Role Playing-Assuming the Identity of a fictional character to interact with others doing the same. While role playing, a person doesn't leave character, because this ruins the enjoyment of all those role-playing together. Meta-Gaming-Refraining from using knowlege your character cannot know, or OOC information while IC. Similar to the protagonist in a book whose fate is unknown to him, but very known to the reader. Power-Gaming-Using excessive power, making commands without the option for the opponent to fight back. For example, "Boom, you're dead," or "Do'Tsaar's sword magically sliced through 7 opponents." Also, being unimaginative and grinding through enemies/fighting opponents without commentating.
-------IC-------
Name- Do'Tsaar Race- Khajiit Gender-Male Age- Somewhere around my own, little experience, prime of fighting life. (keep in mind most folks were considered adults in the middle ages once they could fight and/or procreate) Appearance-Large build, somewhat chubby, above average height, Brownish-yellow fur and blue eyes. He is very fond of heavily-built armors, and fights well with limited mobility. Highly proficient with the blade, Do'Tsaar has very few other combat skills. The only archery he knows is enough to hunt, and is both distrustful and incapable of the magical arts. He is also surprisingly lithe for his size, enough to squeeze through a window or similar opening.
Personality-Soft spoken, but wild when provoked. Do'Tsaar is polite and mild-mannered; he doesn't ever want to put off a potential customer. He will only respond with violence when violently provoked. In the case of a verbal dispute, Do'Tsaar will parlay for as long as possible, avoiding combat (though this is likely because Do'Tsaar is very vain, and prides himself on his swordsmanship, assuming he will win without question).
RP example: (Do'Tsaar is a reasonably successful freelance merchant for the sake of this.)
<Adventurer>*notices Khajiit loaded down* "Ahoy Khajiit!" <Do'Tssar>"What can Do'Tsaar do for you, friend?" <Adventurer>"May I see what you have for sale?" <Do'Tssar>"Most certainly."
Adventurer makes a show of examining the goods, then brandishes a sword at Do'Tsaar
<Adventurer>"Okay, Cat." <Do'Tsaar>"Your words, and your mistake make Khajiit sad." Attempts at a fatal two-handed cleave <D> Sidesteps, makes for a slash at the wrist Avoids, locks blades <D> Uses the distraction to rip an eye out of the Adventurer, walks away from the writhing figure.
Background:
Do'Tssar grew up in Elsweyr, to very traditional parents. He apprenticed with a merchant at a young age, but the business bored him. He did, however enjoy the company of patrons, wondrous at those from exotic lands far away. When his apprenticeship ended, Do'Tssar spent two or three years working small jobs and learning swordplay. Sometime in his mid teens, his father was injured by skooma dealers and would eventually die from a poisoned blade. Do'Tsaar was very familiar with the way life works, and came away from his father's death with nothing other than a distrust of the magical arts and potion-makers.
Because of his mild skill with a blade, Do'Tsaar applied to escort a Khajiiti caravan set to make a claim in Skyrim. He experienced adventures aplenty on his journey, but when he got to Skyrim his wonder was replaced with anger as the Khajiit weren't allowed within the city walls. He drove off his anger by stealing small anonymous items from citizens of Skyrim, but never anything too noticeable or valuable; it was just to help calm his inner turmoil. After a time, he was invited to join the Blades, but their endless bickering and complaining about some dragon bored Do'Tsaar and he declined. Soon after, he read about a populated land away from Tamriel, and decided to pursue that land, maybe to start a merchant business of his own with all he had learned. To get there, Do'Tsaar made use of the merchants he befriended whilst guarding the Khajiit caravans of Skyrim, and boarded a merchant vessel sent to make contact and hopefully open trade with Akavir.
OMIGOD-I forgot! Drugs are bad, kids. Skooma kills.
As a side note--I can devote 2-4 hours a day to this role play, and would be perfectly content dungeon delving and selling the resulting loot. If a merchant isn't super feasible, somewhere there were mentions of assassins..
