1.6.4, we're on the build that CanVox did for Technic.
I don't know if this helps or not:
[08:20:53] <blood|work> if so hes sending a DimensionRegister packet with 114
[08:20:59] <blood|work> hes probably monitoring client logins
[08:21:02] <blood|work> no clue why he is doing that
[08:21:20] <blood|work> that is the only logical reason i can think of
[08:21:31] <blood|work> since the server is not going to do this
I've been trying to reach Steven, but he seems to be sleeping or something, weird for 6 AM. All players logging into my server are getting and invalid provider client crash that drops them to desktop. I have tried: deleting the offending dimension completely, replacing it with a copy of another dimension, and manually deleting everything IN the dimension to no effect. I thought there were some debug commands for this type of situation but can't remember what they are. Any help is appreciated.Server runs fine, just no one can connect. No one is logging into that specific dimension.
If you want to complain about balance, I suspect that that is where you want your efforts directed.
Once again it isn't about pure balance of mods. It's about flexibility and options. I was honestly done discussing it but didn't want to be rude and not answer your question. A BC quarry with better quarries would also rip up a ton of them with very little effort. That is just the big items in the gambit of mods that I play, let alone the hundreds of mods I do not play.
He did it with a digital miner from Mek that can scan an area and dig up only certain things. Another low effort way would be a small platoon of mining turtles that looked for it.
I still fail to see the problem. You need a silk-touch enchanted Borer plus a large amount of time and power to be able to dig enough blocks to have a statistically significant chance of hitting one purple crystal. Additionally, the net result of an XP farm can hardly compare with machines, especially the RotaryCraft spawner controller+harvester.
My apologies, I am not saying this is some kind of game breaking 'problem'. As a server admin, maintaining the internal balance of a server and modpack is just as important as mod functionality. I can see that you disagree that it has a balance concern, but my opinion is that giving a user as much flexibility as possible is always good. However, I can see you are not interested in this particular suggestion, and of course you can carry on making your very neat mods however you want. We have definitely enjoyed them so far.
edit; And just so you know, your example is not at all the only way to collect these crystals. I had a player on my server accumulate 20 of them in less than an hour. You can never account for what people are going to play alongside your mods. Trying to balance your mod vs every possible scenario is fruitless. THAT is why allowing people to configure the mod is important.
I see no issue with that. Given the relative rarity of crystals, and the fact that only 1/16 are purple, the amount of work required for that is appropriate.
If you could consider at least making it a config option. In a vacuum it may require effort, but with other mods it would be nice to be able to balance this. In this case the person who did it used a machine to find them all in 0 time with 0 effort. And even if it DID require a lot of effort, the ability to have a cost-less renewable free xp machine is pretty unbalanced. It's why everyone stopped using the original soul shards. The ability to disable certain crystals via config would work as well.
Just a suggestion: purple crystals (maybe all crystals) should not be able to be silk-touched. Someone on my server has a tiny room of purple crystals he has collected and you get unlimited free xp just from standing there. You can go from level 0-30 in about 2 minutes.

This actually seems to happen on any non-windows java VM.

I was thinking it may have something to do with his OS or Java but was hoping you could take a look. Latest PlayerAPI and Smartmoving.
His Java versions:
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.12) (7u25-2.3.12-4ubuntu3)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)
edit; one more thing. When assigning grab to a mouse button it seems to break the ability to crawl. All other functionality works, but not that.
Thank you
