)
The Fishables
Ah yes the part you've all been waiting for, Aquaculture's 32+ new fish and 12+ fishable loot items! For the mostpart Aquaculture sticks to realism, the new fish are (mostly) real species that have been translated into Minecraft.

-The Fishing Rod is inverted oddly
-In SMP the fishing rod sometimes "bounces" when you cast, making the noise of a fish biting, just ignore the first few.

Hey guys! Really liking this mod with Harvestcraft. Between orchards, fields, and critters, even the deserts bloom. One question. I have a world with a really huge canyon that I walled off for critters. Do the animals HAVE to fed and watered from troughs, or can they use ponds and planted fields for food? The idea is start a breed and release program for an otherwise desolate area of this world. What? I'm a builder.

Just stumbled over this mod and all I can say is FINALLY! I play in peaceful 99% of the time and only kill my critters when absolutely necessary. I also grew up in farming communities, so yes, three streaks for killing a whole cow? Riiiiiiiight. Where I live, even the intestines feed dogs. All parts get used either as food or crafting supplies. My only other logical addition to the drops would be bones. One for small critters like rabbits and chickens, up to 10 for cows and horses. And maybe the option of using bone handled tools. You'd be surprised how cool carved or scrimshawed handles can be.
I'll shut up and download now.

Great addition! I play peaceful mode 99% of the time. Instead of adding new trees, try creating dirt by mixing things like cactus, dead bush, leaves, sticks, with sand, water, maybe bone meal or seeds to create a grass block. instant farming. Then add back the old, old, OLD mechanic of a sapling occasionally sprouting when bone mealing a grass block. Wood acquired.

10pack is back? WOO HOO! Hey, Erinbutt, here's another one you can ask for advice. One of the things you could specialize in, perhaps, is flowering mosses or spreading ground cover. Imagine castles and mansions with colorful variations of Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone bricks. Spreading plants like climbing roses, honeysuckle, trumpet vine, wisteria, flowering clover could grow on fences. Creeping alyssum, edelweiss, common spreaders like Iris, daffodil, daisy, day lily, most come in all different colors, and make gorgeous variegated fields and manor yards. Plus they haven't been made yet, so no competition with other mods or possible ID conflict. We could also do with colorful trees like scarlet maple, desert Willow (or any weeping willow), or at least some kind of vine like cover that can be added to common trees as a flower decoration. These won't have to grow. But they will make pretty orchards. Flower seeds are another thing Pam got me addicted to. And separating the different flower and food beds with glow flowers make spectacular night scenes. In the end, it's your mod. Minecraft is the only place I can make flowers grow. I'm not kidding; in real life I kill the un-killable plants. XD

A long time ago I had a paint mod and enjoyed having color co-ordinated houses, gardens and fences. I have just one word for this: YAAAAAY!

Personally, I give myself building challenges, like taming a ravine into an inhabitable series of balcony buildings or hollowing out high hills into fortresses and strongholds. If you hunt monsters, imagine getting an indoor field with a quartz boarder and glowstone fountain up and running, ready to harvest enough wheat to make hay bales for your indoor stable, only to be attacked by three to five creepers. Then again, I'm a builder, not a fighter, so 95% of the time I'm in Peaceful mode.
Starting a village from scratch is my idea of a good time. I love getting about ten houses down, egging in a pair of villagers, then seeing If I can build faster than they can breed.
Try remodeling houses or freestyling new village designs. No rule says they HAVE to be cobblestone and wood. That's just personal preference. . Almost any village I start has begins with a walled yard and a place to put a horse. Some houses are built, furnished, and have a dog waiting for someone to move in with. Sometimes I try to manufacture enough obsidian for a designated experience grinder near to or inside a magic shop so I can enchant the crap out of hard to get items.
Mods and texture packs also break up the monotony. Mods give you new toys to play with, and texture packs give you eye candy.High on Sugar gives you literal eye candy. Pam's Harvestcraft lets you make your own candy. And sometimes you just need some real fresh air and sunshine, so take a walk around the block and take a few deep breaths.
As a last resort, try going a couple of days without the creative freedom of Minecraft. There aren't any other games out there that gives a non-programer and non-gamer like me the freedom to think how I want a game to play. Most of the time I'm an explorer prepping the area for colonists coming at a later date. Most of those times I'm given tools to start with, but have to create my own as they wear out. If it's huge build, Creative mode. Oh, and don't forget to check out some seeds in the forums. I usually have at least three going with different biomes at any given time. Some have spectacular scenery and some have lots of loot.
Hope any of this helped.

Just for fun, see if your store will let you build a Lego Creeper

Hey, when you get all the bugs worked out and are just down to tweaking the pretties, how cool would it be to find flowering vines grow wild in swamps and jungles? Not every vine on every tree, but a string of color here and there to add interest. Think about the mushrooms found growing in trees or beehives.
Also, sorry to hear about your illness, glad to see you proved the doctor wrong, and overjoyed to see you up and nearly normal. Hope the year gets better as the weather gets warmer.
