Alright, I'm gonna talk Jeb's map.

Was testing stuff and it looked cool, so it should probably stay =) http://i.imgur.com/m9pXv1r.png

Alright, so the Wiki already informs us that, oddly enough, maps currently don't work in The End. That means this picture appears on the surface to confirm only that maps are going to become a bit more useful.

HOWEVER, my deduction is that there's a few more secrets hidden in this screenshot. Look a little closer, there are brown rectanguloids on one part of the rim of the off-center island, and those things aren't widespread enough to be chorus plants! I think those brown pixels hint at a new structure. I mean, why else would they be in Jeb's screenshot?

Think about it; chorus plants don't generate in small insignificant bunches like that, and there's no way Jeb would be building random pillars with in-game Minecraft controls if he was just going to move away from them and take a single screenshot with something else heavily overshadowing it. We already know that Mojang Co aren't letting on any information until Minecon, but I know they just love slipping grains of sand through the gap under the door (I think it also directly happened in a recent tweet). I really think those dots near the center wouldn't exist if they didn't mean something.

There's also random shadowy things around some of the edges of some islands, but I don't think that's anything other than the map's render style.

Well, duh. Obviously it's not a bug when the particles come out of unfallen sand. It's the stuff falling out of ANVILS that doesn't make sense. What, is it made of unsealed iron dust? Is it sweating?

I think the Strays and Husks are a fantastic idea. Not only are they making more uses for Smite, but having quirky variations of something we've had in Minecraft for ages is probably about as fun as installing Wrath of The Lamb for the first time. I mean, they're still Zombies and Skeletons, but they're fresh. The game has probably needed more undead for a while now... These things add more variety to the game, and dare I say, difficulty. Only more difficult if you set up shop in a cold or hot biome though. It's probably time to invest in some custom preset element challenges.

Did you just... create the Far Lands?

We're gonna need to see that preset.

They should have built the savanna blacksmiths out of andesite.

Now that I've put my useless shout post out of the way, time for some important input.

This time I wanted to get few spoilers and actually use the snapshot to discover a bunch of new features for myself. Based on what that blog post said, I thought a large preset world of nothing but mesa would be the best idea. The post said there was a new mob that spawned in hot areas, and a "shiny surprise" at the end of mineshaft tunnels. Husks and high elevation gold ore.

I really think the best thing about it was the mineshafts opening up on the surface. Surface mineshafts kick ass. Aside from that, what I got was gold ore generating in plenty of easily accessible places and not one husk.

The moment I stopped using preset worlds and found a desert legitimately, husks started showing up everywhere. But "hot and dry biomes" should include mesas and savannas as well, not just deserts. This says to me that Mojang made an oversight, either with what kind of biomes are already hot and dry, or whether trying to find husks in a custom world would reveal a bug.

I'm definitely erring towards the first possibility, because the wiki says that the desert and its variants are what a husk will spawn in.

So don't go looking for those guys in a savanna or mesa.

I also had the idea to get killed by one of them. So far the mob statistics will reveal nothing about what husks you've killed (which I tried first), but straight up dying to a husk will actually tell you that, indeed, you were killed by a husk.

(God, when are they going to stop directly addressing me in third person?)

    Welcome back.

Do you think Endermen get to the Nether because they walk in there with new pathing AI, or do they just spawn there?

Polar bears aren't really a threat, just keep using coal and they'll go extinct.

posted a message on Help with Block Values when Generating a New Superflat World

The damage value to make a block change its appearance goes right after the name of the block and another colon. So, for red stained clay you would have 6xminecraft:stained_hardened_clay:14 and then just use that comma to add the layers above that. Whichever colour you're using (I'm not sure which it is because of the weird tint) you'll just have to find its damage value.
