You are wrong. I have tested with this.I put a room with redstone torches (Light level of 7) and another room with complete darkness. After building the two, I turned the difficulty to peaceful and back to normal. I then went around 30 blocks away for the mobs to spawn. After 20 seconds, I checked how many mobs spawned in the two rooms. Light level 7 room: 6 mobs Light level 0 room: 17. Notch said that they were the same spawn rate but in fact he never implemented that. And btw slimes can spawn on any light level.
Sooo....you truly believe that after 1 single experiment, in 1 instance, you can actually call "wrong"? Spawning is a bit too random for that.
Afaik, the only thing checked in the code for spawning is whether it's possible or not. To know this for sure, though, you'd have to take a look at that.

Oct 7, 2012Yup, that's the part I meant as well. (If you look back where you spawn, there's the farm.) Never could get that Terraformer to terraform it a bit more....neatly. Probably gonna straighten it out before the next upload.Posted in: Maps
Been to the 'town' yet, btw?

Oct 7, 2012I haven't really set foot in the creation of mods myself, but I've seen quite a lot of modding tutorials on this forum.Posted in: Mods Discussion
http://www.minecraft...ding-tutorials/ seems like a good one, haven't read completely through this and not sure if it's got what you need, but might be worth a read.
Oct 7, 2012When you're trying to show screens, giving a link from your hard-drive isn't going to do anything. The pictures are still on your own computer and inaccesible through the interwebs. Best way is to upload them (imgur.com is one of the easiest) and then either post the link or use the forum code [*img](link of the image here[*/img] but without the *'s.Posted in: Tutorials
As for the tutorial in itself....well, it's a bit clear on what we're supposed to do (those pics probably would've helped a lot :P), but imo the design is not that great. If you make a google or youtube search on wheat farm you'll see that the average farm on there has a higher quality value.
But, in the end, it's great that you wanted to put this out here and decided to make a tutorial to share the idea. =)
Oct 7, 2012It's supposed to be a baby kiwi, so I'm guessing about 1 hour-a couple of days myself.Posted in: Forum Games
Ur-Quan: I'm not a creationist, so I'm gonna go with 4.54 ± 0.05 billion years
Lasko: no idea what it is...so I'd say anywhere from 1 month to 50 000 years old.

This is what we're referring to.
You put the post out there, comments have been invited already so you didn't add anything to the post, but just created a "bump": a way to get your topic back on the front page and noticed again. Can be really handy for you personally, but rather annoying if everyone would keep on doing it. The first page of every (sub)forum is meant for active discussions, if your post gets lost in the huge mass of other posts, that's unfortunately. But "bumping" is prohibited on this (and many more) forum(s).
Oct 7, 2012Again: how do you install? There are a -lot- of youtube vids and typed instructions out there, it could simply be that you're using the wrong ones or have misinterpreted something about them.Posted in: Tutorials
Are there any error messages? Do the mods show up in the mods list?
There are also a lot of auto-installers out there, have you tried (one of) those?
Oct 7, 2012Mostly depends on what you want to learn, for more Minecraft basics you can either go on Youtube or do a google search on a general Minecraft tutorial.Posted in: Discussion
Afaik, tekkit and bukit are mods. There's a whole seperate mod forum here that you can go and check out.
http://www.minecraft.../Minecraft_Wiki <- has got about everything Minecraft-related on there. Helped me out quite a lot.
It's also got some tutorials: http://www.minecraft.../wiki/Tutorials
Other possibilities include joining a (newb-friendly) server and asking for help there, it's usually a lot easier (and less abstract) to explain stuff in-game.
Any questions whatsoever, you can always send me a PM. =) Specific questions about certain topics are a lot easier to answer, just a general "I need to know more about Minecraft" is hard because it's impossible for anyone else to know what you know and what you still need to learn.
Edit: Apparantly, someone already created a tutorial channel on Youtube: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1511765-looking-to-learn-how-to-play-minecraft/
I haven't checked it out personally, but sounds promising.
Good luck and, most importantly, have fun!
