posted a message on Minecraft gets a 9.25 rating
Folks, stop fanboying. 9.25 is a great score and the things he mentioned in that last paragraph are true. Yes the game isn't complete BUT it did release and Game Informer reviews games once they are released. Those things are missing out of the game and it a lot of the things that people have been wanting for a while. As of right that is what is wrong with that game. If that's all the person reviewing it says is wrong with it, be happy. Very very happy.

I just tried it and started in a snow biome, I've been looking for one of those.

Why does it seem like the Minecraft World Generator knows about other games and memes.

Maybe it is java...but how bout making it work ...and not having to !#@$ with the graphics settings? Making it so it doesn't timeout or have memory leaks, etc.

And the 6 systems are between two families. ...and makes no difference. I just want it to work where ever I decide to sit down and play (or show someone the game). you'd think a game with such advanced graphics wouldn't have a hard time at all ON ANY SYSTEM.

I really laughed at the dude that said, "get a better video card/CPU and you wont have any lag at all"

    ITS NOT A HARDWARE PROBLEM!

!@#$ty programming is still !@#$ty programming.

Please do your research before spouting off with such stupidity. If you're computer can't run MC, it's your Hardware. Don't believe me? Look up how Java works and come back. To make the JVM run smoothly it relies on the backing of decent Hardware. If it can run on my 2-3 year old Laptop, it should be able to run on some pretty bad computers. Shame you have access to 6 wooden PCs. Or you're trying to run it on Fancy across the board with Far render distance while having a bunch of other programs running...

posted a message on GAMING SOFTWARE?
Do you know what type of game he would like to create? No matter what he is going to have to learn some programming logic. There are programs out there that let you create a game relatively easy but there are concepts like triggers, variables, if-then-else statements, while loops, ect, that he would have to understand to really have freedom within the program.

An example of a program like that is the RPGMaker series. These programs let you create 2D RPG games. I really enjoy them probably because I grew up playing Dragon Warrior 3 so there could be some nostalgia in it for me. Some kids these days don't see it that way, different generation and all.

Like other people have said, learning a programing language would be best but it isn't the sort of thing where you start to learn the language and 2 months later you're throwing together a game. It's a long process of learning.

    Hello,

It seems like with the new updates to Minecraft mainly paste the 1.6 update, to me Minecraft has lost its luster, When I sarted playing Minecraft it was fresh and new, now wtih Endermen, Dragons, Potions and other mishmash that Notch and Mojang have added it seems like Minecraft has lost its glory. I remember back in 1.3 playing on a survival server and having so much fun. I want to have that same experience again, A minecraft 1.3 server would be awesome, but I just want Minecraft to bring back its fun.

Minecraft is still fun. You want Nostalgia from when Minecraft was less popular.

10 Users viewing thread with 1 reply... Lol I guess you aren't alone in wanting this information. I'm not the best in Aesthetics in Minecraft but start toying around with mixing blocks. Don't just build with one type of block for an entire building. But don't over do with using every block. Mix it up to add accent to walls to make features pop. One thing I do is if I am building with Cobble I will surround any Windows in Stone Brick to break up the pure Cobble feature. If you have a solid face that looks bland toy around with adding stuff coming off the wall or just a pillar right up against the wall that breaks up that plain wall. But again, don't over do any of it. These are my tips but I'm also not that great at this kind of stuff either.

posted a message on Minecraft: The Ever Changing Game
Some things DON'T fit into Minecraft. Like guns for instance, they DO NOT fit at ALL with the theme of Minecraft. But I do agree with your point that the community can be rather close minded while they struggle to hold on to the nostalgia of their back pocket indie game that they 'found'. The threads complaining about Hunger and Exp were overbearing there for a while. I now think about playing without Hunger and it seems weird. For me it fit into the game sooo well it only took an hour to get used to and it would feel odd playing without it.

posted a message on Notch Stepping Down?
I think it's more because Notch wants a break from Minecraft. His heart is more into Scrolls right now. Problem that I fear is that Jeb's heart may be more into Cobalt than Minecraft and Minecraft might get thrown to the wayside and sit on the shelf. The game isn't done yet despite actually being released. Hopefully Minecraft development will really get back to a healthy pace once they AI specialist comes in.

Enter > T. I don't know why 'T' was the default.... Almost every computer game I've ever played has used 'Enter' for the chat button, with the exception of Minecraft and L4D1-2.

    Mines called a "Creeper"

It's shaped like a giant green penis, and sneaks up behind without making sound. When it gets within 1 block of you it explodes!

The only indication of it's presence is a hiss, which gives you a small warning that it's within 1 block of you.

Unlike skeletons and zombies, it doesn't burn in the sunlight

What?! That's way too OP to be in this game. I mean silent AND they blow up?
