    another thought, it would be cool if natural portals to the nether existed in deep caves and in other such places.
    BUT ONLY on the condition that their positions actually lined up.

    Post your opinion of the Nether.
    Do not flame, troll, spam, go off topic, etc...
    I will start:

    It needs more variety (eg. more than just 3 new kinds of block). It would be cool if fire and lava and such was a weird color. It would be cool if portals would remember which portal opened them, and thus be more accurate. Also, please entertain the notion of a higher granularity (more average features per chunk) for nether terrain; this would contribute to making portals accurate to an acceptable degree.

    (fixed implied innuendo)

    posted a message on Portal Misbehavior, Extra Entrances/Exits (?)
    So I decide it would be cool if my base had a portal in it, so I place a portal and light it up. I leave most of my stuff, and head on in. I get attacked by a ghast within about 5 seconds, and knowing that because of a bug anything I lose will not be recoverable, I decide to go back. I re-enter the portal and exit the nether.
    HOWEVER
    I do not end up at my original portal. Oh, no. I end up in an isolated cave, with no connections to any other cave, in pitch darkness, about 30 blocks underground, and about 100 blocks horizontally from the original entrance. I go back and forth a few times, but always I end up back there. After laboriously tunneling out of this underground prison (with no pickaxe and no light /frown), I return to my base and try again, with the same result.
    I figured maybe this was a glitch with the linking of the portal, so I destroy the random exit and try again. The same thing happens, except this time, the rogue portal exit spawns in the top of a tree.
    Thinking it was just a wierd one time bug, I destroy every portal (including the one in the nether by destroying it then dying) and try again. The same thing happens, I end up with my original earthside portal (which I will call A), my netherside portal (:cool.gif: and my random earthside destination (C), laid out like such:

    A -> B
    C -> B
    B -> C

    So yeah, each time I destroy a portal, I get 14 free obsidian, but I'll be damned if it isn't annoying that I can't make them come out in my base. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but I would appreciate if it was changed to make their behavior more consistent.
    Also, the nether is really neat and all, but it needs more variety. Maybe a few more rare materials and maybe even some freakish vegetation? maybe blue fire/lava. that would be cool. especially if we could bring it out and put it in our bases.

    posted a message on [MC++] MinerCPP rewrite emerging. (ask for beta!)
    KNOWING SUPER OLD THREAD BRING BACK TO LIFE.

    is there any information about this in its current state?

    I looked around and found some stuff here and there, but the closest thing I could find to an actual working snapshot of the source code was a few files on sourceforge that were so fundamentally broken as to be hopeless, they had all sorts of little syntax errors and whole sections had yet to be written.

    Please, it's been a year. update sourceforge with some working code. If I can get it to compile, I would be interested in helping with development (and I would gladly take a stab at developing solo if you don't have the time anymore)

    **EDIT**
    I have downloaded the zip file linked to earlier, amazingly, after a year, the link still works.
    I need sleep. I will play with it later
