The title is pretty self explanatory. I would like if someone could create a mod that made damage numbers appear every time a player or an enemy takes damage. Very similar to mmo's, in that you can see just how much damage you are doing and that you are taking. Admittedly, this isn't very practical, but I think it could be fun and useful in some adventure mode settings I've been planning on creating.
So in summary:
-Very simple, though I have zero coding knowledge so I don't know if it would be difficult or not.
-Adds damage numbers that pop up above the entities name upon taking damage
-Is possible that it wouldn't be very useful, but would rather add the flavor of an mmo or something similar (Like Champions of Norath, Baldur's Gate, etc.)
I'm really quite interested in knowing how difficult something like this would be, because I've been considering learning some Java-speak and getting into modding. Thanks for your time everybody!
I most definitely support this idea! My castles will be soooooo epic... And the ghasts will perish. Although it does sadden me that they get damaged, it also makes it balanced and makes sense. I don't have iron though, I was under the impression it is the rarest material in the game next to diamonds and emeralds of course. ;D
Update, problem solved, I'm a Derp. No need for the GUI API on the server side.
Sorry, thanks.
We're trying to update our server from 1.4.5 to 1.4.7, and I've encountered a few problems. I've been able to troubleshoot and fix all of them thus far except this one. I dumped all my mods into the mods folder and it worked with no problems. No errors or anything of the sort, the server ran and then said done. There was one mod that I hadn't put in yet and that was the GUI API. Originally I put all of the files into the minecraft_server.jar, I believe that is how it was done previously. Looking at the GUI API mod page it says it has upgraded to a "core mod," and the installation instructions on this page say to place it in the core mods folder. When I do that, I get this nasty error report:

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No I am not using mcp... Actually, what is that? I've been seeing it a lot.
Update: I have solved the problem. It turns out that Forge 6.5.0.481 doesn't work... It blackscreens. That should be made known to all of the minecraft community. They already have up to .486 out, which seems to work perfectly fine. So, officially, this thread is SOLVED!
But, I'd still like to know if any of you have good systems for updating mods on a server. I'm now running into the problem of having to find which of my mods are updated and it's annoying... Not super important, but still would be nice to know if you guys have any systems you use to keep track of what mods you have. Thanks for the help MinecraftShamrock!
Anyone have any solutions? I feel as though this should be working, it's the exact same thing I did when setting up the last server... What would've changed with 1.4.6? Thank you now for any help you're willing to give
First of all, I had been hosting a private server on 1.4.5 for some time, and it worked fine. We were using Forge V6.4.1.426
As well as these mods
Quicksand Mod 3.0.1
Jammy's Furniture Mod V4.1_Beta_2
AsgardShield_Core v1.1.3Forge
ASAddon_Hallowed_v1.0.4Forge
ASAddon_NetherEnder_v1.0.3
Backpack-1.5.4-1.4.5
Custom Mob Spawner 1.9.2
Dr. Zhark's MoCreatures Mod v4.3.1
Invasion_mod universal 0.11.4
More Swords 2.1.3
More Bows 1.4.5v2
Optional_Wool2String_1.4.4
As I said, all of this was fine and dandy, just wanted to put it down in case the information was important.
So, here's the steps I took in updating the server:
Downloaded new Minecraft_Server.jar
Created .bat file with this text in it:
"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -jar Minecraft_Server.jar
Ran Server and changed properties and ops files
Installed Forge 6.5.0.481 (Just dragged the files into the server.jar and didn't delete meta-inf)
Ran server again and created mods folder.
So far everything is working fine, but the moment I try and put any mod in I get this kind of error.

I show both of these error reports to emphasize that it isn't a problem with a particular mod, but rather the way I set my path variable or how I installed Forge. This also happened with the more swords mod, all three of which have worked with Forge in the past and are specified for 1.4.6
I haven't done too much research into it, although I will. The recurring theme seems to be this "java.lang.nullpointerexception" I am no expert in the language of Java, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, so I've been having problems with this mod, and I can't seem to find anywhere else that will tell me how to fix them, so I've decided to come here to spew off my problems to the minecraft community Here goes:
First let me say that this mod seems awesome, and from what I've played, it is. I've encountered a few problems though, as is the case when I try to do anything outside of vanilla minecraft... Not the point! So, when I loaded it up on my server, everything was running fine, and animals were spawning a lot more frequently (Which was awesome, our spawn and home base is in the Taiga biome, and we hadn't seen even ONE wolf there for the whole couple months we've had this server, I've found 4 after this mod in a day). My brother and I decided to test it and go "hunting" at night, but when the sun went down there was an unpleasant surprise. There were HOARDS of monsters, but the big part was that they were spawning in groups of 4-5. Maybe this is by design (Is this how it was before 1.9? I've only played 1.4.2 and on, so I don't know), but it doesn't seem right to me that every night I'm surrounded by 4 werewolves, a group of 5 giants, and 2 golems on either side of me. We literally couldn't do anything that night except hide because there were just too many mobs. I'm all for more frequent mob spawning, but we were in full Iron and had a few iron swords and the three of us (My sis was with us too) were pulverized before the night was over, every single one of us died.
So, I noticed in the global mods setting, I could play with a lot of the spawning options, but I don't know what half of these options are. We did some tests to try and fix it, and we found that if we turned everything's spawning frequency down to one, and the maximum allowed mobs to around ten to twenty, it kind of fixed our problem. Now we're running into not finding very much of anything.
My real question hidden in this jumbled mess of "I stayed up till 6 A.M. last night trying to fix this" writing is this: Is there a way I can turn mob spawning to be how it is in Vanilla minecraft, to where things will spawn frequently, but not in big groups of each mob. It's simply because we can't handle fighting two golems at once while there are 3 werewolves right next to them. Is this happening to anyone else?
Hi, I am having problems with running the mod MoCreatures. I have already installed the 1st two mods you requested, the GUI and customspawner, and they all work until I add MoCreatures in last. I also have Forge, deleted META-INF too. I have tried putting it in coremod, and still nothing worked. I keep seeing a black screen appear after the Mojang logo as if it crashed. What should I do?
Thank you for your time!
Did you make sure that you added the GUI API into the .jar file? Actually modify the zip the same way you've modified it with forge. The other two go in the mods folder. Hope I helped.

Thanks ahead of time.
Did you make sure that you added the GUI API into the .jar file? Actually modify the zip the same way you've modified it with forge. The other two go in the mods folder. Hope I helped.
