So it's just as it sounds. The server is super laggy when players log in using the external IP, but they are fine when using Hamachi or Tunngle. Any ideas? I have players from all around the world connection. The only pattern i've noticed is that people from the EST time zone seem to have better connections on the external, which only confuses me more...
Yeah, but if the port forwarding tester said the port is open, it should be working.
Okay, so it IS working! Which is friggen awesome! The only thing is... It's super laggy when players log in using the external IP, but they are fine when using Hamachi or Tunngle. Any ideas?
That's the problem indeed. This is because your external IP address is just your router (hence the need for port forwarding). If you're playing on the server computer, connect using "localhost" as the IP address in Minecraft, and if another computer on the same network, use the server's host name.
So then I need to wait for someone to test out the server externally?
1) Cannot connect to minecraft server via external IP
2) I have port forwarded and it worked. (Screenshot here)
3) I have added an exception for port 25565 UDP AND TCP on my windows firewall.
4) I do have avast installed, however, I have tried shutting down the network shield, and this still did not work.
5) Server works fine with tunngle and hamachi. (I just want to be able to bypass them)
6) When I try to connect, it says
I am at a loss for what to do. The only thing I can think of, is maybe, just possibly, I cannot connect to my own server via an external IP, though I can't see why this would be the case. If i'm wrong, please let me know. I will have a friend check it as soon as someone logs on.
Alrighty then, old problem, new face! Let's see what happens! What should I try first!?
(P.S. It says I can only post 9 more times until tomorrow. If giving me rep points fixes that, please help me out so I can respond to this thread later if needed! Would be much appreciated! Thanks!)
I searched around a bit, but i am unable to find an understandable answer as to how exactly I go about making my map be as big as it can be without any bugs. Can someone please explain/link any information I could use to increase the size of the map in a multiplayer server? I'm using the ServerOpConsole btw. I also cannot figure out how to connect remotely to the server via a browser.
