In a recent tweet he posted this.

    notch Markus Persson
I'm making an arbitrary change to the spirit of the game for no discernible reason and which I know is a mistake. I am very sorry.

    What do you all think?

    Way to go, Notch.

Notch nerfed the whole block taking anyway for 1.9

    And there was much rejoicing!

The biggest change I'm looking forward to is the taking away of the Enderman's ability to pick up blocks. The 1.8 Endermen were just about a game-breaker for me and my friends.

posted a message on Please add OPTIONS to the game
Please, please, please add some gameplay options to the game. There are lots of features that polarize the community and upset lots of players. This is all negativity that could be done away with by the simple action of adding options to the game.

    e.g.

Options for *each* mob controlling whether or not it spawns at all, whether it is hostile to the player, whether certain special behaviors are observerd (e.g. Endermen pick up blocks, Endermen do not pick up blocks, Endermen only pick up player-placed blocks, etc.), options for each type of weather as to whether or not it will occur and at what frequency, etc.

Options like this are often easy to implement and will make an immense improvement in the game.

People are not pissed off by the difficulty, they're pissed off by the fact that their worlds are being torn apart by endermen.

posted a message on Cant play 1.8 because of lagging? post here!
The bandwidth usage appears to have gone up dramatically with 1.8. I used to be able to host a game and have four people playing while simultaneously doing some moderate file sharing. Now, not a single person can play on my private server with the same amount of bandwidth used by that filesharing program.

    Quote from FalloutFTW

Why do Endermen have to move blocks? What could it possibly add to the gameplay other than simple annoyance? What was Notch thinking? :dry.gif:

Some people might find it fun to have computer-controlled griefers in the game, but many (most?) do not.

I think it was added because the "cool" factor ("hey, let's have a mob that can move blocks just like the player can!") overrode the "common sense" factor.

What Notch really needs to do is start adding a lot more options that affect gameplay. Not everyone enjoys the same things, and it's usually trivial to add options to control certain aspects of a program. So much strife between posters and frustration with the game could be avoided by the addition of a simple option to control the Endermen's ability to move blocks.

    endermen shouldn't mess with blocks.

it breaks redstone creations and overall just ruin **** in adventure/survival maps.

i really don't like having to resort to mods to disable default features like this (and a few other 1.8 changes) that ruin the game. the vanilla game is in serious trouble.

Agreed. NPCs that mess with blocks -- whether placed by the player of naturally existing -- are a huge mistake. They are nothing more than griefers who damage the player's contructions and the natural terrain. If the behavior were optional, that's fine, but it's not, and that is a mistake.

    Hope you have good ideas
reply if you don't want something in the update 1.9 :smile.gif:

Get rid of the Endermen's ability to pick up blocks. There's nothing positive about it.

Get rid of the black fog at the deepest levels of the map.

The endermen. Definitely. "NPC-griefers? What a wonderful idea!"

The black fog is kind of dumb, too.

    The chest bugs.

    The increased lag.

Everyone's problems with the new Enderman mob would be solved if Notch would just put an option in the game to make Endermen leave player-placed blocks alone and/or not pick up blocks at all. Then everyone gets to play the way they want.

It was pretty obvious that the Enderman's block moving ability was a disaster waiting to happen.

What I don't understand about Minecraft is the lack of options in the game. All it takes is the adding of a few options to the game and everyone is happy.
