That's encouraging, though admittingly I not so much a programmer as I am a comment out lines until things work kind of coder.

I hope Notch likes leaving detailed comments.

posted a message on A Mod For Stopping Mob Spawning
    Hello.

I started building a sci fi themed Custom Map set on an Alien planet. Everything is still very early but I've already decided the Endermen will be a central role in the plot, playing the part of a mysterious, undiscovered race of extra terrestrial hidden in the world.

I'm not sure whether its been done or possible, but I would want the Endermen mob too be the only mob to spawn in the world. I don't want the player be thrown out of the setting of an supposedly lifeless planet if their fighting zombies and skeletons (undead circumstance notwithstanding). So I am appealing to those smarter than myself; Is there an updated mod available that allows the user to curtail what mobs spawn. And if not how feasible would it be to create a Mod to do this.

I appreciate all your input and advice.

    *EDIT* Grammar mistake.

I took a spin around the Mountains around spawn in this seed and it looks like a good candidate for a massive castle map I'm dreaming up. Pretty alright seed!

I really like the concept that its built into the local geography, gives it a more organic look.

First you put the plot in German and than MOCK US for not speaking German. Than continue trying to be witty and snarky as we play the the two or three Puzzles of this adventure map (one of which had no point whatsoever). Only to lead up too the end of the map after only FIVE MINUTES of play, which fails miserably in its attempt to blow the player up with TNT.

I use Minecraft Xray afterwards too see whether I was missing a room or a secret or another section of the dungeon, but no. This has got too be the laziest string of rooms someone thought too call an adventure map I've ever seen. You give us less than ten cramped rooms, two of which have the same puzzle and another being pointless in every way and have the nerve of taunting the player the whole. What business do you have making these kind of maps?

If I wasn't aware that spawning in a pitch black Cave wasn't part of the adventure map, I'd say you just place the spawn in there and called that your adventure map.

    Terrible, absolutely terrible.

Craft it with bone or something too turn it into a glue, which you use to stick things like red stone dust or gravel and sand onto walls or ceilings.

posted a message on Cavern exploring help?
First thing I suggest is before entering any cavern have on you a full stack of wood, that way there's no way for you too run out of torches when your deep inside, out to mention you can always make a crafting table whenever.

As for me, when confronted with a particularly large cavern, I try too tame the sucker. I'll create a clean, organized route from the entrance to the depths of the cavern, with small paths branching out. It should not so much a breadcrumb trail as it is a breadcrumb road. This way you return to the cavern you have an establish causeway leading you down.

and if all else fails, dig upwards and make your own exit.

Also, Use Minecraft Xray, best program you can use to get your bearings and find exactly where ores are hidden.

posted a message on Creeper Temple (WIP)
Hello. I've started work on a large, Zelda inspired Creeper dungeon; complete with large puzzles, fighting and a boss fight (hopefully). It's main focal point is a massive underground central chamber that will house an equally large Creeper statue.

I hope to turn this into one of those escapecraft custom map with a bunch of Dungeons and Temples hidden in the landscape, and eventually amalgamate it into 1.7's upcoming adventure mode.

But anyway, here it is what I have so far. Its saying I'm not allowed to use the image extension on this thread so pardon the dull hyperlinks.

From floor to ceiling its 64 blocks talls, with a diameter of 31 blocks.
    From the Top

I pulled an all nighter to excavate this chamber, used a few hundred sticks of TNT (thank you toomanyitems) too carefully carve it out.
    From the Bottom

This is a prototype of the Creeper statue that will reside inside said room, It's exactly 50 blocks tall. Too reach the final boss chamber the player will make the statue explode, So I'll have to make a few copies of it too test out TNT placement.

Notch claims 1.6.6 is coming next week. But, this could be a good test for your new version before then and shouldn't require too much updating to go to 1.6.6.

I say Hippo can give himself a break and wait for 1.6.6 too update. I'm sure we all have other things in Minecraft to occupy us while the Mod is updated.

These are all great techniques, I've experimented with a few and they're all pretty uniform. While building a prototype chamber above ground I found a crude shaft packed with TNT just made a chaotic pit, not too mention this method occasionally made a stray explosive to be blasted away (often towards you).

I might use a combination of these techniques, Though since this will be underground there's no escaping the fact I'll have too dig out the initial area manually first too serve as a reference.
