Dec 9, 2012Withersting posted a message on Minecraft Seeds Pro - Manage Your Seeds Like a ProI'm sorry to say this, cause at first I really liked it... But right now it's become an unregulated mess, where everyone posts the most mundane and boring run-of-the-mill seeds you've ever seen.Posted in: News
Also, it seems the people that are submitting the seeds either know NOTHING of Minecraft or are EXTREMELY new to the game.
People are taking pictures of their monitor screens with an external camera (you can imagine how crappy that looks) instead of taking in-game pics... People are digging out old Beta 1.7.3 seeds out of Google from what it seems to look cool or whatever (seeds that obviously will never work on the currrent MC version) and then posting their Youtube channels to get hits....
For this to work:
1) Seeds need to be regulated so that they conform to at least a certain level of quality and tested before they go in the app to tell if they are legit.
2) The spam needs to be controlled, as it is right now you can see miles of people just spamming AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA in the comments like retards.
3) Seeds need to be able to be classified by game version, as it is, you can't tell what version they are for.
4) Some standards need to be enforced, like freaking coordinates! People just say "kul seeeed I's foundzz!" And a bunch of pics of the monitor with random areas you can't tell how to see or get to...
All in all, I'm happy I tried it out with Installous before I wasted my money on it...
If it gets better, I'll definitely buy, but as of now, the forums are a MUCH better source for seeds. -
Nov 29, 2012Withersting posted a message on A Look at Minecon 2012, Pt 1I'm sorry, but that Mojang museum video with that Lindsay or whatever the hell she's called, is just HORRID! What the hell?... really?... At least Pico disguised pretty well she didn't give a crap about gaming...
Wow, just wow... get rid of her ASAP... There's enough hot chicks in the internet if that's what we are looking for, what we need is someone who gives at least half a crap...
Sorry if it sounds harsh, but it's my freaking opinion and I bet many others think as I do... -

Aug 9, 2012Withersting posted a message on 12w32a Snapshot Ready for Testing"The patch for 1.3 will be released as 1.3.2, and will not include any new features."Posted in: News
Great! Everything the modding community has been working on, is now wasted again...
First from 1.3 to 1.3.1, and now to 1.3.2...
Hoooo boy... -
Aug 1, 2012Withersting posted a message on 1.3.1 is Now Live! They did a 1.3 "pre-release" so that "modders would be ready for the full release in the conversion of their mods"...Posted in: News
Then they pull an a-hole move and release it as "1.3.1" effectively making the time the modders invested in "getting their mods ready for 1.3" a complete waste...

May 31, 2012Withersting posted a message on Snapshot 12w22a Ready For Testing!Posted in: News
First off, I know you are kidding, but right now after 1 and a half hours of spelunking, smelting the resulting ores and cooking in furnaces, I am level 87... I may have killed like 10 mobs at most down there...
I know the mining experience is just probably a placeholder amount and will probably get toned down to passive mob level experience...
There is no way this is going live this way, that's why it's a snapshot, to test it.
I switched to creative, just to test the enchanting. Made the 30 bookcase and enchantment table setup.
I went up to lvl 90, so I could get 3 enchantments and I got.
A Fortune 3, Efficiency 2 pickaxe.
A Looting 2, knockback 3 sword.
and a Silk Touch, Efficiency 3 pick.
In less that two hours, YAY! -

2 - Some of us... JUST CHILL OUT! The server/client split... other games have been doing this for over a decade... the client runs in the foreground, the server runs as a background process. I think Quake did this first in 1996. It does not require an internet connection to do this. YOU JUST RUN IT. No worries about hackers trying to invade. At this point, you can't even invite anyone into any SP game. You would have to run the "minecraft_server.exe" program (or alternate OS equivalent), which *would* be much slower on the same machine. Before you freak out and spam the forums next time, take the time to try it out first.
Except, we already tried it out and the problem is that right now in Minecraft with this snapshot an internet connection IS REQUIRED. You cannot play even single player unless you are connected to the internet. This is with the regular minecraft.bin not the minecraft_server.bin. If you start a single player world and your internet connection is interrupted, the game kicks you out and you CANNOT play at all unless you connect to the internet again.
The game runs with latency lag, so creepers are closer than they appear and they blow up before you can kill them.
Reminds me of the Yogscast when they do their map plays. They have a hard time killing a simple zombie without getting hit, because of the latency and they have INSANE PC's with super fast internet connections...
oh wellzz... -
May 10, 2012Withersting posted a message on Snapshot 12w19a is Ready For Testing!Yeah, I guess this is something that will get fixed, cause I just noticed I CANT EVEN PAUSE THE GAME HAHA!!!!Posted in: News

May 10, 2012Withersting posted a message on Snapshot 12w19a is Ready For Testing!Posted in: NewsQuote from UnknownOne23
I love how people are still freaking out about the server/client thing. And it was final for a while actually.
The only thing this is going to do is make it possible to inv other ppl to your world o.o thats all there is to it... o.o
The problem is, you cannot play minecraft unless you are online...
I repeat, if I have no internet connection, there is absolutely no way or option to play the game offline... not even Single player...
I'm not freaking out and I know it's not final, but understand that this cannot go live like this, because a lot of people won't be able to play Minecraft anymore, me included, because of my dismal internet connection and no other viable internet options where I live, my playing experience would be so horrible, it wouldn't be enjoyable anymore.
Just picture breaking a block in front of you and the damn block popping back into existance over and over, or maybe a creeper you just cannot kill before he blows your face off because of lag...
Not everyone has access to a good internet connection... good enough to play online, at least...
I can't play MMO's because of this... -
May 10, 2012Withersting posted a message on Snapshot 12w19a is Ready For Testing!oooook....Posted in: News
So now, to play Minecraft I must be online all the time...
My internet connection sucks huge amounts of ass.
So now, even if I only want to play Survival single player, I get loads of lag and random disconnects left and right... What the hell...
Is there ANY WAY to actually play offline?
Btw: I already tried deleting the "server" folder and only running the game with the "bin" files like before, NOPE, doesn't work... You MUST HAVE the server files in your Minecraft folder, therefore you can only play the game online even if you are playing single player and have no intention of ever inviting anyone to your map...
Again... what the hell? I hope this isn't final... good thing I kept my 1.2.5 game files intact... -

Is this for 1.2.6? If it is my friend is going to be sooooooooooo pissed. He wants it to just be 1.3.0, but I diagree.
If the patch progression has so far been following a logical sequence since the official release: (1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, for example) why in the hell would the next patch be 1.3.0 instead of 1.2.6?
What difference does it make to your friend if it is 1.2.6 instead of 1.3.0? It's not like the game will be magically better or all of a sudden have a whole load of new content, just because it is now 1.3.0, instead of 1.2.6...
Your friend is dumb...Quote from Zombie Fodder
Ooh, towns now contain chests with weapons and food! Is this a new aspect introduced in this snapshot, or just something that I hadn't come across before?

Well, that kills the X360 version for me...
Meh... guess I'll stick to the PC version, unless they decide to allow modding later on...

The amount of botty kissing that goes on keeps me away from this "community".. a shame - a little honesty doesn't hurt and people have the right to their opinions even if it doesn't praise "Notch".
Completely true.
What narrow-minded people don't understand is that from the very beggining, Mojang has listened to the player's feedback on these matters.
When we express our opinion about a product, things happen, there are changes to hopefully improve the product.
When Minecraft development screeched to a grinding halt, we voiced our opinion and Notch wisefully decided to pass the torch before Minecraft became stagnant.
Minecraft has taken off again with a lot of changes, improvements and many other new things thanks to the modders, the programmers and Jeb. When we spoke, they listened and the good things happening now have been the result.
Notch apparently saw that only focusing on Minecraft would hinder his programming career and intelligently passed Minecraft onto more dedicated hands. It showed that his heart was not 100% behind MC anymore, because he kept doing side projects and learning new programming languages and techniques.
This is what the blind Notch fanboys won't see... - To post a comment, please login.

If you build a house in the surface of your world, they always end up in your roof, no matter how well you light it up, and then they track your movements through the ceiling while making their disgusting walking sound and constantly screeching every 2 seconds...
Only way to get rid of them is walk out your door, where they promptly jump down on your neck...
It's the reason I mostly live underground nowadays... Just hate them...

The sound they make when they die is EPIC, though...
Also there's a mod around that makes bats drop leather... google it...

If you wish to go this route, try Railcraft and Steve's Carts, they work separately but are insane together. The idea you brought of linking carts together is in Railcraft already and you can even put a locomotive-type vehicle in front to pull them all. And don't even think it's a cakewalk with any of them... The mods are not "cheating" in any way, since you REALLY need to work for the stuff you want. It might even be harder than vanilla, but the rewards are infinitely awesome...
You can check out Direwolf's20 Youtube channel for all your mod spotlights and tutorials.
You'll need to install Forge first:
http://files.minecraftforge.net/
And the mods:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/701990-145-railcraft-6920-forge/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/680276-145-steves-carts-2-v200a33/
Follow instructions in each page for installation.
It should tide you over until Mojang implements them into Vanilla. Mojang has already adapted a lot of the modding community's ideas into the official game.
It's also a good idea to start familiarizing yourself with mods, because once the modding API goes live in 1.5, all these mods will be available for installation from within the Minecraft client itself and will essentially actually BE a part of Minecraft itself.
If you are a purist and want to go vanilla, well... I thought the same way, until vanilla became kind of stale...
Otherwise, you'll need a Pigman farm (a PITA to make) for the gold and start cranking out those powered rails...

Also, it's a 1.3.1 seed, so it might be slightly different and the title is kind of misleading...
So, if you don't want to be forced to raise this kid's Youtube video view count or have to deal with his apparent Tuberculosis... Your welcome...

That's a great idea. We'll end up downloading anything you put up anyway

Unless you are willing to make an Enderman trap in the End, the sky mob farm is your best alternative for farming drops/xp since they nerfed mob spawners.
